    Cubs win yesterday and Fla, Atl and Col all lose. Wake me up! Now the Giants have pulled even with the Rocks and both are creeping up on L.A. who has come back to earth. That race is gonna be a dogfight to the end. I don't know about that Eastern race...I just hope they play the Phils a lot in September!

    It has been established that the rumor came from a "what if" article in the Sun Times. So it just became a rumor, as things do. But it is not as far fetched as it seems. His contract will be up and he WILL be fielding offers. He and Mozelic (sp?) are not buddies. Mo' traded away Dave's boy to stop LaRussa from starting the guy. And the same day the pitcher batting 8th thing was Kyboshed. Anyone in the know can see that's no coincedence. My thinking is that IF the Cubs decide to let Lou go, they will make him a good offer. His ego will sorely tempt him.

    Ditto. Where did you hear this? And, frankly, if LaRussa is going to bolt for another team in the NL Central, the Reds seem to make the most sense to me since Jocketty's there. I don't think the Reds are nearly as sexy as the Cubs idea....as for the rumor, I heard there was an article in the Sun Times, but if you guys that live there don't know about it, It must be false. However, there is some intriuge (sp?) going on right now with Duncan. I don't know if he is back but he left the team a few days ago for "personal" reasons. He may be mad at his kid being shipped out, then released by Pawtucket of all places. He And TLR are very close....there is something going on.

    There is a rumor that he is. I have been thinking it for months. If so, would it be a good thing for the Cubs? I'm torn. I'm a long way from Chicago...what's the buzz?

    Good day for the team....Atlanta and Col lose. Cards beat Astro's but I think that's a good thing. 2 days ago they were creeping up from behind...that's the LAST thing we need! Now the teams to watch are Col and Fla. Just keep winning the games we should and in a week things will get interesting.

    He doubled to left, Fontenot tried to throw home and spiked it into the ground toward first base; Z barehanded it and threw out Dukes at 3rd but he was called safe Nieves then whiffed on a squeeze attempt. Thank you.

    I've been looking but no luck so far.

    I will be watching the LA/Col series closely. In my mind SF is out of it. LA has owned the Rockies all year and it's reasonable to assume they go 2-1. Cubs MAY sweep this series. We are in a fix, for sure, but there IS time. If we pick up 3 games in the WC this week and Col loses 3, the race will be tight indeed.
