  1. thanks for the heads up, just flipped it on
  2. i dont think saddened is the right word, but am i the only one who feels that way about this? why cant this great game we all love just be pure?
  3. damn, didnt realize how bad jacque was last year.
  4. i'm a big proponent of adding nomar. i dont know if there would be interest on his end, however.
  5. .277 BA .345 OBP .423 SLG .768 OPS at Sacramento with 1 HR and 13 RBIs .298 BA .397 OBP .382 SLG .779 OPS at Iowa with 1 HR and 15 RBIs 2 home runs in the minor leagues for a corner outfielder.......... it's kinda amazing that he's still getting chances at this point. Probably because people aren't basing everything off of last year alone. Cause to do so would be really stupid. 28 HR's in 900 career at bats... still not good for a corner outfielder.

  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/02/rockies-acquire.html maybe there he can finally hit for some power?
  8. typically when you trade a guy who cant throw strikes in single A ball, you don't receive anything back that will help the big league club today.
  9. how on earth is it perplexing? he hasn't thrown a strike in how many months of trying?
  10. what a psycho
  11. And a WHIP of 4.58 anytime your whip is higher than your era, you're a complete failure.
  12. i would love to have nomar back. i cant think of a better option for the bench right now, given the current makeup of our roster.
  13. my guess is that they want a veteran to help mentor the young, still developing geo soto.
  14. i dont disagree with what youre saying, but here's the thing. well, two things. one, do you really believe that bako's handedness factored in? he's the backup catcher. a guy who will play in 1-2 games a week, if that. two, it's kinda tough to improve upon a 717 OPS from your backup catcher. i'd be curious to know if there were/are ANY backup catchers available that could top that this year.
  15. and blanco signed with a team that's going to give him a chance to play more. comparing bako to blanco is silly; he wasn't going to come back. How is it silly to compare a player signed to fill a position this year that was filled by a different player the year before? because it wasnt a matter of choosing blanco or bako?
  16. and blanco signed with a team that's going to give him a chance to play more. comparing bako to blanco is silly; he wasn't going to come back.
  17. blanco had 120 at bats last year, with a 717 OPS. through the same number of at bats last year, bako had a 774 OPS. bako isn't going to get 300 at bats this year, like he had last year.
  18. there are varying degrees of light hitting backup catchers. Bako is the worst of the worst. Blanco actually provided something with the bat. he's definitely not, but if it makes you feel better to say that then power to you.
  19. stupid hendry. he should've signed that .300/.380/.400 backup catcher. wait, what's that? they don't exist? every backup catcher sucks? that's why they're backups? gotcha. it's pretty simple, people. the backup catcher is going to be light hitting, whether it's bako, blanco or anyone else.
  20. The Boston Red Sox? David Ortiz. he reportedly was a part of the group that wanted Manny out really? never heard that. where did you read that?
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3870198 the cardinals are notoriously cheap, so i cant see this happening. but what if it's march 30th and manny still doesnt have a team? would he take a deep discount to play? i shudder at the thought of a cardinals lineup with manny/pujols 3/4.
  22. I don't think this impacts a Peavy trade in the slightest. agreed. how does rich hill have anything to do with a peavy deal?
  23. it's going to be pretty remarkable if the season starts with a manny, or a dunn still unsigned.
