  1. Is it a HIPPA violation if he just tells him where he’s signing and doesn’t say/share anything about Yu medically? I mean at best it’s still a morally/ethically stupid thing to do as the doctor and likely will cost him being used in the future by the Cubs, if true.
  2. Kaplan really never breaks anything and doesn’t seem to have any real great sources though, right?
  3. They broke Quintana to the Cubs as well (or at least did it in tandem with wetbutt). That’s right. Forgot about that. I’m excited.
  4. Excellent, if true. They’ve broken stuff before, not this major of a move but they have sources
  5. lol what other stuff "Well we can't offer Addison Russell but you could have [squints at our top 30] Bobson Dugnutt?" Happ, Monty, Ademan and Alzolay should’ve been more than enough for him and Britton (before the injury).
  6. The inclusion of Russell isn't about trading him, but about trading him for Machado. Think he's a bad person, or his injuries are going to rob his potential, or the bat will never come around? Fine. But trading him for one year of another shortstop(especially one who gets much of their value from defense and has 52 career MLB games at SS) doesn't make much sense to me. Use other stuff to get Machado and then use Russell to get the pitcher those other guys couldn't bring. If you can't get Machado without Russell, then just move on, you still have Baez if you're desperate to trade Russell. I'd love to know how our FO values Addy, Javy, Schwarber, Happ, and Almora versus how other teams do. I'd literally have them in the order I just listed them, from a value standpoint. But, there's not a single possibility of orders that'd actually surprise me either. Plus, service time starts becoming a factor in value at this stage too, now that some of these guys only have 4 years of control at this point. While most any order wouldn’t “shock” me I think just reading the tea leaves of what they say I think they pretty clearly have Russell and Schwarber at the top in a tier of their own, Javy is in the next tier by himself and then Almora and Happ in the last tier in some order. And that’s probably how I’d rank them too.
  7. Oh, nerd. I thought we were talking a PED bust or something
  8. I have no idea what any of this means
  9. Yeah that’s crazy talk. No way all 3 of those guys were offered in the same trade, highly doubt Russell was a real piece offered.
  10. Yup: God damn it I don’t know if I should love or hate that. Someone needs to get a go fund me going for a “comedians in cars getting coffee” type deal where Marlins Man and Jeets drive around south beach in that thing
  11. What in the hell is the Marlins-Mobile? I hope that’s just what Marlins Man calls his car.
  12. I read it and just don’t agree. I think they’d get solid prospects for all their logical guys to trade. I think he undersells some of the value of them along with money owed/needed to be paid. They’d get a Sale type trade for Bumgarner, they’d get top 25-50 MLB prospects for all of Crawford, Belt, Samardzija and Cueto and wouldn’t have to pay much of the salaries outside of Cueto. Posey would bring back a good haul too but I could see keeping him as franchise icon. Trading those guys + the bottoming out due to having a bad roster and adding high picks for a few years and doing Feldman/Hammel type 1 year and flip deals would have them with a top system very fast. did you see what the marlins got for Stanton? teams aren’t paying top prospects for names when those names have fair (or overpriced) contracts attached. None of their guys, outside of maybe Cueto, have a Stanton level commitment/downside. They could get very a good prospect(s) for all of them, especially if some of the contracts are paid for. Arroyo was the 65th overall prospect in MLB by Law and 55th by Sickels, last year and he just got traded for Longoria who has a worst contract than any of them and value wise is no better. They can easily get prospects inside the top 50 for their guys given their contracts aren't as bad.
  13. I voted 4 and this was my thinking/logic as well. Bryant/Rizzo/Schwarber are my locks then one of those other guys get there. I feel pretty confident saying we should have 7, 20-25+ HR guys with all of the guys listed above.
  14. If you read the piece you'll see why. That title really doesn't mesh with the article I read it and just don’t agree. I think they’d get solid prospects for all their logical guys to trade. 15. I don't get why they just don't blow it up [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. How long until Boras threatens to sue the league for collusion with nearly every team dumping salary/not wanting to pay guys this year to save for next year?
  17. Longoria getting 15M AAV probably wasn't going to sink the Cardinals at any point in the future. If anything the net positive is that taking on his money wouldn't lower the cost of going after someone like Archer. The Cardinals can trade for all the Longorias and Colomes and sign all the Addison Reeds and Dexter Fowlers they want. It's the Archer/Donaldson/Machado tier of players they truly need to be a persistent threat to the division. Isn’t the theory that a team of 25 guys at 2 WAR beats a team with 5 ten WAR guys and 20 replacement level players? I have no idea what I’m talking about, but I feel like I read that recently. I think you'd rather have (or at least I would) 5 Kris Bryant's, Trout's, Harper's, Lindor's, Scherzer's etc. with a dozen Tommy LaStellas/Jon Jays than a dozen of Jed Gyorko's
  18. VB's sign Chacin, he would've been a guy I had interest in, in a swingman role if Monty got traded. Their rotation is going to likely include him and Gallardo to start the year.

Especially with him playing the position Donaldson/Machado play who they are both after now/in offseason. Anyways, whatever. Don’t see what the Giants are trying too do either. They still don’t have an OF and can’t really spend much money.
  20. I really wanted the Cardinals to be stuck with that contract
