  1. Schwarber was a lot better after the demotion and I think we all underestimed (and were jaded by the WS performance) how the lost year of 2016 would affect him and he really should’ve started 2017 in AAA. The guy only played in 71 MLB games (~280 PAs) then missed an entire year at age 23 and was just throw right back in to MLB after not playing for a whole year. That was kinda crazy/stupid when you think about it. Sure, and as I said, I'm willing to give it a try. I'm just not sure his OBP will merit leading off He had a .378 wOBA after the demotion
  2. I'd be checking into what it would cost to acquire Gausman. I'm a believer that he finally turned the corner mid-year last year. https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/kevin-gausmans-very-bad-but-actually-very-good-season/ Happ, Monty and Alzolay for Gausman and Britton?

  4. Yup and Almora at leadoff vs LHP. Wouldn’t mind pitcher batting 8th in Schwarber leadoff games either and Russell or Zobrist hitting 9th.
  5. Patrick Corbin is apparently available, depending on cost (if it's more of a salary dump, since they are rumored to want to cut, he made $4 mil in arbitration last year) he would be someone I'd have interest in to try and turn in to a Andrew Miller bullpen type. He's a perfectly fine back of the rotation guy too but there could be some elite upside in him as a bullpen option. 92.5 MPH avg on the FB last year (figure out of the pen that gets to 94-96) and he had the 9th best wSL, 18th best wSL/C of all SP last year. So again with a move to the bullpen that already elite pitch may be more elite. Just a thought.
  6. Makes sense, a lot of it could be we don't want to be wasting time dealing with a stupid horsefeathers front office that doesn't know what they are doing. Also, "future plans." [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. Archer is really good but I wouldn’t want to pay the price for him I think (unless he somehow only costs like Happ and Monty from the major league roster, which I doubt..... I'm guessing we are talking two of the Baez/Happ/Schwarber/Almora/Russell group and I wouldn't include 2 of those guys or Russell at all in any shape of the trade and I get asking for any 2 of those guys may be fair but I just don't like the residual affect on the roster/position player depth). He’s had some injury/velo dip concerns in his career, he can only go through a lineup twice (which I get with most SP that’s all you can really project but you’re paying a acquisition cost for him to be more than that) and he really only has 2 pitchers (FB/Slider) and I worry what happens if the slider loses some bite and/or his velo dips a bit in the FB. 8. I posted a while ago that I thought Russell should be the 2nd name on the list of tradeable assets (behind Schwarber) simply because we have in-house replacements for both of them without missing a beat. Schwarber obviously belongs in the A.L., while Russell would certainly be a centerpiece in a major deal. Baez played flawlessly while sliding back to SS when Russell was out for an extended period and the Cubs went on a roll. Also the Cubs won 103 games during the season while Scwarber was injured. I'm not saying they aren't valuable or have a high potential, it's just that they can be easily replaced while bringing back a TOR starter. I think a lot of people, not just on here but Cubs fans in general, don't get or understand how much better of a defensive shortstop Russell is than Baez on top of having superior offensive abilities/projection.
  9. Sounds like it's likely Grichuck could be out of St. Louis too, with those 2 out of the division our projected win total should go up by about 5 wins.
  10. Cobb? Yeah, MLBN guys asked him about him and he talked about how much he loved him, great teammate, great competitor, works hard, knows how to pitch and is smart and Hickey feels the same way.
  11. Maddon had some interviews today, some interesting stuff/tidbits [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] He also gushed about Cobb and Schwarber being in best shape of his life. Wouldn’t commit on closer/Morrow’s role listed a lot of the under the radar things about Chatwood to love we all liked (GB%, velo, home/road splits, etc).
  12. That’s the guy UMFan loves to hate follow, right?
  13. he's not some case of unrealized potential, a down injury-plagued 2017 aside (you think this is the time to sell high??). he had accrued damn near 7 fWAR before his 23rd birthday. he's an elite defensive SS who walks and has power, and he's not even 24 yet. I dont care what his WAR is if hes an abuser, I dont want to root for him. Trade him for Archer if he so valuable. I’m not going to argue he’s a scumbag, he likely is for what he did with the cheating alone. But the abuse stuff never had charges pressed or MLB suspension, it was all an allegation from a 3rd party. I’m willing to give the benefit of doubt there since nothing ever came of it.
  14. Yeah, no. This is just wrong
  15. Fairly confident that’s a fake TMZ account..... this is their real sports account [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. No thank you
  17. Hendricks also lives in the LA area, so it might have just been a proximity thing. Hendricks is in Chicago this winter, he works out at my gym. He's actually a really nice guy. You misspelled library

  19. I wouldn't even give up Caratini for him. He’s probably the most I’d be willing to give up but yeah don’t overly care to get Harvey anyways. They can have like Bote and Zas and be happy with it or go horsefeathers off.
  20. If he costs something real, which I expect they will think he’s worth more than he is, absolutely no way. But if all he costs is like Caritini, sure fine.

  22. “Plans we have” Aka Bryce
  23. Cardinals come to realization they are a 2nd class organization
  24. He had to have TJS or some sort of surgery and I think he’s going to be out for the entire year. Hard pass for me, if we are going to do the 2 year sign and stash thing for a guy Pineda would be my target since it’s possible he’s a rotation option 2nd half this coming year and certainly ready for a rotation spot come 2019.
