  1. The atmosphere was incredible. It's just a huge party. I heard many people say that all circumstances should have made it a horrible day but that everyone had a blast.
  2. Some of you know that I have been a Royals season ticket holder in the past and follow them very closely. I even call myself a fan. We went to the parade yesterday and it was the craziest event I have ever been to. Since there is no legitimate public transportation in KC the 400,000-800,000 people that showed up (depending on which estimate you believe) created a gridlock like I've never seen. People just left their cars on the Interstate and walked 4-5 miles to get to the parade. We could not leave our parking spot for 3 hours after the rally was over. The restaurants ran out of food. Thankfully, we were somewhat prepared for something like that and had brought food and water. The places people had parked their cars was just insane. I know many thousands of people just turned around after sitting in traffic for over 3 hours trying to get there. The shuttles that they had setup still had a line when we left after 6:00 pm. Still had a blast.
  3. How was using Davis for 2 innings yesterday baffling?
  4. How much of that was during his comeback from injury? The Royals basically treated his September like spring training for the playoffs. He was pretty bad during that time. Good call...24.4% before the injury, 30.2% after Thanks. I have watched a ton of Alex Gordon and I absolutely love him. That said, I would much rather have Heyward. Me too, what would it cost to pry Cain from the Royals? He has to be getting expensive soon? I just don't see that happening until/if the Royals think they are out of it in 2017.

  7. I'm not convinced that was called from the dugout. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it was.
  8. Harold Reynolds continues to amaze with his idiocy.
  9. what the hell nothing. there's literally nothing to glean from any of that information. it's happenstance, coincidence, etc. a playoff series can only be understood in the context of itself and perhaps, but not always, the trajectory of the team prior to that moment. the season prior, much less THIRTY ONE seasons prior, have absolutely, positively, nothing to do with it As I've also said.
  10. I said series not season. And I am already turning the corner towards being excited about 2016. This team was a blast. That series was pure torture.
  11. I was at this game. One of my first vivid memories of MLB. Cubs won 1-0 on a Scott Servais HR into the LF bullpen just to my right. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN199508050.shtml
  12. Also, I tried everything to get myself up for the game. Don't know how you can control your feelings towards something. If anybody knows how to do that let me know. I didn't make the choice to be miserable.
  13. I feel sorry for his wife. My short term negativity to a series performance like this is pretty much my only major character flaw. And at least I recognize that I'm ridiculous. She did alright.
  14. You said they didn't show up. That implies that they didn't try. If other people use that to imply they didn't try, ok. But that's not what I meant. Even in my most irrational heat of the moment I still laughed at the Cardinals fans who were talking about 1908. One of the things this team gave me this year is that I really do not care at all what Cardinals fans think about anything anymore. And I know this season really hurt them. I also want to point out that I never booed them. Would never do that.
  15. Never said they didn't try. Said they sucked in the most important games of their lives to this point. And said that pissed me off because I care too much and envied those who don't feel like me.
  16. wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait you stayed to watch the Mets celebrate on the Cubs home field but yet you purposely left before your favorite baseball team came out to salute, you, and the other remaining fans???? As a baseball fan I can handle other teams succeeding. I've seen one pennant clinching before (last year's ALCS) and thought for historic reasons it would be cool to see one in both leagues. That doesn't bother me. I'm pissed at these players for not showing up this series. I will be there full throat next season. And I was every game up until last night this season. But I am not over it yet. And I definitely wasn't last night.
  17. I wasn't the only one. Cop on horseback made a comment that nobody was excited about going to see a Cubs playoff game. Was actually surprised by how good the crowd was. I cannot take credit for being a part of it. Also, I tried to sell them but my wife wanted to go and wouldn't let me.
  18. I envy the people who are excited about the future of this team today. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade our potential for any other teams' potential. But I don't want to talk about that yet. Not even close. I went to my first Cubs postseason game yesterday and literally did not enjoy a minute of it. Because the series was 3-0 and I completely expected Hammel to suck and Matz to dominate I couldn't even get excited about walking in. It was like I was fulfilling an obligation by going. By the middle of the first I couldn't wait for it to get over. The only sliver of excitement I felt was when Starlin made solid contact with the bases loaded. That lasted about 0.1 seconds. Glad some of you aren't hung up on this series from hell, but it's going to be a pretty long time before I am over it. Even if the series was 2-1 I would have been pumped leading up to the game. If they could have actually gotten a lead in the game. Maybe if they even could have threatened to take the lead in the game. Nothing worth celebrating this week. Stayed to see the end of the game and Mets celebrate, but I purposefully left before the team came back out.
  19. That was my argument. I mean, this series sucked, but the season and the 2 rounds before that were pretty awesome. Only 4 teams made it as far as the Cubs did this year. Of course, I'm sad that it's over, and I'm not at all happy with how it ended, but I just can't be that miserable. Disappointed, but not miserable. Yeah. They were. I thought this was going to be my favorite sports team ever. Actually, they were for a few days. 2003 Cubs passed them this week. There was zero joy I gained from this series.
  20. That was my argument.
  21. The NLCS is hard? How is it any more hard for the Cubs than any other team? It's a coin flip. I dunno, is it? You haven't compared the Cubs NLCS record to anyone elses here. You pointed at the Cubs record and said "it's bad". The Dodgers are 4-12 in their last 16 NLCS games. Which means that somebody out there has really good records. So what? We cheer for a team that has a horrible record in their most important games. That sucks. Sucks for the Dodgers too. The Cubs have been completely inept in their most important games. That pisses me off. Not saying it will continue. We could go 90s Yankees and win 4 of 5 WS. But right now we cheer for a team that makes the postseason miserable. Seriously. Every one of our appearances has ended in a 3-game losing streak. If you don't see how that sucks...
  22. The NLCS is hard? How is it any more hard for the Cubs than any other team? It's a coin flip. I understand how baseball works and that at any time any team in MLB could take 4 games from another. It still sucks big time that this franchise finds a way to crash and burn every single time. They don't just lose. They lose big. Does that mean we will in 2016? No. Do any of those teams from years past have anything to do with 2015? No. But it sucks, that this team has made every single postseason trip unbearable. Beating the Cardinals was great. Show up in the NLCS for just once without also having an epic collapse. We got whooped in the playoffs. Again. Happens every time. May not happen next year, but I'm sick of getting whooped.
  23. 4-15 their last 19 games in the NLCS. Cubs have had at least a 3-game losing streak every single time they've made the playoffs in the divisional era. 84, 89, 98, 07, 08, 15. I don't believe past seasons have anything to do with the present, but what the hell?
