  1. "How it all unraveled for Baker". An article from Bruce today about Dusty's tenure in Chicago. I think this was the most depressing part:
  2. The Cubs can certainly (and should) take on Burrell's salary if they are giving up little talent in return. I definitely think it's worth looking in to.
  3. This should not even be close. Doors in a landslide.
  4. The only thing I don't like about your idea TT is including both Marshall and Guzman. I have no problem doing it for Guzman OR Marshall, Pie and Jones. I also wouldn't oppose adding another prospect to the deal as well. I just don't like the idea (and don't really think it's necessary) to include Marshall and Guzman. I really think people are giving Pie a little too much credit if they're banking on him to be as good as or better then DeJesus is. He might be, but it's pretty freaking far from a lock at this point.
  5. This one is difficult. Both quality. I'm going to have to think about it a while. Ok, done. Soundgarden it is.
  6. I really hate that these two are facing each other so early. It was a very difficult decision, but I went with Rage.
  7. Except that Murton possibly holds future value for this team while Nevin does not. I'm not completely angered by Nevin's PT at this point because I'm hoping it's going to increase his trade value. If it continues past the deadline, I'll be furious.
  8. :tips cap to Garland, Vasquez and Buehrle:
  9. How do you define "respectable", Dusty? Playing .500 for the rest of the season? Really getting a "run" going and flirting with getting back to .500? Either is not "respectable" in my opinion with a $100 million payroll, fool.
  10. Of course not. Dusty will just cite the error by Gonzalez as the reason the Cubs scored. please don't forget the "clutch" hit by Jones.
  11. Get both and put Jacque in CF. There, now everyone is happy (except for the pitchers).
  12. sub .300 OBP on the day. need more clutch hits :^o
  13. I think it's unfair to say Carlos was victimized by Eyre - he loaded the bases with 1 out. The fact that Eyre couldn't undo Carlos's mess w/o giving up 1 run isn't totally on Eyre. If Eyre had started the inning and given up the lead - then I'd say Carlos was victimized. As it was, Carlos just stayed in a few batters too many. If Carlos was victimized by anyone, it was the offense.
  14. Two words: Jeff Blauser Comparing Jeff Blauser to Carlos Lee is ridiculous. If you're worried about his Wrigley Field numbers, then don't trade for Dunn either since he hits a ton at Wrigley. I'm not "worried" about Wrigley numbers. I was responding to jwhatti's statement that we should take into account Lee's numbers at Wrigley. I don't really think that's a factor. It's 116 ABs. People were clamouring about Blauser because he always played well at Wrigley. In all likelyhood, it has more to do with the pitchers he is facing rather then the park.
  15. I'm starting to wonder if it might be advisable to try Jones in CF if Pie isn't ready in 2007. That is of course if they could pick up some significant bats in the corner OF spots. Jones production actually becomes pretty admirable if he's in CF. My guess is he can't/won't do it though. Here's my dillusional (pre-coffee) dream (just let me have my moment): Walker 2B Cedeno SS (not ideal in this spot) D. Lee 1B Cabrera RF (young arms traded to get him?) Ramirez 3B C. Lee LF Barrett C Jones CF Pitcher Not likely a viable option, but it's an interesting scenario and only requires signing one free agent (C. Lee). Of course, it also required pulling off a trade to bet Cabrera that I don't think Hendry is capable of making.
  16. It depends a lot on how Prior finishes up the season. If he stays healthy and they keep him around, I'd probably go something like... Zambrano Schmidt/Zito Prior Two of Marshall/Marmol/Hill/Guzman Two of the Marshall/Marmol/Hill/Guzman group get traded for a hitter. Also, I'm still very foolishly hoping that Jerome Williams can still put something together. He could factor in as well, even if it's just as a spot starter in case of injury.
  17. Two words: Jeff Blauser
  18. Don't forget their rookie SP couldn't even shut-out the Brewers for 7 innings. Need to work on that, son.
  19. hahahahaha...so Murton PH's against a RHP. Dusty is amaizing.
  20. Somewhat are - Cedeno couldn't get a bunt down to move Jones to third. sounds like he should have gotten to 3rd anyway.
  21. Because he can't see the game, either. Dusty should pull Jock and bring in his new pinch-running specialist, Murton.
  22. I guess the "rookies" are killing the Cubs again.
  23. I can't see the game, why didn't Jones go to 3rd?
  24. Bush gets to hit for himself in the top of the 8th, which seems ridiculous until he goes yard.
