  1. Zobrist making his first appearance today, fwiw. Also happy YU day! Morrow is also scheduled to pitch.
  2. The D'backs are bringing back bullpen carts this year, truly glorious news http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/22665199/arizona-diamondbacks-use-golf-cart-bring-relief-pitchers-2018
  3. Hendricks is trying out a new grip/version/type of curveball and the results sound promising.
  4. The Royals offered Neil Walker a minor league deal and he turned it down. Kinda crazy he can’t even get a major league deal. He could/should be a starting second baseman, third baseman or first baseman for a major league team. I know they have LT concerns but he’d be a perfect guy for the Yankees, Imo. They could let the young IFs take more time in the minors or a protected/bench role if needed, he’d provide a good OBP boost from leadoff or 8/9 in the order before Stanton/Judge, and adds depth in event of Bird, Didi, Torres, Andujar injury or regression/sucakge
  5. I get what you’re saying but I’m starting to think this years class isn’t all that great either. Doesn’t mean it isn’t better than next year but I’m starting to think even in the lotto a lot of these guys are just rotation pieces at best. I’m not seeing too many perennial all-stars, best or second best players on a championship team, etc other than maybe the guy from Europe. I agree that this draft class might not have that many perennial all-stars either or the best/second best player on a championship team. I feel like that's even more of a reason to move up in this draft class to try to maximize your chances of grabbing that special player. I think there are 4-5 players that can be impact players if they reached their 90% highest projections/ceiling, but probably most of them end up being just good players/role players. I definitely think this year's class is WAY better than the 2019 draft class. I'm not impressed at all by the prospects in that draft class like R.J. Barrett and Z. Williamson. It also lacks depth as well and not just high-level players at the top of the draft. Good points and I agree mostly, but unless the Bulls can trade up to 1-2 to get Ayton or the Euro guy I don't know if there's going to be much difference between the 3rd pick and 7th or 9th pick (or wherever they pick) that it's worth giving up additional assets.
  6. http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/22400743/2019-nba-mock-draft-rj-barrett-zion-williamson-more-rising-prospects I get what you’re saying but I’m starting to think this years class isn’t all that great either. 7. Seems like an unnecessary move to me but it really isn't much money and they save some money if he turns out to be like the SS version of Todd Fazier. Most likely though when regression hits him the contract is going to keep Matheny running him out there at SS over a better option.
  8. I’m hoping between him and Maples we have someone by mid-season who can at least be a Strop level RP for a few years.
  9. Not very efficient, but overall okay line for Lester. 2.2IP 3H 1ER 2BB 3K 1HR on 53 pitches
  10. Didn't the JD deal push them just a tad under the 2nd level? This would be hilarious. Spend over 300m for a 90 win team.I believe it did so Jake for $90-100 would cost like $150+ with penalties. But their pitching could end up keeping them from much more than 88-92 wins and certainly is a flaw in the playoffs.
  11. Just give up, Mets
  12. I mean that’s fair. But he was a bum last time he was in MLB (6+ era his last season here) and he’s been an absolute bum in his 2 starts since being back. I saw his first start and ST or not his stuff looked quite average and the results so far show it. He’s gone 4.2IP 13H 10ER 1BB 2K 2HR on 106 pitches so far.
  13. Remember when we thought signing this Mikolas bum and Cobb would’ve been a perfectly fine offseason for SP additions?
  14. Babe Freeman 3-3 with a 2B and RBI
  15. Carl with a scoreless inning 1H 0K 0BB. Good to see no walks.
  16. This doesn't bother me so much. I see alot of parallels between Schwarber's offseason and what Conforto did to his body going into 2017, Conforto still ended up with a nearly 26% K rate. Oh I agree. Just was more of an observation. But the high 20s k-rate will suppress his value as an elite, elite hitter unless he BABIPs his way to a high BA. But I’m fine with a 25-29% k-rate and 12%+ BB rate and 30-40 dongs.
  17. Good pitching by guys who matter today, Chatwood 2IP 0H 0R 1BB 1K (2 GO, 2 line outs, and a fly out), Wilson 1IP 1H 0R 0BB 1K, Monty 1IP 0H 0R 1BB 1K Bryant, Rizzo, and Schwarber all 1-2 with a hit (double for Bryant) and 1 K each for Rizzo and Schwarber and looks like they've been taken out. Schwarber seems to be striking out a lot.
  18. Box score says he went 3IP 6H 4ER 0BB 0K 1HR. This guy might be a bum. Hopefully they panic and cave to over pay one of the FA starters left.
  19. Pomeranz left his start today with the dreaded “forearm tightness.” If it’s bad I wonder if the Red Sox enter the Arrieta/Cobb market seeing as they already are over the LT and going for it and their rotation outside of Sale has questions.
  20. if they had a QB. Take one at 4 or sign one of the FAs. Don’t lose out on Barkley. I also think all the QBs in this draft kinda suck or their upside isn’t all that great for using the #1 pick on.
  21. He absolutely should be the #1 pick by the Browns
  22. [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. Bryant back in the lineup today, it was noted that Bryce had surgery the other day to remove an ingrown toenail so maybe Kris just took time off to be with his friend during a trying time.
  24. A: Giancarlo Stanton B: Nolan Arenado, Mike Trout C: Bryce Harper, Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa D: Alex Bregman, Kole Calhoun, Yoenis Cespedes, Addison Russell, Christian Yelich
