  1. except that didn't happen. they moved theriot to 2B. I guess I worded that poorly. They had no problem moving Theriot off his position for a young piece of the future because Theriot was playing like garbage, then eventually dumped him in part because Starlin was holding down the fort at SS. I wasn't trying to say the Cubs should just dump Byrd now and call up Jackson, but trying to say they shouldn't be afraid to do something similar with Jackson and Byrd like the did with Castro and Theriot last year. If middle/end of May comes and Byrd still isn't producing anything on offense they better not be scared to call Jackson up and start playing him in CF close to full time and make Byrd the 4/5 OF until they can trade him around the deadline.
  2. Ryan Theriot (.716) has a higher OPS than Marlon Byrd (.696) this season in two fewer ab's (90 v. 92). We had no problem shipping Theriot's ass out last season when Starlin was tearing it up in AA, I hope the Cubs aren't scared to do the same with B. Jackson and Byrd at some point this season.
  3. Without looking it up, I have to imagine the Cubs are easily at the bottom 1/3 of the league in HR and SLG.
  4. Cripes, Byrd is about as useful (and powerful) as Theriot at the plate right now.
  5. It would be nice if Marlon could remember how to hit the ball hard here.
  6. Maybe this has already been discussed, but where do the coaches fall in this? Is there a separate coaches union? or ae they considered part of the league/owners/team?
  7. Wasn't he fine at it in years past? The fact is, he's not a great one on one scorer. Never has been. He puts up crazy stats because he's ridiculously athletic, strong, and amazing at handling the ball. He gets plenty of points. But if you isolate him and ask him to score, he's just not that good. Too bad he has it in his head that he has to be the man at the end of the game. Actually, I like it. Because the Heat would be better if they would occasionally run a real play at the end of the game, or give it to DWade, who's way better at it. The other thing is, which I think has already been mentioned on here, is that Simmons was talking about this on his podcast somewhat recently. Lebron doesn't really have a go to move where he knows he can get a good look or you know if he gets a shot from a certain spot he will hit it a good majority of the time. As you were saying, his go to move is just to be bigger and stronger which clearly hasn't been working for him or the Heat this year.
  8. I would say if Wells and Cashner weren't already on the DL, Quade should consider skipping Dempster for a start or something. He's been turrible.
  9. Longoria's 6/17 would be great to replicate
  10. Jay Jackson very well might. By the time the next Russell/insta-loss spot comes up, it should be Jays throw day as well. Is Jay ready to go 5-6 innings and throw 85-95 pitches? Didn't he just leave extended ST to join Tenn.?
  11. Looks like it's an additional 5 years for $105m. Great signing for the Brewers, Braun is leaving/has left a good amount of money on the table by signing these two extensions, makes it a little easier to like the guy.... He likely will hold every major Brewers offensive record by the time he retires.
  12. But they can't read. How would they know what they're looking at? Audio Book with commentary from "Hawk" Harrelson, Steve Stone, and Marty Brennaman.
  13. I wonder if that means Byrd will be dropped in the order or if Colvin/Johnson will be getting the start over him? Also I just realized that Koyie Hill will be making a appearance today
  14. I really hope that Cashner is fully healthy if he is starting a program, and it's not just seeing if he can pitch with the pain/injury then deal with the ramifications later if he further injures himself.
  15. He hit two tonight that are likely HR with no wind, or even if the wind is blowing in not quite as hard.
  16. WOW Carlos. Excellent work so far tonight :good:
  17. Even though Starlin is on fire, not a fan of the 3-0 green light there.
  18. So do I. For being the 4th/5th guy out of the pen we could do worse.
