    I’ve wondered this same thing. I like the upside of Chatwood over Cobb though, especially with him maybe, likely not having his best pitch. Plus with Darvish now solidifying the top end of the rotation give me the guy with the highest upside at the back end of the rotation who still should have an okay floor. Chatwood did have similar offers to ours, apparently, so I think the market valued him about what we got him at. Can also be glad Cobb turned down our 3/45 offer or whatever early on and wanted 20 aav that led us to being able to wait out the market and get Darvish. That would’ve been a disaster getting both those guys locked up early (albeit at good value deals) then missing out on the market dropping to be able to get Darvish.

    With how many pitchers are still available I’m not surprised Odorizzi didn’t go for a ton, especially the year he is coming off of and costing $6 million this year and probably 9-10 next year. That being said I’m surprised they decided to sell low unless they think he’s going to stay replacement level or maybe think an injury is coming or something along those lines. Maybe they also had this SS they got ranked a lot higher internally than the prospect publications

    Signing some combination of Lomo/Lind/Carter/Bautista for a 1B platoon probably gets you as much, if not more, in season value for 1/10 the overall price and gives you much more flexibility. This is dumb anyway you look at it. Also saw this guy on twitter last night and thought these were good points..

    This is their rebuild version of signing Pujols/Fielder instead of trading for a Rizzo and/or waiting out their prospect development to spend the FA money. So dumb. Lots of money for grit and leadership

    Feel like 1 of Jake/Lynn/Cobb is going to have to settle for a 1 year deal (or at least in their best long term interest) and 1 is gonna have a hard team beating Chatwood in guaranteed money.

    I know the big money ones mostly are, Hosmer, Martinez and Arrieta are for sure. Idk about Moustakas, Cobb or Lynn.

    My bookie/site doesn’t have O/U yet but based on what I see I like Brewers (gonna wait on them until they add a SP because it will probably get bet up), Angels, Dodgers, Rockies, Orioles, Rangers, Jays, and Cardinals (one of them or Brewers is going under and a decent chance for both) unders then like Reds, Giants, and Nats overs. Also I doubt this bet is out there but if I could get like +300 odds I’d bet on the Reds finishing above at least one of the Brewers or Cardinals

    Some good stuff on the Brewer board today.... The bullpen sucks, I guess, even though we have like 6 guys who project for a ERA- of under 80. And replaced Davis with a guy who’s better outside of the stupid save stat (but if you’re in to that Cishek has about 3x more career saves than the entire Brewers pitching staff) and we have probably 3 guys at least with better stuff than Davis. Also Chatwood isn’t an upgrade over Lackey and Darvish isn’t an upgrade over Arrieta despite both being better than those guys last year and projecting to be a lot better than them this year. Also hard to make up for those quality abs from Jon horsefeathering Jay and all that production from Miggy/Rivera/Caritini as a rookie for most of the year before Avila. We also lack depth despite having about half the position players being able to play 2-4+ spots. Also health is important. We’re fucked.

    Apparently a bunch of the Mets pitchers and other players went shark fishing with Don Jr in the last few days (sounds like he was just there and it wasn’t planned for him to be there with them but that could be their spin). It’s a whatever, nothing story to me but given what is currently going on around him I’m surprised their PR people didn’t squash that if it was planned. Even for the intermediate time their pitchers are healthy they are still screwing up.

    I wonder if at this point some guys are sitting out, out of principle to prove a point for another week or so even if they have decent offers (like JD and his 5/125 or whatever and Hosmer and his 6/120 or whatever). i still can’t believe that not only are there two teams offering eric horsefeathering hosmer $140 million deals, he’s also not falling all over himself to accept one of them before both GMs sober up. Yeah it’s crazy he hasn’t taken one of those offers yet, assuming they are true (which it seems to be as nobody has said he doesn’t have them or the reported figures aren’t true from KC/SD).

    Just the tidbits about curveballs from Law and it seeming like the FO likes something about them..... Carter Stewart and Tim Cate would seem to be targets for us

    The BIG should only get one team in the tournament, they horsefeathering suck. Also Purdue is going out in round 1 or 2.
