  1. What's going on with TN's pitching?
  2. How does being right or wrong about such a statement have anything to do with being smarter or not? It's just goofy hyperbole. You're right. I should be taking this much more seriously. I apologize. Didn't know you were kidding with all of that and should have realized it with such an obviously ridiculous statement; my bad. It's ok.
  3. It was impossible to have sustained success because they drafted really poorly under him which is so dumbfounding when you consider he was a freakin farm director It doesn't take abandoning all hope of competitiveness for 3 years to not draft like a [expletive] moron. Regarding next year, I can't see it happening without Baez and Bryant playing key roles, and I firmly believe they will not see the bigs until we've sucked another pre-FA year out of them meaning we have no intention of competing next season. They drafted poorly, developed poorly, and changed their mind on what type of organization they wanted to build every 6 months. Hendry made a lot of good trades/signings, but his hit rate wasn't high enough to make up for the things he did poorly. As for next year, I think enough good/decent prospects will be ready to contribute that they'll make a couple big signings. Adding a couple good hitters to the hitters that are already good, adding an additional SP, and adding Vizcaino and Rivero to the bullpen, I think we'll be playing meaningful games in Sept. If next year is like this year, or only slightly better, I'll admit that I'm a gullible idiot.

  5. I keep forgetting how miserable he's been outside of his walk-free month I'm much less worried about Almora, but much less excited about what he could become.
  6. I'll repeat what I've said one more time and then move on.... 1) I always assumed the defense had to make an out in order for it to be considered a fielder's choice (as in, they made the choice to get another runner out). My thinking was that if they were late getting to said runner, it would be the same as them being late to getting the ball to first. 2) I never said it should necessarily be a hit, just not an out. The same way that a sacrifice doesn't count as a hit or an out. 3) I don't really care. It was just a random thought I had, brought on by the fact that I want Rizzo to end up with an OPS over .900 because that would make my wonderful life slightly more wonderful. 4) Good day.
  7. Hendry was good at a lot of things, but it was impossible to have sustained success the way the organization was built. Next year will be the start of consistently competitive teams. I know people will pretend like I've been saying Logan Watkins was going to turn the team around and stuff like that, but I haven't. And if I'm wrong, next year I will admit that you're all smarter than me.
  8. Almora 2-2 with 2 2B. Please be turning things around, that would make the untimely death of Javier Baez a bit more palatable.
  9. In spring training, guys are working on things and don't care who is up. In AAA, you get crummy veterans who are capable of noticing and executing "Hey, this guy will swing and miss at most breaking balls in the dirt." Spring training was a bad example to use. It just seems crazy that the "this guy will swing and miss at most breaking balls in the dirt" ability would be so drastically different between AA and AAA. Just seems like there has to be something else in addition to that.
  10. Baez has done alright in spring training the past couple years (if memory serves) and he was most likely facing AAA caliber pitching there. How does a new level turn him into such a turd?
  11. Soler and Bryant playing so well is the only thing keeping me from thinking Kyle thoughts. Please don't break again, Soler. Holy hell, Baez has been pitiful.
  12. It sure would be swell to get him.
  13. Because the batter isn't sacrificing himself That's right. What I'm saying is that there's a third way to score things.
  14. It doesn't make an out either. So why not count it the same as a sacrifice?
  15. Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed or cared if it had been someone like Barney. I just want Rizzo to have a .900 OPS. The ruling is situationally unfair.
  16. but the point is that he did make an out, he caused another baserunner to make an out. would charge the out to the baserunner and take hit away from him? I'm talking about last night when the throw was late and they didn't the out at home.
  17. Would it be fair to the pitcher to charge him with giving up a hit when he didn't? More fair. It was his team that wasn't able to record an out. Seeing-eye grounders and bloop singles suck for the pitcher, too, but no out is recorded. I don't lose any sleep over this or anything, I just didn't realize till last night that it still counted as a fielder's choice if they don't get an out. Seemed weird to me.
  18. It just doesn't seem right to me when players are charged with an out when they don't make an out. Life's not fair, I guess.
  19. He was actually pretty solid. Results don't tell you everything. I don't understand why it's considered a fielder's choice and counts as an out if they don't record an out. Why does Rizzo deserve a hit? He could have easily been thrown out had the fielder decided to throw to first. He hit the ball, the defense (without making an error) was not able to record an out. It should at least be scored the same as a sacrifice.
  20. He was actually pretty solid. Results don't tell you everything. I don't understand why it's considered a fielder's choice and counts as an out if they don't record an out.
  21. Finally a good AB by Baez. Worked full count, fouled off a couple pitches, then got a single. And it was a walk-off single. So that's cool.
  22. I hate national broadcasts, they never have a clue what they're talking about but they say everything with such confidence.
