  1. He may have ranged to far, he clearly made the out however going for it. But in that situation, being a fielder with one out left before a perfect game you are probably going to try and make the extra effort to make a play to get the out. Also would there be as much of an outrage had it been the other way around? Meaning the runner was safe but Joyce called him out? I don't think so, but what do you guys think?
  2. Weiters, Bruce, and Castro over Mauer, Braun/Heyward, and Hanley? Really?
  3. It probably won't completely derail but it really knocks his chances of being a successful starter next season since he can't log 120+ innings next year. I don't completely agree with the move but it's not out of the question for him to get into the 120IP range this year is it? He has 57IP logged in the minors so far this year, if he stays up in the whole bullpen all season he will probably get another 30-40 more. Plus if we are out of it at the end of the year I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a few starts. He could always be sent to AZ fall league or winter leagues to continue to log innings/build up stamina. In the grand scheme of things I don't think this messes him up as a starter a year or more down the road when the time comes a spot opens in the rotation for him/he forces his way in.
  4. Why the [expletive] did they start this game? It's pouring out there.
  5. Well at least they are making it easy on us to not follow the rest of the day instead of taking 3HR of dragging it out and losing. [expletive] it, it's too nice out to be inside anyways, I am going golfing.
  6. Adam Wainwright Francisco Liriano Johan Santana Pedro Martinez Carlos Zambrano David Price I dont think it really is that bad of a career move to bring a young pitcher up out of the bullpen, especially if there is a huge need for the MLB team. Theres a couple guys like Marmol and Papelbon who ended up good as relievers and ended up staying relievers as well. I guess we will never know how their careers would have panned out as starters. Hughes and Joba in NY are kind of back and forth on starting/relieving right now as well and itll be interesting where there careers end up. I would not mind at all if Jay Jackson and Andrew Cashner were brought up get Major League experience and solidify this bullpen for the remainder of the year. Theres no doubt in my mind both could be good to very good in short inning spurts in the MLB right now, and with the way Marshall/Marmol are pitching if Cashner/Jackson pitch well that could improve our team immensely. A few to add to the list: Phil Hughes (started as SP then to BP then back to SP) Clay Buchholz (has been moved between pen and bullpen with Bard being in a similar spot) Neftali Feliz (provides a good precedent to Cashner, top arm in the minors, major league needs him in the bullpen so use him there with the ultimate goal that he will end up a starter in the next 1-2 years)
  7. Holy Hell Marmol continues to put together one of the most dominating seasons by a relief pitcher/closer ever. With those 3K'S how much does his K/9 increase?
  8. People would start thinking that the Boston sports teams really did sell their soul to the devil to have the success they did in the 2000's. -The Patriots do not look the same as previous years, and lost a home playoff game in the first round. Tom Brady didn't look the same as pre-injury -The Bruins blew a 3-0 series lead for only the 4th time in North American sports history -The Celtics (hypothetically in this scenario) also blew a 3-0 series lead for 5th time in NA sports history. It's too bad the Red Sox got out of their early season funk or my theory would tie together. I still don't see the Red Sox making the playoffs this year. I don't see them finishing any better than 3rd in that division and maybe 4th behind the Jays. They aren't a bad team, just stuck in an incredibly tough division, but they aren't as good as years past.
  9. I believe so, I wouldn't be surprised if he got the game off tomorrow.
  10. Gotta put up a crooked number this inning
  11. Wouldn't mind Castro getting a day off here soon, and holy [expletive] is Manny a horrible OF.
  12. So Lou gave Lee advice on his swing and he listened? I thought Lee was "his own hitting coach?"
  13. I agree with all this, we are facing a ton of lefties right now so Fukudome needs to start every game against RHP, Sorianohas been very good, and Byrd has also been good but he makes the most sense to get a game off if Colvin is to get a start. All that being said Lou will probably give Colvin the start tonight for Soriano and bat him 4th or 5th.
  14. I think they say usually no more than 25-35 inning increases per year.
  15. Golden Sombrero for Ramirez http://rrrt.mlblogs.com/golden%20sombrero.jpg
  16. Next 11 games are against PHI, TEX, LAD, and STL could get ugly, could be start of us reestablishing ourselves as a somewhat decent team. Win schmucks!
  17. We may have witnessed Miguel Olivo's first and last ever head first slide.
  18. Prediction: IF we lose this game. Caridad down, J. Jackson up.
  19. Yeah that's right, we won the last game of the 06 season against them, we swept them in 07 (the series where the fan attacked Howry after he blew a 5 run lead in the 9th), swept them in a 4 game series in 08, split a 2 game series in 09 (the first 2 home games of the year), and won the first yesterday There was also that game in 08' when the wind was blowing out (Friday day game I believe) at like 30MPH and we came back from way down in the 8-9th innings. I think Corpas gave up a lot of the runs. I remember DeRosa hit a HR that likely would have maybe made it 30-40ft short of the wall in left-center if it had been just about any other day.
