  1. Thank you! I'm sick of the Neifi bashers. Way to miss the point.
  2. I put 2B. I primarily played SS and pitched in HS, but I'm guessing I've lost a step or two at age 29 so I probably don't have the range to play SS. Problem is, (like the Cubs) we have too many 2B. We need a closer. I'll do it.
  3. I'd like to see: Pierre Hairson 2B Walker 1B Ramirez Barrett Jones Murton Cedeno Unfortunately, I'm afraird Neifi will get much or most of the playing time at 2B.
  4. Lopez is not a weak hitter. Doesn't matter what kind of hitter he is...he hit a 3 run homer. But it doesn't someone show that Z is not an elite pitcher. Lopez is a good hitter. Good hitters are going to hit homeruns. Also, "elite" pitchers are going give up homeruns every once in a while.
  5. It of course has nothing to do with Prior and Wood battling injuries. nor did Blanco's CERA have anything to do with being Zambrano's personal catcher. I've heard alot of this "everyone prefers pitching to Blanco" stuff, but I don't think I have ever heard it from anyone from the Cubs organization. plus, even if the pitchers do prefer pitching to Blanco, that doesn't mean that they would prefer Blanco starting when they are pitching, as Blanco can't hit. That's what I was thinking. Who says "all our pitchers prefer pitching to Blanco"? I've never heard that in my life. Not even speculation to that effect.
  6. Yeah but he can't hit sac flies and strikes out too much. note: sarcasm he has 2 sac flies this year! hahah...I know. He had one on opening day and I had to laugh. Also of note, Glendon Rusch is not good.
  7. Yeah but he can't hit sac flies and strikes out too much. note: sarcasm
  8. Thanks, Serena. I'll play around with that for today's game.
  9. I have the same problem Do you have FireFox at work? If not, can you get it? With Firefox you can force popups to open in a new tab. If you can't get to or use Firefox let me know. Can't get firefox (blocked by the company). I think I'm pretty much screwed. I just can't download the new media player without authorization.
  10. I have the same problem
  11. Gotcha beat. I cut him after he didn't play Monday and I read he wasn't going to be a starter. Bow down, for I am soapy, lord of the idiots.
  12. I prefer "Slap Nasty".
  13. According to Sullivan , Baker will have Cedeno on a short leash. Why am I not surprised he's so anxious to get his boy Neifi in there?
  14. As others have indicated, Williams > Rusch. If you're going to bump anyone, bump Glendon.
  15. I guess I don't see anything in those articles that I would strongly disagree with (other then the Astros going 94-68 ). I don't see any reason to believe (not hope, but believe) that the Cubs will be any better then average. Wood and Prior are both major concerns. If they miss a lot of games between them, the Cubs will be in trouble. Their offense doesn't offer a lot of optimism either. Ramirez and Lee are both studs, but Lee may very well regress (I hope not) and Ramirez can probably be considered an injury risk as well. Barrett will also need to duplicate a career year. Jones and Pierre are both coming off of very disapointing years and will need to improve. Murton looks great, but he and Cedeno are both question marks at this point and who knows how the 2B situation will play out? Honestly, average sounds about right if one is trying to guess how the Cubs will fair this season. Again, I hope that I'm wrong and all these things break the way of the Cubs. If so, then they could be much better then average.
  16. It's not that hard to improve on what we did last year, Rocket. Do you remember the countless AB's where there were RISP, and whoever was up there would get anxious and swing at the first pitch and hit into a double play? All the friggin time? i don't think getting jacque jones is the way to remedy that Nor do I. But you said that clutch hitting was mainly luck. My point was had we been more patient at those times last year, we'd have scored more runs. "Luck" might not be the best word, but it's definitely a pretty random stat that usually varies from year to year.
  17. yeah, that was the problem. these guys really can't be that oblivious to walks, can they? ](*,)
  18. Bruce mentions the Walker for Matos rumbling could possibly have legs... http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=169149
  19. WHO, WHO, WHO...HOOSIERS!! Agreed. Good offense and terrible defense. Gonzaga also plays some poor defense so it should be interesting. Earl was great and Vaden gutted out a great performance considering his physical limitations. Strickland with the HUGE defensive play at the end. Killingsworth was killing me with some of those misses underneath. Good win. I wonder how Vaden's ankle is going to react and how serious Strickland's shoulder injury is. Also, make free throws, please.
  20. I assume if that deal goes down, Hairston would be the starting 2B (or platoon with Neifi) which would limit his time in the OF. Let me just add that this is the one of the dumbest trade ideas I've ever seen. :puke:
  21. I'd take a good long look at Guzman for the rotation. I hate to "rush" him, but I'd consider sliding him in there. He's obviously an injury risk, but is he more likely to get injured at MLB v. AAA? I think he gives them a better chance than Hill. Guzman will likely go down with an injury at some point anyway, so why not get what you can out of him. I hate to say stuff like that, but that's how I'm starting to feel.
  22. At this point, even though it won't be a popular sentiment here I'd throw Guzman out there in the rotation right away when we break camp. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt, but while he's healthy he's a better option than Hill or Rusch, and our rotation will need the help. Pitch count him. We'll carry 12 pitchers anyway, and we have a nice, expensive bullpen. Get what you can out of him, because at worst you end up with what you've gotten from him the past 3 seasons, and at best he lives up to his billing. Or at least he helps keep you afloat until May when one of Wood, Miller or Prior should be back. I agree, US. I think you have to get him out there if possible. I hate to take the risk, but Guzman's going to have to deliver the goods or the Cubs are going to have to start thinking about cutting bait at some point soon. This is an oppurtunity for Guzman to step up. With 12 pitchers, they can limit his pitch count.
  23. outstanding
