  1. Hendry has no say in how much the Cubs spend. All he can do is spend what is made available. Kenney's quotes are probably about as close as you can get to how much the team is making available. what quotes?
  2. viewtopic.php?p=2085077#p2085077 (Levine) viewtopic.php?p=2041881#p2041881 (Miles) viewtopic.php?p=2042187#p2042187 (Wittenmeyer with words from Kenney) thanks, but none of those links provides anything more than speculation. oh come on. Things could have changed since those reports came out, but that's 3 guys whose sources have the same figure. Seems like a tad more than some guy at nsbb pulling a number out of thin air. you're missing the point. people in this thread are using the 140m term as if it's absolute. i'd just like to see something - anything - that says that. has hendry ever even said anything along the lines of "we'll probably wind up in the 140 range" or anything similar? I don't think I'm missing anything. If you expect Hendry to say that the payroll will be exactly $140m and nothing is going to change his mind, you're not going to get it. But what you're asking is pretty close to what Crane said in one or more of those linked articles. no, you are. people are arguing against the derosa trade because had the cubs have kept him, they still could've signed bradley and came in at 140m. not knowing what the cubs brass intends the payroll to be, the entire point is moot. IIRC, in the past hendry has been pretty forthcoming about what his budget is. i have yet to see anything concrete that says what that is this year.

  4. prior hasn't been good at baseball since 2005. it's 2009.

  6. can someone please link me to something that says the payroll will be 140m? multiple people are speaking as though that's an absolute, so it should be fairly easy to find something that says that.
  7. can't help but notice that you've got a lot of missouri hate in you. they're a pretty good team. there ranking might be a bit higher than how good they really are, but they've been winning a lot lately so i have no issue with them currently being in the top 10.
  8. For a young team, even beating a Griffin-less OU on the road is worth something, but you're right in that it doesn't tell us a whole lot about how good KU is. OU won't come to Lawrence. They only play the south teams once. youre right, i read espn's graphic wrong. oklahoma is going to missouri, not kansas.
  9. kansas played a nice game, but they played it against an oklahoma team without blake griffin. my point? this win is sorta meaningless. they're in a nice position though, with missouri and oklahoma going to lawrence.
  10. well there has to come a point for everyone when they continue to fail, time after time after time, where eventually they just call it quits. speaking of which, have you considered cubs.com or desipio i'm a member at desipio. i'm surprised youre not.
  11. got a rejection email earlier this afternoon
  12. well there has to come a point for everyone when they continue to fail, time after time after time, where eventually they just call it quits.
  13. Of course you are. what's that supposed to mean?
  14. college age students? strange way or wording that.
  15. i'm with tarver. prior is, and has been for awhile now, done. i respect his drive to continue to fight back but there has to come a point where he realizes that he just can't do it.
  16. Geez people on here bitch about everything
  17. i really, really hope that you wind up having a bunch of tickets that you can't sell for a profit.
  18. what?? a max of 2.1m for miles versus a max of 8m for hudson? miles sucks, but i'll take his deal over a recovering-from-wrist-injury-Hudson everyday. especially when you consider the lost draft pick, had we have signed hudson. thinking that the miles contract looks worse b/c of this deal is pretty foolish.
  19. junior has had one hell of a career. good to see him go home to finish it out.
  20. i hope southsideryan is right. i'll have about 30 minutes tops to get tickets before i have to leave for the rest of the morning/early afternoon. by the time i get back, most everything will be gone i'm sure.
  21. so was his back still hurt in winter ball? and is his back still sore now, is that why he still can't throw strikes? wah, wah, wah rich. you fell apart. stop making excuses.
  22. you think you'll get tickets below face value on the secondary market? or am i misreading your post?
  23. http://masnsports.com/2009/02/bullpen-sessions.html That makes me feel better about the trade. I was worried that he was just injured all last year and that he'd figure things out right away in Baltimore. As long as he doesn't completely blow up, we should be able to get the better PTBNL from Baltimore. Hill has been all but guaranteed a rotation spot because the well is so dry for them in the rotation in 2009 that they can afford to take a risk on him for a month or two even if he shows little in ST. is that speculation on your part or have you read that somewhere? cause i find it very, very hard to believe that they'd just put him in the rotation if he STILL can't throw strikes in spring training.
  24. surprise, surprise... rich hill still can't throw strikes. http://masnsports.com/2009/02/bullpen-sessions.html
  25. so who's the other middle infielder?
