  1. Something around just Monty for Shark would intrigue me. But again I don’t get what they are doing all this just to sign Jay horsefeathering Bruce like who or what do they think they are? They aren’t a Bruce (he isn’t even good) away with weakening their staff, I get they can’t just keep spending and have to be cognizant of the LT but still. Just odd moves. Keep what they have and patch work the OF with some combo of Jay/Dyson/Gomez/Bautista/Gonzalez (salary dump Pence) and sign Walker or Frazier for 3B and try and make a go of it while keeping the rest of the pitching in place instead of signing Bruce.
  2. horsefeathers pitchers, man
  3. Trading a useful innings eater, at worst, to clear space to sign Jay Bruce is such a laughably bad move (not that I don’t believe they’d do that). They are trying to bandaid this thing so bad. They either really gotta go spend money and commit (like sign Martinez, Cain, Frazier or Walker and Reed) or really should just blow it up (trade Shark, Bumgarner, Belt, Span, Crawford, keep Posey since he’s a franchise icon). Blowing it up would easily be my decision if I was running things.
  4. My guess is Martinez or like Cain and 1 of Hosmer (move Belt to the OF) or Frazier
  5. Great addition for continuing to abuse the 10-day DL rules
  6. You don’t not sign Harper because “you maybe can’t re-sign Bryant” 3-4 years later. Spoiler alert, we’ll be able to sign Harper and keep Bryant if we want. If he leaves it won’t be because we can’t afford him.
  7. Yeah god forbid our lineup needs to be reduced to Harper, Bryant, Willson (through their late 20s ands early 30s) along with whatever we get for trading off Russell/Baez/Happ/Schwarber and a bunch of Tommy LaStellas and Jon Jays types in FA. We might only score 850 runs.
  8. Don’t think we’d be in on Moore, even for a salary dump?
  9. With options now available and mainstream trading platforms offering it I think this thing is gonna get shorted in to oblivion. Good for PTR to get in on the action and make some money.
  10. i'm blanking. what is BAM? It’s MLBs proprietary streaming and other technology. I believe this money comes from ESPN/Disney buying a stake in it. Or could be from licensing agreements they have for other companies/sports to use it.
  11. We just got a $50 million windfall that didn’t sound overly expected, have LT space this year and are printing money. I’m all for getting him.
  12. Of course in Mr. DoomBoner's virtual reality we lose all of our good players and Bryant is just okay. But yeah in my different versions of RTTS (always choose to be pitcher since you can get more seasons in) this happens to me too. Bryant sticks around and is really average, Harper never comes, Schwarber has been on the Phillies, Cardinals and some other team by like 2019, Rizzo is gone around 2020 and has been on the Orioles, Giants and some other team Russell and Javy stick around but Russell seems to turn in to a bench player and some create a player always takes over at SS, Almora usually sticks around too and ends up being okay. The rotation always ends up with some random middle of the road SP too like Jake Odorizzi, Porcello, Wacha, etc who's in his mid 30s but puts up ridiculous CY Young level seasons around 2022. Oh an we end up with like Logan Morrison or Matt Adams or Lucas Duda type or rookie create a player at 1B and they are always MVP 40 dong 3/4 hitter by 2020 as well.
  13. We are going to end up with Harper unless some team comes in and offers some ridiculous offer like 12/500+. But in the case we don't get him yeah Machado should definitely be a target, then trade 1 of Russell or Javy for some pitching (maybe even try and attach Zobrist and the last year of his contract in that deal to save some money). I would agree too that in the event we miss out try and offer Bryant an extension with the aav that Machado/Harper get.
  14. Phillies could be an interesting team this year if their pitching comes along. No threat to win the divisions unless the Nats have crazy injuries but with the Braves, Marlins and Mets all sucking and getting ~50 games against those 3 I could see them in contention for a WC spot.
  15. I wonder if he'd be in a Machado trade?
  16. Cozart to the Angels for 3/38. Pretty good deal. They should have some spectacular defense this year.
  17. Good for Hector, I hope he regains his former success and glad he went to an AL team in case he does
  18. [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Harper is the type of player you make exceptions for. He’s that special level of talent/age that rarely hits FA, so you sign him and deal with the ramifications later.
  20. I for one am shocked the early extension talks went nowhere
  21. The 2018 salary wouldn't be that bad, tbh. I'm pretty sure that's under the luxury tax (but without room for midseason moves). It's the 2019 re-signing Machado and also adding Harper that just can't happen unless Heyward opts out and Zobrist retires. I’m all for it regardless, let’s make it rain
  22. You donating the NSBB domain squatting profits to the Ricketts to make such moves possible, Tim?
  23. Maybe if we give Angelos and super secret pinky swear that we won’t trade Machado to the Yankees we could get him for LaStella
