  1. I'll throw a party the day Joe West retires.
  2. Makes it easy to get cheap tickets to see your favorite teams. Plus you make friends with season ticket holders and score some free ones occasionally. Yep. Used to go to a ton of games for free in KC all the way up to the end of the 2014 regular season.
  3. Do you have MLB.tv? I think if there is no local feed for a game you can watch a MLB.com broadcast without blackouts. Edit: it shows FSSD broadcasting the game.
  4. Once we have a recent one I say we fill up the area behind the bleachers in right center field with pennants and WS titles.
  5. If we clinch the division in July maybe we won't have to makeup the rainout games.
  6. the Nats/Royals series is tied 1-1 Oh weird, I didn't see the Royals scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win, that shouldn't have happened Have you ever watched a Royals game? That's what they do for about 3 years now.
  7. Fangraphs is now projecting the Cubs to lead the majors in runs scored and runs allowed (as in fewest runs allowed) for the full season. http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings
  8. I'm pretty sure that chaplains offered by teams is a pretty regular thing. According to wikipedia:
  9. Jake needs to adjust his sliders or he's going to get bored playing this game pretty soon.
  10. So if the Pirates play in the WC game again they likely get Scherzer, Kershaw, Bumgarner, Greinke, whoever is the Mets or Cardinals ace. All very difficult opponents. Their reward for winning? Likely Arrieta, Lester and some stud Theo gets at the deadline.
  11. Yes. Doesn't mean Smith had a "solid hit" like you said. I happen to think getting the ball on the ground on the general side of the field where the fielder is vacating against a MLB hitter is a really good piece of hitting and doesn't fall in the "cheap hit" category.
  12. You guys know how a hit and run works, right?
  13. When did two solid hits and a deep sac fly turn into a cheap run?
  14. This is going to be funny when we win by 3.
  15. This game does suck, but we've only used just over half our outs and I doubt their bullpen is any good.
  16. Lackey hadn't given up any hits at the time. Still dumb, but that's why he would be upset. I'm aware, but like you said, if that is it it's still incredibly dumb.
  17. Please tell me there is something other than him complaining about a leadoff bunt attempt in a 0-0 game in the 5th.
  18. Strike 3 to Aybar was pretty. Heyward's glove is pretty.
  19. Can we turn this into historical places we've been to? -Bunch of NY stuff -Bunch of DC/Philadelphia stuff -Like the whole Oregon Trail -Lincoln's boyhood home, home in Springfield, Ford theater, burial site and site of one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates -Truman home -Babe Ruth's birthplace -Numerous Civil War battle sites -Royal Gorge -USS Constellation (Civil War Ship) Places I want to go: Boston, Montreal, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Havana, Machu Picchu, Egypt, Jerusalem However, world politics will probably not allow some of these (at least not safely) and my bank account may only accommodate one or two of these.
  20. If my math is correct the Cubs are 62-23 their last 85 regular season games. That's a 118-win pace.
  21. I really do think the lack of solid coverage of that team from local media for years is a big factor in what makes Cardinals fans the way they are. I get that the vast majority of baseball fans are complete morons, but I know literally hundreds of Cardinals fans and have never come across a single one that I feel I can carry any sort of baseball conversation with for more than a full minute before I'm rolling my eyes. And that conversation could be completely non-Cubs/Cardinals related. For those of us who have lived in the Cardinals media market we can appreciate that they have literally no insightful/non-homer analysis and have not for as long as I can remember. You're on to something. As someone who lives in the Milwaukee TV market, I see the media tripping over each other trying to suck up to the Packers. They're afraid to say anything negative lest they alienate their audience. So everything is rainbows and lollipops and unicorns pooping butterflies. Here it enough and all the suckers out there start to believe it. As a Packers fan who has never lived in WI but work remotely for a group in Milwaukee so actually go there regularly I completely agree. Packers/Cardinals fans have a lot of parallels. And on the Sox fans. My roommate and one of the best friends I will ever have is a White Sox fan and is probably the most knowledgeable level-headed baseball fan I know. We're talking about small sample sizes and individual experiences, but I can name fans I know of the Reds, White Sox, Royals, Indians, Twins, Rays, Brewers off the top of my head that I can discuss baseball with. Zero Cardinals fans out of hundreds.
