  1. I was out of the room. How did Gaudin balk?
  2. Um, I saw daylight the entire time on the replays. I don't think he hit the glove.
  3. The Mets are down 6-1 going to the ninth.
  4. I'm really hoping to be able to. I would get to go to all 3 WS games, and the tentative Games 6 and 7 of the NLCS, not to mention a potential Game 5 of the NLDS (which I already have tix too). Obviously, these would all be huge, decisive games.
  5. This reminds me of Castillo's one-hitter against the Cards.
  6. At least we don't have to win these games this weekend so those guys can work on getting ready for Wednesday instead of trying to win the division this weekend.
  7. If baserunning blunders was the end all to making a playoffs, then Ryan Theriot shouldn't be on the roster. Hoffpauir pulled a brain fart, but I still prefer him over Ward in the playoffs. I like Ward, but I feel much better with Hoff up there. I really want him on the roster instead of Ward.
  8. My cousin married a guy who worked his way through college by working at Wrigley Field. Apparently he became pretty good friends with a guy who works in the Cubs media dept. For the influx of photographers during the playoffs they need people to assist in the camera well just outside the dugout for all the Cubs home games. Knowing how much it would mean to me, my cousin thought of me and has suggested me for the job. I can't wait to hear back, although I'm worried because of exams I can't make games 1 or 2 of both the NLDS and the NLCS. I go to school in Columbia, MO.
  9. My first Wrigley game. May 13, 1996. Aisle 524. Steve Trachsel one-hits the Astros. Brian Hunter lead off the game with a double. No more hits after that. This is the game I learned to keep score. I still have the scorecard somewhere. Sosa homered. Grace hit in Sandberg in the first. McCrae caught the final out. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN199605130.shtml
  10. August 5, 1995 W-Jim Bullinger, S-Randy Myers Left-field bleachers, Busch Stadium, Cubs win 1-0 on a Scott Servais solo homer into the Cubs bullpen just to my right. I'll never forget it despite the fact that I was only 7. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN199508050.shtml
  11. With the way Lilly is pitching I would like to see him between Harden and Z, with Z actually pitching 4th... Dempster, Harden, Lilly, Zambrano. Of course I think Z would let it go to his head that he was fourth and it make him completely ineffective.
  12. You know what would be awesome? A three-team tie. If the games matter on Sunday Sabathia, Santana and Hamels will all have to pitch. Then, if there is a tie the Mets and Phillies play on Monday in Philadelphia for the East and the loser plays the Brewers in either Philadelphia or New York for the Wild Card. Brett Myers and Jamie Moyer would be scheduled to pitch if Philadelphia plays 2. Oliver Perez and Pedro Martinez would be scheduled for the Mets. The Brewers would have a choice between Bush or Gallarado or Suppan on 3 days. I think it would be Gallardo. Bottom line: The Cubs will either play the Dodgers who won't know where they're going until Tuesday, or they'll play an NL East team that just played 2 games and used their three best pitchers over the 3 previous days.
  13. MLB should rethink their policy of not moving games around in September because of weather. If this game gets played in the afternoon there are no issues. If they start at 6, it could get ugly. Although, it'd be nice to get out of their with a Harden complete-game shutout (of the 5 or 6 inning variety).
  14. Pat Hughes mentioned it as well on the radio. So if the game is rained out, then the Brewers will either be up 0.5 or down 0.5 game. Assume the Brewers win tomorrow: If the Brewers win: 3 and the Mets win 3 the makeup will matter. 2 and the Mets win 2 or 3 the makeup will matter. 1 and the Mets win 1 or 2 the makeup will matter. 0 and the Mets win 0 or 1 the makeup will matter. Assume the Brewers lose tomorrow: If the Brewers win: 3 and the Mets win 2 or 3 the makeup will matter. 2 and the Mets win 1 or 2 the makeup will matter. 1 and the Mets win 0 or 1 the makeup will matter. 0 and the Mets win 0 the makeup will matter. One more wrinkle: Extremely unlikely, but if the Stros win all their games and MIL and NYM lose all their games then that makeup game will also matter. If the Stros were a couple games closer it would have been real interesting.

  16. ESPN announcers (not the most credible source) seem to think the game tomorrow may not be played b/c of rain. That would almost guarantee that it has to be made up at some point. I think for the sake of travel they should move the Cubs/Mets makeup game to Milwaukee and the Brewers/Mets tiebreaker on Tuesday should be moved to Milwaukee so Bud can just keep favoring the Cubs and Brewers. Of course I'm only kidding.
  17. With each passing victory the Cubs increase the best record they've had in my lifetime...
  18. that never happened. i'm like 98% sure that was in the 7th inning. gj rammy. my friend tells me you just hit a home run. It was in the 8th inning I think, and we already had a 1 run lead. I honestly don't know why I typed walk-off. I meant go-ahead, which I'm pretty sure it was go-ahead. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200705190.shtml We had a 1 run lead when he hit it, but we entered that inning trailing by 1. That's right. I knew it wasn't in the ninth (so, not a walk-off) b/c I remember getting a call from somebody after it and still watching the game.
  19. I'm laughing at all those people that wanted the Cubs to lose so the bullpen wouldn't have to pitch.

  21. You know that Santo is loving every minute of this back home. If he's awake...
  22. OH BABY! That is what I like to see from my team!
  23. Come on Rammy. We want an insurance run.
