  1. If nobody else gets things started, I'll take a crack after I get back home this weekend. im all for it. we'll wait for you to get the ball rolling. How is the draft order chosen? I hope Brian LaHairs still around by the time it gets to me. I'd be in.
  2. I saw that and looked up Hanley's stats for the year. His OPS is only .615, has he been hurt at all?
  3. Who comes up if Ramirez goes to the DL? Scales? Flaherty? Lake? Ridling?
  4. That's how he always runs. He's a lazy, unfocused, disinterested Latin player. Or that's at least how Kaplan and Stone tell me he plays.
  5. Campana looks like a [expletive] little leaguer.
  6. This has to be one of the worst years ever to have a top 3 pick.
  7. Seconded Thirded. Plus if Jackson is still doing well come middle of summer it will be easier to fit him into the OF. Even though I don't want his arbitration clock starting while still probably having to learn/adjust and the team going nowhere....
  8. Wouldn't Fernando Perez make more sense? He's already on the 40-man and he is speedy.
  9. I am watching the Cubs game on the computer and Cardinals game on TV. Since when has Albert played 3B with Berkman at 1B? I know they have had injuries there and poor performances. But I haven't seen him there since he first was coming up.
  10. Bautista hit 3 HR today. His line for the season is .368/.520/.868 for an OPS of 1.388  He has 16 HR and 35BB in 32 games. He has reached base in all but one game so far this year.
  11. Number of April MLB rainouts in the past decade 2011: 17 2010: 2 2009: 12 2008: 10 2007: 26 2006: 8 2005: 11 2004: 12 2003: 15 2002: 10 2001: 5 2000: 18 http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/post/foul-weather-plaguing-major-league-baseball/2011/05/12/AFljOP2G_blog.html I don't remember 2007 being THAT bad, but I feel that we've seen less sun this year, all throughout the league. Was 2007 really THAT bad ?? That's an average of 1.73 rainouts per team for the the month. Compared to this year, when we had 1.0 rainout. Was that the year where there were actually snow outs? and there were a few series that had to be played in other stadiums. Like I think it was Cleveland basically would have been off a week due to the weather there, so they relocated the series to Milwaukee.
  12. Nice to see Castro picking it up a bit. After his mini slump. What is the wind doing today? in or out?
  13. Cubs Lineup: Fukudome RF Barney 2B Castro SS Pena 1B Byrd CF Soriano LF DeWitt 3B Hill C Davis P
  14. Hopefully they get this in, doesn't look like rain is going to get in until about 8, but after that it's rain all night.
  15. Believe they are doing a double header today. They have the usual 3 p.m. CST game and then added a 6 p.m. CST game.
  16. Not exactly. The difference between what a clutch player is in those situations compared to what he is in non-clutch situations is too small to detect. Got it.
  17. What are Starling's numbers so far this year in HS? I know he is playing against very few, if any, next level players.. Callis has us taking Starling as of his updated draft on May 13th. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/mock-draft/2011/2611735.html
  18. Didn't The Book say that clutch hitters may exist, but the sample sizes are so small that it's impossible to determine who is clutch and what's just random variance. I think that's how they put it. Also, the difference generally wasn't big enough to really plan on as an advantage. So basically there are clutch situations, but the individual players who make up those clutch situations may or may not be clutch. They simply aren't in those positions enough to produce a large enough sample size to deduct anything from.
  19. Is this the first ever Saturday night game in Wrigley? If not, it has to be one of few.
  20. That can be a tricky injury, especially for a catcher. Hopefully he doesn't miss more than 4 games or so.
  21. I am predicting Z's first HR of the season in this one
  22. "Aramis Ramirez isn't paid to get on base, he's paid to drive in runs" could possibly be the dumbest [expletive] comment ever. Someone needs to hit Thom over the head with a blunt object.
  23. So what's the timetable on the rest of the Royals prospects coming to the majors?
