  1. About an hour ago I agreed to go dancing with the gf Friday night at 6... Not even 5 minutes later I realized what I had done. [expletive]!!!!!
  2. Remnant Joaquin winds will kick up and allow a dong show at the PNCavern?
  3. I love me some Arrieta but I'd definitely have preferred the quiet confidence approach. Nothing but motivation fodder for PIT.
  4. And that's precisely why all that matters is getting into the playoffs. For reasons you just stated, it's very possible for them to be as good or better (or at least more experienced) in the coming years but win a few less games in the process.
  5. Splits don't mean much at this point, but this made me feel a little better about the game not being at Wrigley: Arrieta at home: 9-5 1.97 ERA Arrieta on road: 13-1 1.60 ERA Cole at home: 9-3 2.83 ERA Cole on road: 10-5 2.35 ERA And nothing to do with location, but worth noting: Arrieta in day games: 8-4 2.16 ERA Arrieta in night games: 14-2 1.51 ERA Cole in day games: 10-1 2.05 ERA Cole in night games: 9-7 3.00 ERA
  6. Chiefs will win because it's at Arrowhead, but at this point it's not even totally inconceivable for them to finish last in their division. At full strength (healthy Cutler and Jeffery) these offenses are comparable, not to mention if White was healthy too. The Chiefs obviously have the better defense, but considering their rough start and the Bears slight improvement, I'm thinking the gap isn't what it used to be. They're still a better overall team, but I'd take Jay Christler over Alex Smith all day long. Always.
  7. Crabtree.
  8. Not sure if this was sarcasm, but that's precisely the purpose of Wood/Richard/Cahill, whichever of those guys make it on. And while I hate going there, Haren has been out-pitching Hammel for a solid month now, and already shutdown the Cards once. Not saying I want Haren on the roster, but I'd probably take him over Hammel at this point. Go ahead though, call me a goon.
  9. I want no part of Hammel on the playoff roster, let alone starting a game.
  10. I like Cutler, but why thank god? Aren't we already in tank mode? I know I'm in tank mode. Because the Cubs season could be over a week from today and I'm not prepared to watch uncompetitive Bears football for 3 months, or even 6 weeks. As bad as they are, they've at least proven they can compete with good teams with Cutler at the helm. If they end up with a 3 or 4 win season and a Top 5 pick, great, but it's against my nature not to root for Bears wins. And unlike baseball, football season is far too short not to enjoy every game.
  11. Sutton practiced too, thought for sure he had a torn biceps.
  12. Cutler is practicing. Thank God.
  13. I know a guy who played at Manitoba with Idonije. Says he was by far the most hilarious dude he's ever come across in football.
  14. Josh Smith appears to be the scrubbiest scrub who ever scrubbed. Time for that 100th RBI, Bryant.
  15. They feel so [expletive] threatened by us. I love it.
  16. Truth is the Bears either hung or would have hung with all 3 teams had Cutler stayed healthy, and it's looking more and more like those are probably the 3 best teams in the NFC. I still think this team wins about 6 games, which would probably mean a pick somewhere between 8th-10th. The only way we'll have a Top 3 pick is if Cutler is out another month or two, or gets hurt again after returning.
  17. I'd think Cutler running before the Seattle game would be a good sign toward his availability this week. Fox said he also threw on Friday despite not practicing. We'll see. Welcome back Ratliff.
  18. I love Cutler and all but I don't think using Jimmy Claussen as a barometer of success is a good idea. No, but a good chunk of Cutler's haters continually call for Clausen and/or Fales.
  19. Wtf was that Fangio? This has to be one of the worst-run organizations in professional sports right now.
  20. Of course they wait until we don't have a QB to play defense.
  21. [expletive] it. Make us go to Pittsburgh. You aren't doing jack [expletive] against Arrieta.
  22. Update: Said rival manager won the claim for Jeffery. A few hours later I got the idea to sell high on Larry Fitzgerald, who is my WR2 (Julio is my 1), and offered to trade him to this guy straight up for Jeffery. About an hour after that, he accepts the trade, which is now officially my first trade in this league. Was this a dumb trade by me? Yes, Fitzgerald is going to out-produce Jeffery until both he and Cutler get healthy, but since I'm most certainly going to the playoffs again this year, it was a move made more for then as well as next year when the league increases from 3 keepers to 5 (Fitzgerald will be 33 next year, Jeffery only 27, making him the more keepable player). I also have Eric Decker, Torrey Smith, and Steve Smith to fill the void at WR2 until Jeffery gets healthy. 12-team league, 16-player rosters, still not sure how I ended up with that much depth at WR. My boss said it was a bad trade on my behalf and that I should have kept Fitzgerald. What are your thoughts?
  23. Maybe that is annoying but it's hardly a knock against either guy. True, and I suppose #2 isn't either. I guess I turned it into a "what annoys me about Pace so far" post.
  24. 1. Trading a 6th round pick for a backup UDFA Tight End who had a good chance of not making it past Houston's final cuts anyway. 2. Letting White sit for two months to try and "heal up" the stress fracture, instead of doing the surgery back in June and having him available right away after 6 weeks on the PUP, instead of it being a season-ender. I don't fault him entirely for this though, as if the fracture heals on it's own White is playing right now. Still, the fact that his first-round pick isn't on the field doesn't look too good for a new GM. 3. The over-the-top secrecy regarding injuries and just information in general, although this is likely on Fox just as much as it is Pace. 4. Not bolstering several positions of need, especially DL and CB, and also WR after the entire corps went down in preseason. On the other hand, assuming White does eventually pan out I think Pace had a pretty decent first draft. Out of the Goldman, Grasu, Langford, and Amos picks, two are starting already and the other two are being groomed. Time will tell if they're actually any good. He also didn't listen to the meatballs and jettison Cutler right away when there were no better options available. All that said, so far I'm not too impressed, but he still has plenty of time to win me over.
