  1. Well that entirely misses the point I still don’t really get what the entire point is other than to make a game that’s inherently slow and standing aroundish slight less slow and standing aroundish but the final product with these changes still ends up being a slow and standing aroundish game.
  2. They may have been but overall they don’t seem to be a problem nor will it be a huge time saver. We’re talking 5-10 min a game maybe? Plus it’s the postseason/WS I’m willing to let it slide that guys want to be extra sure to be on the same page, calmed down, etc.
  3. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/chicago-cubs-willson-contreras-jon-lester-joe-maddon/ Makes me even more firm in my stance against this stupid rule with that clown taking the other side
  4. I’d rather just have the game end in a tie after the 12th inning, or whatever inning, than implementing any of these silly rules
  5. That High Heat guy is still sticking to his guns that Cobb will be a Brewer and thinks it’s 80% chance it’s by Monday (whatever that means). He also makes it sound like other than a trade or release of like Aguilar or some other ancillary piece they are pretty much done until the deadline. If that’s the case, congrats on your 77-83 wins.

  7. Are any of the regulars expected to play Friday? Who’s starting/scheduled to pitch?
  8. Don't care what the trade chart says, there's 0 way I'm willing to go from 8 to the 20s and not get a 2nd first round pick. Yeah I wouldn’t do a deal with them for 8 without getting both picks in the 20s. Maybe something like 8 and the 2 4ths for both 20 picks and the third?

  10. What rule is dumb? That they test for anything at all? Or for some particular thing(s) that are on the banned list and perhaps shouldn't be? I don’t think they should test for weed. But yes the really dumb rule is there’s a double standard with minor and major league testing. If he was on the Astros 25-man he wouldn’t have been tested and thus not suspended. Like I said the players carry blame too for breaking a known rule, no matter how dumb it is.
  11. It’s a really dumb rule and stupid they test minor leaguers and not major leaguers but it’s also dumb guys keep breaking it if they know the rules don’t do it.
  12. Willy is the man, he’s definitely going to kicked out of a game Joe West is umping. I think the mound visit limit is a really dumb idea. [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. Thought that was one of the places that made most sense for him. Though it’s Heyman and maybe he’s just getting his Boras stooge on [tweet] [/tweet]
  14. Not that I think they are a real threat for Bryce, however they are a big market with wild card ownership, but where does this put the Sox in regards to the LT for not only this year but also next year? They have to be pushing close this year and have to be nearly at it going in to next offseason with the guys they have under long term contract + arbitration raises.
  15. I know we can assume guilt by association (with his dad and brothers) but has Tom ever been connected with conservative billionaire horsefeathers? I don’t ever recall seeing his political leanings or donations in the media/public. The sister (Laura? Or Sarah?) is on the opposite side of the political spectrum of the brothers and dad if I’m not mistaken.
  16. oh that's the other thing...having to endure all the meatballs when good pitchers get smacked around That’s always great when like Scherzer or someone has like a 10 era because he gave up 5 runs in his first 6 innings over 2-3 starts and people start freaking out. Even though it’s usually entirely meaningless unless the velo is way down and doesn’t trend up as ST moves on.
  17. Yeah it pretty much turns from me being excited about finally having baseball back to just watching and hoping nobody gets hurt and pitchers aren’t throwing 5 MPH slower for a month of meaningless baseball.
  18. He carries a 1.17 OPS in 400 oppo batted balls. I bet he's salivating at that 300 ft RF. Down the line, sure but CF and RCF are deep.
  19. I think it’s a fine deal for both sides. I do wonder how his power will play in Fenway though as I believe a lot of his power is to CF and Right-Center and those are the deepest parts of Fenway (and deeper in general compared to other fields iirc).
  20. That special time of year where MLB will spend the next few weeks promoting and marketing Tebow more than they will the dozens of their young stars actually in MLB over the course of the year.
  21. it was used a bunch last year until about july https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/2017-batting-orders.shtml Idk why I had no recollection of this, but I guess if Schwarber is the leadoff plan again I’d guess we will see it again.
  22. Damn, I would’ve loved him for this deal. Start LaStella in AAA and Dyson starts most games against RHP and is a late inning defensive specialist in others. [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. Matt Carpenter is already missing some ST time with back tightness, he seems to be on the verge of falling apart. He missed time the last two years with back, oblique and shoulder issues (I believe he had a cortisone shot last year in his shoulder and he really can't throw much anymore). Between age (Carpenter, Wainwright, Yadi, and Fowler) and regression (Pham, Ozuna, DeJong) they could be in for a long year. And also LOL at them officially putting Fowler and his bum ass arm in RF this year.
  24. I know generally speaking batting order doesn't overly matter... but if we are going to assume Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo top 3 most of the time vs RHP do you guys think the pitcher batting 8th will get any thought to get that "extra leadoff guy" in front of those 3? We completely went away from it since 2016 or even 15, I forget, so maybe we found that there's no benefit or even a deterrent to doing it. Just something I've kinda been think about. Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo/Willy/Zobrist/Russell/Heyward/P/Happ (or flip Russell and Happ) vs RHP is something that conceptually makes some sense to me.
  25. I never really thought they’d trade anyone when it came down to it for pitching but I thought we’d just end up with 2 of Cobb/Chatwood/Garcia/Hellickson/etc. types and spend on the bullpen pieces like we did without knowing who’d that money would end up with. But yeah I still can’t believe we got Yu and Theo basically had the best offseason possible short of bringing Avila back (which isn’t a big loss of not doing) or a Yelich trade.
