  1. 2nd Javy BB. He's got AAA figured out now, and was wondering if you would all be so kind as to let him know how his nuts taste.
  2. I thought Bryant's "in play (runs)" was a HR, but it was just a stupid double.
  3. Javybomb, you bonerless mother-effers.
  4. Have to imagine Amaya will be pretty high on the list when he ends the season with his 1.046 OPS.
  5. Great, not only are the Cubs doomed today and forever, but now Tim is going around hurting everyone's feelings.
  6. OMG FML!! So now it will probably be 2020 before we try to compete.
  7. My favorite part was how Javy's contact rate in his first 10 AAA games is important but a pitcher's peripherals don't matter. Did da lounge orchestrate a massive work of performance art?
  8. The money spent on the Dominican facility and the overage on IFAs is a piddling pile of piss You are.
  9. As they proved this year, they won't spend unless free agents magically start becoming five years younger. Having money isn't enough. The farther you are from competitiveness, the less it makes sense to sign anyone over 30. I'm banking on them seeing 2015 as the beginning of possible competitiveness. Plus with the barebones payroll they'll take into the offseason + the prospect timetable, it makes a lot of sense that this coming offseason would be the offseason. That's why, if it's not, I'll be very sad.
  10. I really think they'll start to spend after this season. They've been spending money on the organization, with stuff like facilities and IFA. Soriano's contract is up after this season, which I think is the last of the inherited contracts, and the actual impact prospects will start arriving. If they still don't start spending, then I'll start crying like a poopy baby like the rest of you, only I probably won't be as annoying. Also, Braun didn't seem very concerned when he broke Segura's face. What a dick.
  11. It made sense to me that they didn't want to spend big on anyone except Tanaka this past offseason, but with the top prospects on track to begin arriving at the end of this year and all the money they *should* have, they better go big this offseason. I've been fine with the "suck hard until we're ready" strategy, because I was much more annoyed with the old, expensive crappy 2009-2011 teams than the teams the past couple years. But if this offseason resembles last offseason, that's just a "suck hard and hope for a miracle" strategy.
  12. Olt is 5 for 33 with 14 K and no BB against RHP. Given his playing time so far, even approaching "below average" against them will get him more opportunities, but in the meantime there's also guys with some future with the team beyond 2014 that can get playing time(Barney, Kalish, Valbuena) to say nothing of the benefits of an actual meritocracy among similar players. I want Valbuena to play 2B everyday. I know Barney has value, but Olt hits homeruns and that's a lot cooler.
  13. If Olt had enough AB's to qualify, he would be 12th in OPS among 3rd basemen, right ahead of Pedro Alvarez and David Wright. I know that's partially because he's a quasi-platoon player, but that's still not bad at all. He also plays good defense. Not a whole lot has to change for him to become a top 10 3B.
  14. Bryant is just sharting all over these AA pipsqueaks.
  15. Probably a few more weeks because he hasn't played in an actual extended spring training yet, just a lot of BP. Thanks. I'm headed to Tennessee next weekend, looks like I'll be out of luck.
  16. They're 99% sure he's dead but waiting for the MRI to confirm. Nu uh.
  17. Has there been any indication of when Soler would be back?
  18. I'd put the over/under on Kyle Hendricks' Cy Youngs at 9. And Alcantara has his OPS above .800 now, after his slow start. EDIT: Ok, maybe 8.
  19. The debates as it is are "should be we be a tiny bit worried or not worried at all." Thanks Kyle!
  20. If Bryant's AB's had come in reverse order tonight, the only debate would be whether he's super awesome or super super awesome.
  21. I'm glad Vogelbach decided he doesn't want to get out anymore.
  22. http://voices.suntimes.com/sports/inside-the-cubs/cubs-top-pitching-prospect-c-j-edwards-to-miss-more-than-a-month-with-shoulder-injury/#.U1rR_zd5mc0 given his stature does this sort of track him into a bullpen arm in the bigsor is this just one of those things with nothing to read into for the future. That'd be pretty optimistic. We should probably just go ahead and see if he can play LF.
  23. Vizcaino loads the bases with 0 outs, then Ks 2 and gets a line-out.
