  1. He has stayed healthy enough to post bWARs of 7.3, 5.5, and 5.1 the last three years. If he actually can stay healthy for a full season he is a 7 win player. That is a no-brainer for a guy locked up through 2023, and ~ $10 M per is not expensive in LT regards. Happ and Almora would have to take huge steps forward to out value Kiermaier. fWAR isn’t as high on him, and he’s a career .260/.310/.430 hitter. He doesn’t walk at a crazy rate and Ks about mid 20%, he doesn’t really hit for power, he needs to play the horsefeathers out of defense to carry a lot of his value. His OPS vs LHP is also in the mid .600s and WRC+ in the 80s (so he’s a platoon guy offensively) and against RHP where he’s “good” he’s only at .780 and 116 WRC+. I feel pretty confident Happ/Almora out perform that offensively this year when used to platoon advantages. For the likely acquisition cost and dependence on defense for value and doing nothing else well I don’t really care for him. Also even at only ~$10 million that pushes us awfully close to the LT this year and at the least would/could affect any in season additions. That alone isn’t worth it for me.
  2. And that’s why you don’t draft pitcher high in the first round
  3. Yeah it sounds like he has what Tanaka has or Garrett Richards had and tried to treat before his arm blew out.
  4. 1 scoreless inning for Chatwood, 1H no SO or BB. Then Duensing with quite the incredible 2nd inning, 1IP 4H 4R 4ER 3SO 0BB 2HR
  5. Didn't Caritini hit some minor league pitcher in the head last year or the year before with a comebacker and he had to have emergency surgery or something?
  6. It would probably make even more sense and help speed up the process if the catcher and pitcher could have the ear piece. That way they are both hearing what the coach(es) are saying, they could then have nonverbal cues between them to make sure they are on the same page for whatever was said and the coach could say alright let's switch up to calling pitches with this sign sequence or let's go breaking ball heavy to this guy, etc.
  7. Yeah I’m watching too, his fastball looks awful straight and none of his breaking stuff looks like anything special
  8. Happ oppo DONG off Bumgarner to start the game
  9. Eh, I need to watch it before I say the guy is awful. Might have been trying to work on some pitches or isn't up to full speed yet. I hope he sucks and the Cubs torch him the first chance we get. Yeah it’s ST and his first start so stats are mostly meaningless but that’s a rough debut for a guy who sucked last time he was in MLB and hasn’t pitched in MLB in years.
  10. That Mikolas dude made his debut for the Cardinals today...... 1.2IP 7H 6R 6ER 1BB 2SO 1HR
  11. Posted in ST thread also but fwiw, Chatwood, Lester, Hendricks, Yu, and Q is the rotation order when the big boys start, starting this Monday. FWIW.

  13. Hopefully it's whatever Russ had with his meniscus a few years back
  14. Rizzo and Willy with DONGS, KB is 1-1 for a single and a walk, Javy is 1-2 with a triple and Russell is 1-2 with a single. Think they are all out or about to be taken out for the day, good work fellas
  15. They could’ve been nice and just waited until sweet 16 weekend. He had nothing to do after that

  17. Nah. Boston is stacked and still is armed with enough to go grab Kawhi or AD, or anyone else they want. It'd take Lebron going to Philly, to put their future in the same boat as Boston's. Yeah plus throw in health factor/risk with Philly's guys and Boston having the best non-Pop and maybe Kerr coach in the league I don't think it's all that close.
  18. We’re winning 120 games this year
  19. I’m not a big fan. He’s only stayed healthy once and is expensive in LT regards. If the defensive metrics don’t go crazy I wouldn’t be surprised if Almora/Happ platoon out WARs him this year.
  20. Good point and that’s a major concern. Seems to be a likely reason he can’t consistently hit balls hard/for power. That ankle roll is probably sapping a lot of his power/balance
  21. Looks the same to me +/- maybe a little more lift/higher finish. Maybe when you slow video down of every guys swing maybe they all mostly have that load back with their hands at the start of their swing like the video shows but that seems problematic. [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. I believed it as soon as NoCode showed up
  23. Lol that bozo HighHeat just said the Brewers FO become aware of him and to protect his source he’s deleting his twitter account. This is after saying Cobb signing was down to 20% and that Brewers fans should be prepared to be disappointed with signings (guessing he meant guys going elsewhere) in the next 24 hours.
