    His defense has really sucked so far. His defense was pretty highly regarded, wasn't it? I'd chalk it up to him barely playing 3rd during spring training due to his shoulder.

    I like this, but I would change best FA OF to best FA pitcher, because I really don't think there are any big FA position players worth signing. Extend Samardzija Trade Hammel Sign a TOR pitcher Trade for an OF We should have money for Samardzija, FA pitcher, and still be able to take a bit of salary in a trade.

    People were jumping on last year until his injury. He's never not hit.

    Almora is almost 4 years younger, so no. And has put up very good numbers except for 1 month (including the AFL), and plays good defense at a premium position. Unless Kyle is just asking if Bruno would be higher than he is, not higher than Almora.

    Except for the fact that IF they decide to deal Shark he will have way more value at midseason than at year's end. Either trade him between now and the trading deadline or lock him up as a long-term piece. Those are the only two logical options. There is zero to be gained for having him win (HA!) meaningless games in August. If we had signed Tanaka or Darvish we wouldn't be playing meaningless games in August. Trading Shark (and probably Hammel) at the deadline probably means 2 or 3 more years of meaningless games in August. Maybe, but I really doubt they'd be as good in the OF as you think.

    And yet Olt's five home runs coming into today had him below replacement. Hence the "continuing to improve" part.

    Olt spent last year as a blind man, it wouldn't be all that surprising if he gradually improved and settled into being a slightly-above-average player.
