  1. I was wondering too. No mention on the pre-game
  2. The team is better w/Sori out of there. He's seemed lost for weeks......and a leadoff hit. Kewl.
  3. tough losses on Thurs and Fri. ...a win today would be good.
  4. This is what you guys call a "fake rally"? Oh, Sori!
  5. Santo is the best singer so far this week!
  6. Man, how can you be so optimistic? I guess since you're "part Cards fan" Is that original post serious? And "part Cards fan?" You are making me feel stupid, Aramis. (not hard to do) WOMAN. There is something true about the part Card fan thing. But I have my mind set on the Cubbies making a run. I will not let you gloomy Gus' jade me.....that being said: Sit Sori!! As I type this the McGeeHee guy just homered off of Smoltz. Hrabowski said he was a Cub at one time. What's the 411?
  7. I know he is making all this $, but he is awful. Sit his ass please!
  8. I'm really looking forward to this game.....the rainout was a blessing as it turns out. Sox were playing OK back then and now in a fatal season ending swoon must face a Cub team on the rise. Losing today is simply not to be tolerated.
  9. 4 with the Giants. The Braves and Marlins are certainly catchable. The Giants probably are too. In order to catch the Rockies and Giants, the Cubs need the Dodgers to beat the crap out of the Giants while the Giants beat the crap out of the Rockies, and some other team with nothing to play for does as well. Throughout all this the Cubs need to play their(by far) best baseball of the season. You hit the nail on the head, Ryan....lotsa if's...but as you probably know stranger things have happened...like Brooklyn having a 12 game lead on Sept. the 1st, playing .600 ball the rest of the way and STILL got caught by NY ('51?) More astounding to me was the '64 Phils who had a 6 1/2 game lead over 3 teams with 2 weeks to go and were caught by all 3! Well, not exactly....the Giants were eliminated on the friday of the last weekend. Compared to this stuff the Cubs have it easy! I know my optimism must be nauseating to dyed in the wool Cub fans....I admit to being the fair weather variety....but there is so dam much talent on this team that has not clicked yet.....I will say this: If Z does'nt start doing some good pitching right now it WILL be futile.
  10. That's true, but there is no team that does'nt want to face that ave. offense and weak Pen.
  11. Not too bad, really. We can make up the 2 games on the East pretty easy. (Fla has the toughest sched. of all the non West contenders) Plus they are the only team that has to play both the Phils and Cards. Atl. has it easier but you know they are beatable. So it's the west that's the issue. L.A. is playing .500 ball now but they play a bunch of games vs. Pit, SD and the Nats to close out so they should win the west. Col is starting to fall off pretty bad right now, and Giambi won't be saving them every nite! SF has the toughest of ALL playing Col and LA 9 times and 4 with us in the last week. It may come down to that last series. Cubs sched: only 7 games w/.500 teams. The X factor in the whole thing is the only 2 "fair" playing teams in the NL: Brews and Stro's. No other losing team has a shot at a .500 season. They could inflict various kinds of damage on any team w/o warning.....I'm pulling for them. (exept for the 7 games we play vs. the Brews....those games will be HUGE)
  12. Oh, I don't know Ryan....were'nt they 15 games ahead of Col. last month? They are a mess right now and they will need more than Thome to get strait. If Col. can make up 12 games in a month we can make up 6 in a month. Just gotta keep winning. That's what it's all about. The Dodgers are 10.5 games ahead of the Cubs, not 6. Yes, thats true. I took a look at the schedule and it will take a Mets like Sept swoon for them not to at least take the WC. So gotta get Col and SF.

  14. As I type this LA looks to lose tonite. (I concider them a wild card team real soon) The Cubs are picking up 1-3 games A DAY (spread around) Just keep winning and the gap will close very fast! A word on the Brews and Stro's: they have not given up in spite of their dire straits. Oh, game over. Ariz 4-1
  15. LA baseball. LOL....their credibility hit bottom when they signed Manroid. I see the SF Giants in their future.
  16. Losing this game is not an option....Cards beat Brew and Cubs beat Stro's and it's their asses. Tie Fla tomorro and take it one game at a time. Im convinced that LA, Col and SF will beat each other up. This is just now getting to be fun!
  17. Col blew it out.....still pick up a game on 2 teams if we hold.
  18. This is the smallest GT support yet this year. I'm getting depressed.
  19. The Astro's think It's a dam fight! Like Rocky did'nt know his Apollo Creed fight was a dam show, so doesn't Houston. They see a month to go and a chance to pull 1 game behind with a sweep. I may be over-reacting but a win tonite and tomorro are a must to put an end to this threat. Atl and Fla slugging it out....SF and LA doing the same. We just gotta win as there's a very good chance those 4 teams play around .500 ball the rest of the way.
  20. That is correct! By the latest indication Duncan feels disrespected by the FO. and the power they have been bleeding away from the Manager (and him) I don't see him returning 'tho LaRussa will try to move heaven and earth to change his mind. In my mind he will be looking for a managers job! And he will get one. But where? I see Houston, Chi and Cincy as possibles. Or the Mets??? Now wouldn't that raise the stakes even more in the cubs/cards rivalry if Duncan were to become manager of the Cubs! Joe Strauss of the STL PD has tiwtted that the possiblity of Larussa being manager of the Cards with a pitching coach other than Dave next year is significant. Yes, and that fortifies the concept of both going somewhere. DD has turned down manager jobs for years and it is possible that he would stay a pitching coach if he can stay with Tony. I see Hendry making a provacative offer if the new owners are on board.

  22. Oh well, can't win em all. Go Giants! Go Padres!
