  1. I can't believe he admitted that
  2. huh? 2004 when he was coming off fighting Estes for the honor of being the worst pitcher in the National League in the previous year?
  3. Wasn't Rosenthal the guy who gave arguably the dumbest analysis of the Cubs ever before the white sox game on Fox 2 weeks ago?
  4. Changed it to last 100 years...
  5. Just what a team that's constantly bunting needs
  6. Dusty fails to make the obvious choice on a daily basis. He is, however, both stupid and irrational, so it is difficult to predict how he will behave. Stupid, irrational and obvious. Wow, well I guess you should know since you have access to all the inside workings of the Cubs clubhouse and know everything there is to know about baseball. Because, to me, thats what it would take to make such a bold statement. Certain aspects of baseball may seem simple to us, but I bet if you talk to a lot of major league managers today, they will say that there are very few "obvious" choices in baseball except for the ones the fans tell us about. Of course, I could very well be wrong and baseball actually is a simple game with obvious choices that truly boils down to numbers and doesn't really involve human beings, but I'm certainly not smart enough or exposed to enough inside information to know this for sure. If you are, more power to ya. As far as this thread is concerned, I guess we'll see who is right when Dusty either starts Nevin in place of Murton on a regular basis or doesn't and uses him as a fill in for Lee and a platoon with Jones. Read the sections I've bolded, Cubswin.

  8. Large companies are always in debt. All that matters is how much debt they have relative to their income and assets.
  9. And just the other day I was lamenting the fact that the Cubs had managed to lose in every way except wendeling away runs. It's only May and they've pretty much pulled off the cycle.
  10. And you wonder why people call you a troll. actually i don't wonder. some people just don't like having their theories/beliefs & comments scrutinized. Pointing out that bean doesn't bat 1000 with draft picks scrutinizes/challenges no one's beliefs. he was referring to more than this one post. hence my answer which encompasses many subjects. A defense for "He was pointing to this post and others" cannot consist of talking about other subjects exclusively, especially when this post is the example given. huh? example of what? my initial post was a joke. i've said several times that beane's a great drafter, and that the cubs shouldn't try to model oakland or atl (bring up the kids to fill holes) cause the cubs suck at drafting. Classic, he responds to "you were trolling" with "I was trolling" as a defense.

  13. I miss wendell kim. As long as we're rooting for hillariously bad losses, it would be nice to have him around helping.
  14. The Rangers picked up ~$50 million, depending on what part of his salary that applied to, and how much the Yanks would be willing to pick up of the remainder, it should be discussed. Although I'd remain on the sideline if it's the full contract (throw Pierre, Jones, Neifi, Rusch, Hendry and Baker together and I might talk). I wouldn't care if it was the full contract. He's the 2nd best offensive player in baseball. Behind who? Manny? And no I don't think Pujols is the best offensive player in MLB, I think ARod/Manny are just as good, if not better, and they play in a league where pitchers are more unpredictable then the NL. You are wrong. There is nothing you can point to to even make someone unfamiliar with the league say "eh, maybe he's got a point" It's not close. The difference in OPS between pujols and the #4 guy is the same as the difference between #4 and #60. Pujols has been consistently top 3 since he started playing while being much younger than all the people above him. this year he's simply crushing everyone. edit: I should point out that ARod and manny aren't in that top 4, or even close (top 20)
  15. written a bit too early, huh
  16. You cant blame Dusty on this one... But, it will add to the loss column... Which is what really matters. Given that Dusty's only possible positive is getting the most out of players, when he gets the least out of players I most certainly can blame it on him. (and the players)
  17. 1 game closer to making it impossible to extend dusty.
  18. What was that guy thinking, sliding feet first
  19. What does going to USC have to do with it? Oh, you californians are all on some sort of drugs.
  20. Please, tell me what being the fan of a winning ballclub is worth.
  21. In other news, Hendry's plan to get nice guys failed miserably at making a winning team.
  22. I disagree. A) they do take position into consideration. You ever seen a suspension for a starting pitcher below 5 games? It's not a coincidence. The point isn't suspending guys for the same number of games, but taking them away from their team for the same percentage of the season.
  23. How many do we have now? Walker Hairston Neifi Bynum Theriot That's 5. Did I forget anyone? Cedeno.
