  1. Like I said, Pinkle's stupid ideas, like humongous splits work against slower teams, but Texas, OU, OSU will just run right through the holes untouched. This is so terrible. Ruined my night before it even started.
  2. I could have gone to the Blues/Blackhawks game tonight, but didn't because of this. Once again our team is not showing up. Seriously, I feel like I'm watching the NLDS again, it just doesn't hurt quite as much...
  3. How do they not get a hand on that floater? Terrible.
  4. I love how before the game everybody was saying that Mizzou had the least likely chance of a letdown since they lost last week and Texas beat OU and now Musburger says that this is a carry-over from the upset last week that MIzzou is playing bad. Maybe they're just playing bad, last week and this week. Or maybe Pinkle's teams are never ready for big games...
  5. Way too much pressure on our offense. No chance at a run. Defense can't make a stop. This is not going to be fun. I thought our players looked down before it even started. They look like the Cubs out there, folding under pressure.
  6. They know how to pick apart bad teams, but don't know how to hang with good teams. I still think Pinkle is a complete moron. He does a lot of weird things (like the crazy splits, sometimes putting only a guard on one end but no tackle), but nobody says anything because Mizzou trounces people. Then they play good teams that are too athletic to try stupid stuff against.
  7. So what happened? I've been flipping from the Mizzou game to the Rays game but I think another show was on TBS... Everytime I flip over it's at commercial. What's up. They're just running commercials? EDIT: OK, so now they're back and said, "You didn't miss much." Um, it's 1-0... Hahahahahaha at TBS.
  8. OK, here we go! Let's go Mizzou!
  9. You forgot the Brewers. EDIT: Wow! Going into these playoffs all four teams had not been to the WS during that stretch (and actually longer, 1993-Phillies). So, the three teams that lost could all say the same thing, we're one of only 6 franchises to not go to the WS from the NL in the last 11 seasons. That's crazy.
  10. Randy Moss is "hurting" me this year. I'm 5-1... But seriously, I can't stand Edgerrin James. Last year I got stuck with him in a non-live draft league that only had 4 bench spots and he was on the can't cut list. It was a total waste of a roster spot last year. We only had the 4 bench spots but 2 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 2 TE. Honestly, it was just a stupid setup, but James killed me.
  11. My total was $225.12 and they gave me $219.12 back so $6 to print my tix as well...
  12. I got my NLCS but not NLDS refund (which I sent in the same envelope). I demanded that they refund my fees as well and they actually DID! Wow, did they do this for anybody else, or did my demand actually work? EDIT: They actually kept some of the fees, but not all of them. I still got about 75% of the fees back. I'm guessing they did this for everybody.
  13. No refund for Game 5 of the NLDS or Game 2 of the NLCS for me. I mailed them in and tracking shows they were signed for at Wrigley (I sent them certified which costs $7)... Seriously, this franchise is so frustrating.
  14. OK. How do they lose this series now? Looks like another Boston season...
  15. This is insane. Why couldn't our Cubs do anything remotely close to this. I guess 9th inning of Game 2 was remotely close, but not close.
  16. I don't understand that. If it weren't for him the Yankees would have beat the Cardinals in 2004 instead of the Red Sox. If a player ever did that much for the Cubs to win a WS (I don't care who it is, much less a perenial all-star) I could never boo him.
  17. I have XM Radio and mlb.tv. I have heard nearly every TV and radio announcing duo in baseball. There just aren't very many good ones. It's pretty sad actually. Outside of the Brewers and Cubs TV and radio, the NL Central is just terrible.
  18. Does this even warrant a discussion?
  19. I really hate this line. Either the GM utilizes his resources correctly, or he doesn't. There have been plenty of 'expensive' teams that are not playoffs teams over the last 10 years. If you believe he has correctly utilized his budget when acquiring talent, then you can't come to the conclusion that he's not a good baseball man and just fortunate. If you believe he has poorly utilized his budget when acquiring talent, then it seems reasonable to question his baseball talent evaluation skills, but then you have to do an adequate job explaining how a consensus elite and deep team is merely a fortunate team. It is a tough argument to sell that he is a poor GM coming off a 97 win season in which the team had an elite offense (2nd in MLB Runs, 3rd in MLB OPS), an elite pitching staff (3rd in MLB Runs Allowed, 3rd in MLB OPS Against), and a middle-of-the-pack defense. And it is very much the same team from 2007, and likely the same team in 2009 which will be projected as the 90+ Win division holder once again. Every year the Cubs have been contenders Hendry has gone out and gotten something to fill a hole, or even just to bolster a weak spot. What have the Cubs lost for them? Bobby Hill, Hee Seop Choi, Dontrelle Willis? Ricky Nolasco is about all the Cubs have lost off the top of my head that I would really want back. Then think of '03-'04. Hill, Choi, Willis, Hundley, Alex Gonzalez, Brendan Harris out the door for ARam, Lofton, Simon, Lee, Karros, Grudzielanek, Nomar, Clement, and Murton. Murton, Sean Gallagher and Eric Patterson netted us Harden and Gaudin this year. You get the picture, he get's a lot back on his returns. Sure he's made some stupid moves (Pierre), but at the same time everybody was begging for a leadoff hitter and the Cubs still don't have one. I'll take my chances with Jim any day.
  20. Texas TD. I love runbacks. They're so exciting!
  21. The thing is, I wish nobody could win. Honestly, I guess I want the NL to win, but I can't stand Philly or LA. The thought of three of the four expansion teams in my life winning the WS (one of them twice and at our expense) and the other one making it before the Cubs do is just infuriating. I'm really tired of the Red Sox. So, I'm just annoyed by the whole thing.
  22. I hate cats. I love dogs. Especially black labs. Seriously, man's best friend. I've already decided I'm getting a black lab after I graduate. I love dogs so much. Wish I could have one now. Me too. I really hate this four-year period where I can't have a good dog. I got a black lab in '99 as a puppy. He died last winter at my grandparents. It hit me pretty hard. I want another one.
  23. I didn't care, but I'm definitely pulling for Philly. I hate the Dodgers now. I think it's mostly Manny. McCarver and Buck are so annoying and giddy about the Cubs total collapse.
  24. I hate cats. I love dogs. Especially black labs. Seriously, man's best friend.
  25. Wow this thread has gone crazy. I was mad because Sori rolled over like a kicked dog, but I'm sure he felt just as bad if not worse than most of us. It's just frustrating to expect so much from him (and others) and get nothing.
