  1. This is really funny taken out of context. I have DVR and I don't think you can conclusively say he got the left hand in there. I think he most likely did, but it is not 100% certain.
  2. He was safe. Z's getting suspended for no reason. Z's suspension for the bump is going to be BS though because the ump bumped him. Are you sure he got his left hand in there? The last replay i saw it appeared Z had done a pretty good job of blockin the plate. I would say if I had to guess he got it in there, but I don't think it's conclusive either way.
  3. Did we get that machine because we didn't want Milton throwing the cooler onto the field?
  4. Carlos ejected the umpire because he initiated the contact. Z did push back. Haha. As soon as I say this MLB.tv catches up and Bob points it out as I type it.
  5. I wanted to go to the game tonight, but I had to work. I want to see him pitch this year.
  6. He should've said, "I pity the Cubs. You guys sucks!"
  7. Well there's Aaron's one solid hit for the week, too bad it was foul.
  8. Haha. Capps is on my fantasy team. I can't believe how many lefties the Cubs are seeing tonight.
  9. [nitpick]It was actually 1972. They had winning seasons every year from 1967 through 1972, then beginning with 1973 they didn't have another winning season until 1984 (there was one 81-81 season in that stretch). [/nitpick] Were spoiled now. growing up on the Cubs teams of the 80's and 90's, I was just happy when the Cubs won 1 here and there. Hell, they didnt have to, if my favorite players had a good game, that would suffice as well. Besides '89 and the marginal '98 team, I really didnt grow up with a winning team. Then 2003 came along, and that winning thing that other teams seemed to do so often felt good. Once I got that taste in my mouth, there was no turing back, and while 2006 wasnt much worse than most of those crap teams Id accepted all those years, Id finally developed expectations, and failure wouldnt do anymore. not one bit. Exactly. I became a different fan after 2003. Not in terms of how much I watched or followed, but how I followed the Cubs. Of course we pay $50 a ticket for the bleachers now so maybe we deserve a winner? No?
  10. I'll be at this game. I hope Soriano welcomes him back with a long homerun.
  11. It's hard to get mad at this team right now, but I really expect to win a game with this pitching matchup. Cubs bats need to bust out against the bullpen. They have the time.
  12. We should follow the Yankees suit and DL Gregg.
  13. Back? He never left. I think he meant back on the hill...
  14. So one guy has a whip of about 1.7 and an ERA of about 3.50 while this other guy has a whip of 1.6 and an ERA close to 7.00. Cool. Obviously there appears to be a pretty good linear fit to these statistics.
  15. Of course it's flawed. If Soriano was replaced with Johnson, Bradley with Gathright (I know he's not here anymore just using him as example), Theriot with Miles, and Ramirez with Freel, I bet the Cubs lose a lot more than 4/5 extra games over a 6-week period.
  16. I see him take a lot of low-and-away pitches called for strikes. I think the ump is good for one BAD call (not borderline) on him every game.
  17. You should be able to retroactively serve a suspension. I like how MLB took forever making their decision but just happened to come out with it DIRECTLY AFTER he sat out a game. Was Bob Watson looking at the video over and over again trying to find the slightest evidence of a bill-to-bill bump? I know I'm ranting now, but it's insane that he argues for such a short amount of time and leaves but he gets suspended. They should also take into account the horrible call and the situation. I almost always hate Watson's decisions.
  18. Thats just because fans were overreacting WAY more then they should have been. Right now the Cubs are 20-14 and one game ahead of the 19-15 record they had last season after 34 games. Last season team had issues as well, but probably not as many and this season team has had a tough schedule. This team is good and will be in the playoffs and my opinion of the team has never changed. Too bad so many people bash this team when things go bad for a stretch. It's easy to worry about this team. People don't think Dempster can repeat. Soto may have a sophomore slump. Lee is worthless. There's a good chance that neither Bradley and Soriano will be healthy enough to play 130 games. Ramirez may not even come back this season. Fukudome started well last year and crashed. Nobody likes Theriot for some reason. Zambrano is hurt. Harden will get hurt. There is no middle bullpen. Marmol and Gregg have been less than ideal to this point. There are plenty of worries. It's just easier to forget them when they run off a 10-3 stretch.
  19. I think that either Milton's suspension and fine will be completely revoked or this guy will get suspended. The Players' Union would have a strong case against MLB if Leyland, Ordonez, and Bradley all serve suspensions but Schreiber (sp?) doesn't.
  20. Am I the only person listening to WGN Radio and heard the Cubs won?
