  1. True, but the point remains the same. You're not going to see much love on a Cubs board for Pujols right now (if ever) just like you wouldn't get Lee love on a Cards board if the circumstances were reversed.
  2. No, mostly the people who are just here for the chicken wings. I'm hungry.
  3. Some people actually predicted that the Cubs would have a hard time scoring runs this year. The problems we are seeing this year are the same problems of last year and the year before. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it. I wonder why Hendry doesn't see it though. And that problem is not injuries. Clearly not true Cubs fans
  4. hats off to the az pitching staff  Tip of the cap. CubfaninCA, you aren't Dusty, are you? Well, I was close.
  5. I have a feeling the feeling would be the same if Pujols was out and the Cardinals had scored 5 runs in their last 6 games and somebody started a thread on a Cards board about how Lee is such a class act. I know this is the "Rivalries" forum, but this is still a Cubs board. You can't really expect too much Pujols love under the current circumstances.
  6. Wood gets excused for poor performance because of nagging injuries. Why not Moises? I remember him saying he felt healthy in 2004 for the 1st time in a while, and the results showed that. I'm assuming he still feels healthy now, and he's still producing. Completely different situations in my mind. BTW - based on the amount of time he's missed the last couple years, I'd assume he's still suffering from nagging injuries. And didn't he credit his better health in 2004 to his improved offseason workout regimen? Are you mad at Maddux for just now improving his offseason workout regimen too? I know you're not asking me, but I'm answering anyway. I wouldn't say I'm mad at Maddux at all, but I find it a little dissapointing that he all of the sudden decided in a contract year that he needs to work harder in the offseason.
  7. Letting Alou walk was absolutely the right move for Hendry to make at the time. The guy didn't come close to living up to his contract 2/3 of the time he was here. He was getting old and is/was an injury concern. I don't blame Hendry for not re-signing him. The problem though, is that Hendry didn't replace Alou's production. Even though it was lower then I fell it should have been, it was still better then Hollandsworth, Dubois, Jones etc.
  8. Honestly, I think many of us probably expected these results deep down. I mean, the Cubs had a bad offense and added J. Jones and Pierre to that expecting to make it better. Then there's the fact that they are relying on two "front line" starters who have a history of injuries. Take away the best player from all of this (Lee) and it's a wonder that they're above .500. They likely won't be for long. I hope I'm wrong.
  9. Bruce gives another Prior update
  10. hahahaha...the cure for your offensive blues...why Bynum and Blanco of course!!! Jesus
  11. I believe this to be the most likely of all the predictions made so far.
  12. Again, I know we're all frustrated, but there are two things I'd like to point out: 1. If the article is accurate, Prior's only going to miss a few days. 2. Anyone who has really had food poisoning knows it's not a matter throwing back some Pepto and toughing it out. I've only had it once, but I felt like I could barely move for at least two days. However, I do think all the points about Prior's past abuse and the fact that he shouldn't be delayed for several months because of a "virus" and a shoulder strain are valid. I just don't want the food poisoning thing to get blown out of proportion.
  13. I'm pretty frustrated myself, but food poisoning can be really debilitating. It's definitley not just a matter of being in the restroom for a few hours, believe me.
  14. Why so bitter?? Do you really have to ask that question? 98 years of suckage will often make one bitter. Shocking, I know.
  15. Cruz is wild tonight but it doesn't matter becuase the Cubs can't lay off. He goes 8 innings on 86 pitches giving up one run (HR by Murton). Cubs lose and afterwards Dusty utters his famous "tip your cap" line about Cruz.
  16. I find it to be pretty easy.
  17. According to the Daily Herald (Bruce), he's now recovering from food poisoning. :? Edit: http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/story.asp?id=185051
  18. I think Roger should just try to stay in the spotlight a little longer and keep doing his best Favre imitation. It's sooooooo interesting.
  19. True. The problem is, everyone (except for Baker and Hendry apparently) knew Jones couldn't hit lefties to save his life and still no RH "power" hitter was brought in to come off of the bench (unless you consider Restovich to be one). Either way, Restovich and/or Hairston are better options in RF against a LHP then Jones.
  20. He might have more luck if he swung a striped bass when hitting against lefties. Hmmmmmmm...not a bad idea. Are there any BP pitchers who specialize in throwing striped bass? Preferably left handed?
  21. Dude needs to hit out his slump, dudes. Just like a striped bass.
  22. Because he was pitching so much better? Jerome Williams as a starter pitched better than Rusch, and that's not saying much. Remember that Marshall didn't pitch too well in his first couple starts either but he's doing well right now. Let's give Guzman a little time. I mean if Rusch can get five starts, why should Guzman not be given the same liberty? I'd rather stick with Guzman at this point as well.
