  1. Gotta love NFL Game Center. They just had a 3rd and 98 up for Seattle on their own 2 yard-line.
  2. It would really help the Bears' Wild Card chances if both the Seahawks and 49ers win this afternoon.
  3. Eventually, I'll get over it. Maybe even as soon as this season. When the Bears play the Vikings, if Favre is still playing (I think he will be). I'll be over it than. Yeah I don't think that counts lol. I rooted for the Vikings today, so does that mean I no longer hate the Vikings? Hell no. The whole thing just seems strange to me, and it's proof that most sports fans have a short-term memory even when it comes to their own team.
  4. Are there any Packers fans who still have respect for Favre? It's ridiculous. I don't understand how a guy who was responsible for over 15 years of Packers success can be eternally damned by fans within the span of a year or two.
  5. There are definitely positives and negatives to each team winning Sunday night. I think if we're counting on winning the division, it's better if the Eagles win so we could be in line for a first-round bye with a win next week like Raw said. As for a Wildcard, sure it's better to see the Giants win Sunday assuming we beat the Eagles, but I just don't think we will. Comparing the remaining schedules of the Giants and Eagles looks something like this. After Sunday's game against each other... Giants: vs JAC vs WAS @ MIN vs PHI @ GB @ WAS Eagles: @ CHI vs HOU @ DAL @ NYG vs MIN vs DAL Maybe the Giants schedule isn't that much more difficult, but their two Washington games I think are slightly more difficult than the Eagles' two Dallas games. I think the Jags game is slightly more difficult than the Houston game, but it's close. The big difference, however, is that the Giants have to play the Vikes in the dome while Philly gets them at home. The Giants then have to play at Green Bay while the Eagles play at Chicago, but this scenario is dependent on the Eagles beating the Bears so the latter game is irrelevant. I think we can hold a one-game lead on the Giants should they lose Sunday. They've been known for their late-season collapses anyway. My concern is that if the Giants win Sunday but we lose to the Eagles next week, it's going to make it difficult for even a Wild Card. I don't see us finishing a game ahead of Philly with that schedule they have. On second thought, why don't we just make sure to stay within a game of Green Bay and go win ourselves a division in Week 17? Or better yet win the division outright before then.
  6. Really? I'm thinking I want NYG to win, because the Bears already lost to them and if they have to compete for a Wild Card spot they are screwed. Why? Sure if they tie each other the Giants will get the nod, but if they lose tomorrow the Bears will be a full game ahead of them. I rather fight the Giants for a Wildcard than the Eagles, one because I don't see us beating the Eagles next week, and two because the Eagles have a much easier remaining schedule than the Giants. Basically you root for the Giants if you have faith in the Bears next week, and the Eagles if you don't. Therefore I'm rooting for an Eagles win tomorrow, because I don't see us winning four in a row. Hope I'm wrong though.
  7. Also, what a horrible offensive gameplan by the Dolphins. No sign of the Wildcat anywhere. I know we have a good run defense, but to put that much pressure on a third-string QB is puzzling to say the least. There seems to be some misconception that our pass defense sucks or something. I'm not sure how aware people are that we currently lead the NFL in QB Rating allowed. I believe it's down in the low 60s.
  8. It's beginning to make more sense why Alex Brown and Mark Anderson were cut. Idonije and Melton are more than pulling their weight opposite Peppers. Not saying Brown wouldn't have been able to hold his own, but I think it's pretty clear that we did not downgrade going from Brown/Anderson to Idonije/Melton.
  9. You shouldn't build your defensive gameplan around either Dolphins QB. That's not what I meant. I meant that without Henne they'll probably rely more on the Wildcat than before, and I could see the Dolphins not wanting us to get that in our heads.
  10. Yeah, that matchup scares the crap of me. I think Bowman (who is 6'1") is healthy enough to play now, so they'd be better off putting him on Marshall for this game. Or Tillman.
  11. The whole "Henne not ruled out" deal reeks of the Dolphins not wanting us to know which QB to build our defensive gameplan around. They must think we're really stupid.
  12. Personally I love the lack of respect the Bears are getting. Let them hate because it only fuels our players, especially our defense. They all said the same thing back in 2006. That we were no good and that we'd be one and done again because there was no way Rex Grossman could lead a team deep into the playoffs. Well he led us to the Super Bowl and played pretty damn well in both home playoff games. So let them hate. I mean, is this a Super Bowl team? Probably not. But is this a playoff team? It might very well be.
  13. From season's over to playing 4 days after the injury? I won't believe it until I see it. I'm almost positive we'll see Thigpen the entire game unless he gets hurt as well.
  14. Let's not forget Henry Melton either who I've been impressed with. Him and Idonije stepping up has been huge for the defense.
  15. True that on paper we should have beat Seattle, but they outplayed us that game and deserved to win. In fact, it was 23-13 until Hester's punt return TD at the end, so the game shouldn't have even ended up as close as it did. Washington on the other hand tried to give us that game on multiple occasions and we took advantage of none of them. We shouldn't have even needed that goal-line call as we had plenty of other chances to put the game away.
  16. Hillenmeyer wasn't a starter going into this year with Urlacher and Pisa healthy. I agree we've been lucky in general with injuries this year, but the Cutler concussion might have cost us that game against Seattle, as he was clearly rusty from missing time. The only game this year that still irks me is the Washington game, but since one could argue that we stole wins against the Lions and Packers, I can't really complain. To be able to say that we've only let 1 game slip away out of the first 9 isn't bad.
  17. This. When the Bears were 5-9 last year I was rooting for them to win those last two games just as hard. Even in the past when they're out of the playoffs and a better draft pick is on the line, I still root for them to win. IMO there are too few games in an NFL season to root against your own team. Enjoy and treasure every win.
  18. Oh and any word on the Knox and Hester injuries? I saw that Hester came back into the game but I think Knox left and never came back. We can't afford to lose either of these guys for any signifcant period.
  19. Great game. We ran the ball a lot better than I expected to, the O-Line was impressive, the defense was great despite not getting a sack, and Hester is all of a sudden dangerous on returns again. Why did it take us that long to put him back on kick returns? Cutler can make some amazing throws on the run and he was great in general other than the horrible pick in the endzone. Since the bye week he seems to be moving around more in the pocket, which has obviously bought him more time when throwing. I don't really expect to win Thursday, but losing that game won't mean the end of the world like it would have meant had we not won last week or this week. Unless we implode from here out we're gonna have a somewhat decent chance at either the division or a wild card. It's also funny how D.J. Moore is always in the right place at the right time when balls are tipped.
  20. Losing to the 1-7 Raptors at home does not inspire confidence. Things have been downhill ever since the 2nd half of the Utah game.
  21. Believe it or not, the Bills pass defense ranks 6th in the league in yards allowed (193.4), so Cutler's day was about average from a yards standpoint. The Bills are, however, 31st in QB Rating allowed (108.4), with only the Cowboys being worse. But Cutler did end up with a pretty good rating Sunday. That's because teams run the ball down their throat so much. Correct, and that pretty much confirms that our running game is atrocious. Not that we should expect anything different from a bad offensive line, mediocre running backs, and a pass-crazy offensive coordinator.

  23. Lol the Bears fall from 17th to 19th in ESPN's Power Rankings despite winning their game, a road game at that. People keep underestimating the Bills, but whatever. This isn't the 2008 Lions we're talking about here. But this is good. The Bears seem to play better when they're disrespected by the media.
  24. We have a better chance of winning with Favre playing versus Jackson. Wrong. When our starting center is playing and our line isn't having meltdowns like they did early in the year, he's been a much better option. He's been really good the last two weeks. His INT against NE was on a Percy drop/bobble where the ball was stolen out of his arms and the one last week was when he got hit 1.2 seconds after getting the snap from the blind side. There's no chance in hell Tarvaris wins that game last week. It's ridiculous how much confidence you all of a sudden have in your team after one comeback win. You're still 3-5 and Favre has still been bad this year. Stop trying to deny that. What the hell are you talking about? Give me an indication of where I've displayed this extreme amount of confidence? You're completely making that up out of nowhere. Favre is better than Tarvaris and has been really good the last two games. That has nothing to do with confidence in the team. It's just hard to imagine a Vikings fan defending Favre like this if they lose that game and are sitting at 2-6. Maybe I'm wrong. But I've talked to a lot of Vikings fans the past couple days who seem to think Favre saved their season on Sunday. I just don't get it. The fact that he helped engineer a comeback victory doesn't change the fact that he's had a pretty horrible first half and that the Vikings are still a rather unimpressive team. And I'm not sure I'd consider his game against the Pats to be "really good". It was alright.
