  1. I'll still take Peterson, but Johnson has really closed the gap this season and its very very close. Peterson can more consistently get yardage, but CJ will have more breakout runs. I think Peterson is still better, but CJ is well up there. I've been talking about this with my brother for the last couple weeks (Titans fan) and we both agree its Peterson. CJ leads the league in runs for a loss. Peterson is as powerful as any RB and as fast as any RB except CJ. With Peterson you get few runs for a loss and you still get the breakout plays. Peterson is tied with Gore for the most runs of 60+ yards since 2006. All that said CJ is 2-5 in the RB rankings. I can see arguments for CJ, Stephen Jackson (my pick for 2), MJD and DeAngelo Williams. My top five would be 1. Peterson 2. Jackson 3. CJ 4. DeAngelo 5. MJD I cannot believe Gore isn't in your top five.
  2. see the 9-1 Vikings throttle the 4-6 Bears....yay? Dammit, we're not even good and we're only gonna have like 4 12 PM starts. LOL @ your signature. Why does the defense even bother showing up?
  3. Although I'll admit that I've done my share of cheering against Kyle Orton this year, nothing that happens can change my view that trading for Cutler was absolutely the right move for the Bears. Orton pretty much had me convinced he was the Bears' franchise QB last year after his hot start, until he crushed my hopes in the second half of the season. He just doesn't have much zip on his throws, and although he is fairly accurate, his ceiling can only go so high with his subpar arm. He is basically a poor man's Chad Pennington. Bears are probably 2-6 if Orton is QB this year, especially considering how much worse the o-line is. That is a very bad comparison. Orton has a much stronger arm than Pennington (not hard) but isn't nearly as accurate (no is as accurate as Pennington). Have you ever seen Orton throw a deep pass? And I know he is not as accurate as Pennington, which is why I said he is a poor version of Pennington.

  5. I'd agree with you but look at how much better they are when he's healthy. It can't fully be a coincidence, can it? They haven't lost since Mendenhall had his 165 yard game and became their starting RB. To me this has more to do with their success than Polamalu does. If the Steelers played the Bears again I'm sure it would be at least a 20-point Steelers victory. A safety cannot have that much effect on a game, even if he is one of the best, if not the best in the league.
  6. No Polamalu. He's one of the best players in the league. lol
  7. Comparing his rating to Cutler seems to imply a comparison of some sort, one that at this point is extremely lopsided. I suppose Smith doesn't look as bad as he used to, but its going to take a lot more than three games to erase three years of awful play. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll have around 300 yards and 3 TDs on Thursday with this defense he is facing.
  8. Looks like Kyle Orton's pixie dust has ran out.
  9. Might want to update your knowledge on Smith some. He's by no means a good QB but he isn't complete crap either. His shoulder is finally healthy and he is no longer indecisive. His QB rating is almost identical to Cutler's (not that QB rating is that valuable). You cannot be serious. Comparing Smith's 2009 QB rating to Cutler's? Smith has thrown a whole 99 passes this year. If you want to compare QB ratings, lets compare Cutler's 86.4 career rating to Smith's 65.7. Injuries cannot be used as an excuse either. This is football, everyone has aches and pains. I understand you defending players on your favorite team, but you should try to be realistic and non-biased.
  10. Right. Yesterday Buck kept talking about how great it was for AZ that they were able to get the running game going and protect their QB. I'll bet even the Cardinals realized doing that against the Bears was nothing to get excited about. There were several shots on TV of Cards players laughing on the sidelines, with incredulous looks on their faces. Now, I don't know what they were really laughing about. But it seems like we can make a pretty good guess. Teams like Cincy and Zona have to be in disbelief at just how easy it was to completely blow up the Bears. I mean, the Bears used to at least put forth a respectable effort if nothing else. Now they can't even say that. I'd be giddy with laughter too. It's like playing against empty jerseys, laid down on the field. There's just nothing there. Lol @ the Browns for only scoring six points against empty jerseys.
  11. This is a 7-9 or 8-8 football team right now. That said, I don't think the 49ers are that much better, but they'll probably win a close one just because they're at home. Looks like they have a slight advantage over us everywhere except for QB and special teams. Alex Smith is a wretched quarterback, but I have no doubt in my mind our defense will make him look like the QB the 49ers thought they were getting with the first pick in the draft.
  12. Right now the receivers are the least of this team's problems.
  13. 5 carries for Forte today. LOL.
  14. I'm not sure why you would say this. The Bears aren't putting this loss behind them. And they aren't putting the Cincy loss behind them either. These are damning losses that will hang around Lovie's neck as proof that his team isn't good enough, and his position as head coach is going to end. You don't wash this kind of blood off your hands unless you go on a huge winning streak, and frankly that's just not happening. Yet if we beat the 49ers there will inevitably be some looking at the playoff picture again.
  15. Yeah, wonderful. Geaux this, and Geaux that for several months. Can't wait. It seems that the only teams even close to the Saints' level are the Vikings, and maybe one of the Eagles/Cowboys. I rather have the Saints win than any of those other teams I just mentioned. And of course as I say that they're getting beat 14-0 by Carolina. I see the Panthers getting a wildcard and being the darkhorse of the playoffs. Their rushing attack is practically unstoppable.
  16. Even though it will take a miracle to make the playoffs now, its still nice to only have to wait 4 days to get a chance to put this loss behind us. Unlike the Cubs, I can enjoy Bears games even if they have no shot at the playoffs. Must be the small number of games.
  17. Division over. I guess Go Saints in playoffs.
  18. The nice thing about today is that one of the 5-2 teams in the East has to lose (no ties please), although I can't decide if it would be better for the Bears if the Eagles won or the Cowboys. On one hand, the Eagles losing would give us a chance to pretty much pass them for good in a few weeks, but on the other hand it would be nice if they ran away with the division, taking pressure off of our game against them in a few weeks. As far as other wild card matters go, it would help the Bears if the Redskins beat the Falcons, the Chargers beat the Giants, the Bucs beat the Packers, the Saints beat the Panthers, and the Titans beat the 49ers.
  19. Magic beat a 4-0 Suns team by 22 points tonight. I love this team.
  20. Although the Bears are indeed an average team, as of right now they do have a winning record, so technically 1-4 for that if you lose to Dallas. And I agree that Rodgers is a good QB, but I still think he has some things to work on in terms of stepping up in the pocket and avoiding at least some of the sacks. I saw a few times last Sunday where he did just that, but also some times where he just stood there when there was space to step up in the pocket. He needs to lead the team to a few victories too. He did that against the Bears, but if I remember right the main knock on him was that he could never seem to come through in the clutch toward the end of games.
  21. I hope we don't get the Pistons in the playoffs this year because I'm almost certain we'd lose. The Magic seem to have an inability to beat that team.
  22. It's just simply quite unbelievable. Tampa Bay now? What the hell. For the third time this has happened...same teams. Well, technically, Tampa Bay is not the same. The difference between the Bears and Packers schedules (other than playing 2 games against each other) is Atlanta/Philly vs. Tampa Bay/Dallas. Right, which I've pointed out in a couple of other threads. Again that's our reward for finishing 6-10 last year. Tampa Bay went 9-7 last year. It wasn't supposed to be a reward at all, but I guess we have this year's Bucs to thank for that. I'm having a hard time figuring out why Green Bay continues to earn respect in the rankings being a team that, after this weekend, will have victories against one mediocre team and four horrible teams. Looks like we'll find out in December though how good the Packers really are.
  23. It's just simply quite unbelievable. Tampa Bay now? What the hell. Yeah, their four wins have been against: Bears, Rams, Lions and Browns. Its quite embarrassing considering the Bears are by far the best team on that list and they aren't even that good lol.
  24. ESPN has him at 5'11".
  25. Yeah, the Magic are going to be very tough. It's just really tough to beat a team with such a power in the middle and great shooters outside. Sidenote: What are your feelings on all the money that was shelled out to Gortat? Didn't feel it was necessary, but I'm sure Otis has a good reason for keeping him around. I feel pretty comfortable when Gortat is on the floor.
