  1. hahaha...look what happens when you jump ship. now, kiss and make up. seriously, why are people so pissed off at Vanilla Ice? get a grip. as to the game...blech. all these wasted opppurtunities are getting extremely frustrating.
  2. man i wish derosa or roberts could play ss. if i was hendry i'd be pretty tempted to take a gamble that one of them could handle it in 2009. particularly considering the theriot doesn't really offer anything defensively anyway.
  3. thank you. my hope in man-kind may be restored. moving soriano out of the lead-off spot is fine, but not for someone like theriot.
  4. i think guzman ends up in Howry's spot.
  5. Why in the heck would you just want it over? Just win one game at a time. It has been done before. Exactly. Win game 3 (which we should) and you're talking about having to win 2 games over 3 days, one in L.A. one in Chicago. Neither would be poor pitching matchups. I'm as disappointed as anyone and am not overly optimistic but I sure as hell don't just want it over. Why does everyone say this? We should have won game 1 and 2 as well. There is nothing that this team is doing right now that makes me believe we should win any more games this year. Rich Harden vs. Hiroki Kuroda is a huge advantage. Ryan Dempster vs. Derek Lowe and Carlos Zambrano vs. Chad Billingsley is not. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN200806060.shtml it's a big advantage, but it's not like the offense is assured of doing anything. eta: in 15.1 innings against the Cubs this year, Kuroda has given up 1 ER.
  6. It could be more than just that though. Who knows how he was acting in the clubhouse? true
  7. not sure what swinging at pitches out of the zone has to do with guts, but whatever.
  8. i feel like one of those battered wives who just keeps giving her husband another chance thinking he'll change. i get too upset about this crap. i need to get a life (and some Naproxen).
  9. make them throw you strikes, soriano. kthanksbye
  10. i need details.
  11. it's probably one of or the biggest defining moments in your life. you wouldn't care about that pitch. you'll see the replay a million times.
  12. forte and jones really should have a field day.
  13. i admit i'm kind of a "glass half empty" fan, but i have definitely been bothered by this. they could easily be 4-0 or 3-1. having said that, they have a very favorable schedule for the next 4-5 weeks and hopefully can take advantage of it. orton is still struggling a lot at times, but i've been fairly pleased with his play as a whole. i'm hoping that he'll get better as the season progresses.
  14. I actually think he's played his way onto the playoff roster based solely on his 1 inning last night With a 3.00 WHIP? 2 intentional walks, but I guess he deserved it by giving up the leadoff triple. I was kind of kidding. He did get out of a mess, but he got himself into that same mess. Howry's been awful on the whole, and Lou's given him a lot of chances. Before the weekend is out, odds are he'll have another bad outing and then who knows where they will stand. the bolded is what makes me think (fear) that Howry will be on the roster. Lou is giving him chance after chance like he's just dying to find a good reason to get him on the NLDS roster. but like you said, he may blow up sometime in the next four games and take himself out of it.
  15. This is what I said at the time. I wasn't really supportive, but I took kind of a wait and see approach. For the most part (though not entirely) he's done the things I asked back then.
  16. i think that's partly to be expected coming back from the surgery though, no? that's the risk they'll run if they use him in the playoffs.
  17. and given the players in front of him.
  18. still pretty demoralized after the last two weeks. i'm not looking forward to this one, but having Westbrook out would help a bit. i'm actually more concerned about his pass catching than his running.
  19. yeah, pretty much the same here. this dude is weak. scheduled in june? he's not even married to her? pathetic. to top it off, the WS wouldn't even start until Oct. 22 so he wouldn't be missing the Cubs first championship in 100 years if he's going on vacation the "second week of October". FAIL
  20. i think it's perfectly reasonable to say that hurricane Ike threw a huge wrench into the Astros season. but it's beyond stupid stuff like playing home games in Milwaukee. i'd venture to say their minds were on much more important things than the games they were playing the last several days. they're human. publicly whining about Bud Selig in this fashion is incredibly lame though.
  21. which would be pretty stupid.
  22. there's a link on that page. also, this was posted elsewhere a few weeks back but i don't remember where.
  23. late to this thread, but i was actually in Milwaukee Monday and Tuesday. Monday night i was at a sports bar when a local news crew came in looking for fan interviews on reaction to the news. i told them i'm actually a Cubs fan but they wanted my opinion anyway. i admit it was pretty satisfying soaking in the Brewers demise and getting interviewed on television in the process. i never did see the news though so i don't even know if they used my interview. in my own mind, they did, and it was glorious.
  24. What'd he say? He still hates Bruce Froemming. hahahaha....he probably did say something to that effect. don't let me down, espn classic.
