    Not only is bunting a piss-poor strategy, the Cubs are really BAD AT IT. Its really incredible how they just keep banging their head against a brick wall, hoping the next time they throw their head forward the wall will turn into Jello. One of these days pierre will master bunting 135 feet in the air and become the master of OBP.

    that would be quite a feat, but not one they accomplished. The only teams as bad as the nats (marlins and pirates) have gotten crushed by the cubs. May 2 vs Pirates, Cubs lose 8-0. Cubs lead series 3-2. The Cubs took 2 of 3 from FLA by a combined score of 14-11. I wouldn't say the Cubs crushed either team. I was speaking in terms of scoring, not run differential. I missed that shutout, though :oops:

    Did you intentionally leave JP and his sub-.270 OBP out of the list of "killers"? the expectations around him weren't too high, so didn't feel like lumping w/ with the manager, 2 starters and aram. Mindboggling claim, given that Hendry considered leadoff the big problem with the offense. Or was this thread on Jim Hendry's comments not concerned with what Jim Hendry thinks?

    Yes, Dusty will be bashed if he makes the wrong move, whether it's pulling a pitcher early or late. Not that I'd suggest doing that in this case, if Maddux wanted out. Still, the fact that Dusty was bad with pulling pitchers late in no way makes him immune to criticism for pulling them early
