  1. What is going on? I thought we already met our run quota for the series!
  2. Wow! Back-to-back-to-back-to-back singles for Lee, Ramirez, Bradley and Soriano? :yahoo:
  3. I wonder how Andy feels. Brother gets to go play for the Red Sox and he has to stay in Pittsburgh.
  4. I really like the DBacks unis all the way around (home, alternate, away). The new color scheme is just awesome. Oldmiss is right. Pinstripes with high socks are awesome. Royals powder blues are nice. I like most of the Astros stuff. I give best hat award to the Rangers for the traditional blue hat.
  5. Actually he just is strange. He is far from arrogant. He has anxiety issues. He used to go up to people in the mall and ask if they would be his friend and try to swap phone numbers with him.
  6. I know it sounds nice offensively, but the amount of anger I would suffer due to Soriano and Dunn in the same outfield would be immeasurable. How about Dunn in LF, Soriano in CF and Braun in RF?
  7. I got a pretty good deal on some bleacher tickets for July 27. Since I'll be making the trip from 6-7 hours away I'm planning on going to games on July 28 and 29 as well. Outside of the usual listings on StubHub and eBay, does anybody know any other ways to get decently priced tickets? We're willing to sit just about anywhere. My cousin mentioned that the morning of day games the Cubs sell whatever player tickets don't get used. Do you know when and how this is done? How reasonable are the scalpers around Wrigley? I just know there are a lot of things I know about getting Royals and Cardinals tickets and I figured you all may know some secrets about Wrigley.
  8. I was fortunate to be at every home playoff game this year and I can't even begin to describe how loud that place was. You couldn't even hear your own voice..i still get chills listening to that today. It seems that most Hawk fans are Sox fans though based on my unscientific poll. They showed clips of both Lou and Ozzie just wishing the team well on the big screen during breaks/intermissions pretty much every game. The boo'ing of Lou rivaled the anthem volume wise every time. Oh well, can't win them all ;) Were they saying LOOOOOOUUUUUU?
  9. Neither did I. I assumed teams could substitute at will. While play is going on you can substitute at will. If you have control of the puck you can only actually have 5 guys on the ice. If you do not have control of the puck you can have more players on the ice as long as some are obviously coming off. If there is a face-off, the road team has to send out their players first. This gives the home team the advantage of setting the match ups. I just learned something new.
  10. We keep telling ourselves how bad the Central Division is, but remember this....... CUBS are 24-21 vs. NL Central We have seen the enemy, and they are us...... or words to that effect. In my opinion: The Cubs are better than they've played. The Reds, Astros, Brewers and maybe Cardinals are all playing better than they actually are. The Cubs are still right there.
  11. As Scott Van Pelt said today, as soon as the Cubs bust out an 8-game winning streak everybody will be back on the bandwagon and will be discounting the rest of the NL Central.
  12. Robinson lined out to right center.
  13. Eric Young Jr. is playing in the AAA All-Star game. His dad is announcing.
  14. he throws like a girl well there's two reasons for impeachment. Add in the fact that he's a Sox fan and we've got a legit case. And that's without mentioning the whole communism thing. But the Senate is Communist too. We'll never get an impeachment...
  15. I've been saying it all year. Pujols footwork is especially bad this year. Wright's throw was bad, but Pujols should have caught it.
  16. There's a time and a place to voice displeasure over a President. I don't think throwing out a first pitch of an All-Star game is one of them. Sometimes people should just be respectful of the office itself. I'm not saying you have to applaud the man, but booing over an all-star game first pitch is tacky. How many times will a group of Missourians get the chance to voice their displeasure about Obama without going to a pro-Obama event? EDIT: That being said, I don't want to turn the attention away from the All-Star Game in this thread so I'm done commenting on Obama.
  17. Well MLB was smart enough to put Pujols behind the plate for it because rural Missourians (myself included) are very passionately opposed to Obama. That being said, I hope he's booed relentlessly. He won't be, but I wish he would be. A battery of Obama and Pujols. Now that's disgusting.
  18. The consensus now seems to be Carpenter on Friday and Thompson on Saturday - the Cardinals' MLB.com site has changed their matchups now. Their postgame just said it's Carpenter.
  19. He's tired from carrying the team on his back the past few days. Cubs are lame. Not to complain about the ump, but there were a lot of tough strike calls on Lee today and Kawamaki pitched really well against him today. He did exactly what he wanted against Lee and was given some extra off the outside corner.
