  1. That's not really half the country. It's a large landmass, but not a lot of people. Still though. Even parts of Illinois and half of Michigan are showing GB/SF. Doesn't make sense. East central Iowa is loaded with Bears fans, yet they're getting the Packers game.
  2. Also for the FOX late game, about 80% of the country is showing Indy/Dallas, when Atlanta/TB would be a MUCH better alternative. Okay done venting now.
  3. Has anyone seen the NFL TV map for this week yet? Half of the country is showing the GB/SF game. What the hell? I don't understand how the Bears have such a small region when they're a first place team, I don't care if they are playing the Lions. It's not like the Packers are playing anyone good.
  4. My team seems to be getting hot at the right time. Lloyd and Tolbert have been huge free agent pickups for me this year.
  5. Tall orders, indeed. I don't think this team has enough consistency from anyone on the offense (especially the O-Line) to make a Super Bowl run. And unfortunately I think our team might be peaking at the wrong time. I have a great fear that the Eagles game was the pinnacle of the 2010 Bears, but I'd love to be wrong.
  6. Drew Stanton is really bad. That said, even a bad QB can throw a jump ball to Calvin Johnson. Therefore I'm still mildly concerned.
  7. With as good as Westbrook looked last night I doubt there will be much of a dropoff.....meaning GB will still win by 30.
  8. Just saw the highlight of Derek Anderson going off on a reporter at the podium after he was asked about "smiling" on the sideline while the Cardinals were getting their crap handed to them. This has to be one of my biggest pet peeves in sports. When will people figure out that cracking a smile on the sideline doesn't equate to not giving a damn? On the other hand, watching another Cardinals post-game tirade after a MNF game was pretty cool. Denny's was better though.
  9. LOL @ Freeman being ahead of Cutler. Are you freaking serious? Oh well, what does he know? Behind Namath, Bradshaw is probably the most overrated QB in the history of the NFL.
  10. Patrick Willis Whoops. I was going division-by-division in my head and when I got to the NFC West I just passed it by without thinking much of it lol.
  11. I agree that Urlacher is no longer elite, but I'm failing to see how Briggs isn't an elite LB. In fact, I dare someone to name five LBs in the NFL who are currently head and shoulders better than him. James Harrison, DeMarcus Ware, Ray Lewis, Clay Matthews? Who else is there?
  12. This is true. Heck, I'd almost rather have the 5th seed then win the division with the 3rd seed. Either way you are playing on the first weekend and either way, you are playing on the road in the next round and likely the next 2 rounds. I'd trade a home game against the Saints for a road game against the Rams or Seahawks anyday, and I don't care if both teams have good home records. Eh, I'm not so sure I'd hate to face New Orleans in Chicago in January. Actually, if the Bears are the 3-seed and have to play in the 1st round, they most likely won't be facing NO. They'd get Eagles, Giants, Packers in round 1 and then likely get NO in round 2. Don't forget the Bucs. If they can find someway to grab the 6th seed while we take the 3rd, that creates the scenario of a warm-weather Florida team coming up to Chicago in the dead of winter. Now THAT matchup I'd definitely take over playing an NFC West team on the road. But of course this all would involve one of the Packers or Saints missing the playoffs, and I don't see either one missing it.
  13. Great win, obviously. The score doesn't really reflect how badly we dominated them, but I won't be picky. The end of the game was ridiculous though. Between them trying to take the ball from Knox after he recovered the onside kick (and was down by contact) to the crap that happened while taking a knee. The Eagles are one of the most classless teams in the NFL, and it's been that way for quite some time now. I don't know if that's a result of Reid or what. Just admit you were outplayed and move on. Looking back on it, the disaster that was the Washington game might have been the best thing to happen to this team, particularly the offense. It seemed to force Martz to re-evaluate his game plan over the bye week, and since then we've been running the ball more often and more efficient, which in turn has led to more success for the passing game as well. Funny how that works.
  14. This is why the Cowboys blowing the game against the Saints was so horrible. If the Bears have to rely on a Wild Card, there's a good chance the Saints will beat them for the 5th seed, meaning instead of playing an NFC West team in the first round, we'll have to travel to GB or PHI/NYG. Anyway, this game has the ability to be a potential let-down, so please be careful. And I don't want to see Tim Jennings anywhere near Calvin. That's a 9-inch height differential. Tillman or Bowman, please.
  15. I think they can split the last 6 but that's probably the best they'll do. And from the looks of it right now, 10-6 is still iffy for a Wild Card spot. So even though GB is good, I think winning the division remains the easiest playoff route. But all of that could change after today.
  16. They won't if the Bucs pull off a win in Baltimore. I fully expect TB to be ranked in the top 5 if that happens.
  17. Yeah I think we're currently better than both the Bucs and Giants (now that they've lost their top two receivers). Hopefully that rings true and we at least grab the final Wild Card spot. Or if both CHI and GB keep winning, there's an outside chance that the Week 17 game could be for the division and HFA, with the loser taking the 5th seed. In that case, losing the game would still suck, but there would at least be a nice consolation prize in that the loser would play the winner of the West. But needless to say we need the Saints to start losing games, and tomorrow would be a good start. I want to be optimistic for Sunday. Cold weather and a bad playing surface aren't exactly ideal conditions for Vick, which is why we'll probably play well enough to stay in the game only to have our hearts broken by Akers at the end. Prove me wrong, though. Eagles 24 Bears 23
  18. Oh and that parity wheel is awesome. It's a great thing to bring up the next time someone asks me why I prefer the NFL to college football. Because that is exactly why.
  19. So are the Packers.
  20. Their ability to limit turnovers, keep the defense off the field and the ball out of Vick's hands as long as possible. I did say they'll have to score points but I don't think it will necessarily need to be 27. If the offense can't stay on the field it's only a matter of time before Vick has his way with our defense.
  21. Again, the Bears have scored 27 only twice this year, and they've faced some crappy defenses. Philly is top ten overall and against the pass, and top half against run. Chicago's offense has not come close to clicking in a fashion that would make me think they can score 27 this game. Obviously they aren't pitching another shuout. But that's like saying the defense is going to have to show up because I don't think the offense will score 50 this week. And again, I did not say we had to score 27 points to win this game.
  22. Basically I meant the offense is going to have to score some points this week because we're not getting a shutout or anything close. I didn't say we'd have to score 27, but why can't we? The Eagles defense isn't elite and we're at home. Anyway, I think 21 points gets it done. Remember we have yet to allow more than 23 points this year on defense, although that could certainly change this weekend.
  23. Damn I didn't know McCoy was that good until I looked at his stats. This game is going to won or lost by our offense. The defense is going to give up it's share of points this week so it will be up to Cutler & company to answer. The positive from last night's game is that the Giants had 5 turnovers compared to the Eagles 2 and were still in the game up until the end. Needless to say we can't turn the ball over much if at all.
  24. I'm still not buying the Bucs. And the good news is that their next three games are: @BAL, vs ATL, @WAS. I think there's a decent chance they lose two of those three, so if the Bears can win two of their next three they should be ahead of them for a WC. And the Bucs, Saints, and Falcons all play each other once more, so we'll get some inevitable losses from some of those teams eventually. But we need to pull hard for the Cowboys over the Saints on Thanksgiving. If they play like they did the last two games, I think they can give the Saints a run.
