  1. Man that would be an amazing time. If there is anything better than a good Cubs team it will be a good Cubs team that insults the gentile sensibilities of those preachy coonts Harper had tons of great things to say during the series at Wrigley last week. Great stuff about Cubs management, Wrigley, and Bryant. Plus caught around town in Blackhawks attire. None of it probably matters and he will go to the highest bidder but I'm going to just keep dreaming he is coming here..
  2. I think I would take Rizzo over Stanton at this point. Stanton has better pure power but I think Rizzo is a tougher out. I'd rather Rizzo take tough AB's in the playoffs over Stanton.
  3. Look, if Baez even comes close to his ceiling, you absolutely make room for him. Writing him off as a pro or rooting for increased trade value seems like the popular thing to do lately, but I still have hope. I don't want to go meatbally (because I still have hope for him, too), but perhaps it will be Castro we don't have room for? Plus he definitely looks to be adjusting. They are tangible adjustments as well where it is clear he has made changes (shorter stride, more closed stance, and crowding the plate). The adjustments are huge but even without the change in the swing.. Baez of wild, erratic violent swing Javy was likely to adjust an impact bat at some point. He always has started slow to horrendous when going up a level & eventually figures stuff out. Not to say the erratic swing mechanics version of Baez was definitely going to become a star but I certainly think he would have improved. Add in the significant work of shortening his string & erasing tons of added movement and I admit I am downright excited to see what he can do. I want to give Baez every shot to perform. He has too much potential for me to write-off. He could legit be a 3rd Superstar bat to add to the lineup.
  4. They were talking a couple weeks ago that Javy is crowding the plate (get more coverage on the outside pitch), closed his stance up a bit, and isn't doing the big kick on pitches with 2 strikes.
  5. Sure I think the Cubs would say Yes to a young, top-notch center fielder... Mike Trout, sure?
  6. It's like the complete opposite of Ted Lilly slamming his glove down. What was this from, I didnt see the beginning of the game today?
  7. http://m.mlb.com/video/v87719183/chccin-ross-doubles-in-a-pair-in-the-11th/?query=david+ross how quickly we forget It was sarcasm. I understand he has hit like 2 balls hard this year. I still hate him & I dont understand why Lester needs him that bad. Make him a bullpen catcher or something if Lester needs him close by.
  8. Uhhh I wouldnt call it a stupid send. A decent slide & he beats it easily.
  9. I assume the MLB does have way better camera views than what ABC7 shows for are in game broadcast. Do different channels have different camera crews? I notice ESPN usually does have better replays. By the way David Ross wins the game on his hardest hit ball of the year.
  10. Looks like Matt Adams is out for the year. How realistic is it that the Cubs get hot and can win this division ahead of the Cardinals?
  11. Amaro rips fans. I get it.. lots of fans are stupid but Amaro is pretty dumb himself. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/philadelphia-phillies-gm-ruben-amaro-jr-says-fans-dont-understand-the-game-052615?adbsc=social_20150526_46475076&adbid=10153922014734552&adbpl=fb&adbpr=112638779551
  12. Is Heyman reliable? I really dont want to see Javy traded..
  13. Alcantara is who I choose to sacrifice to the "at least one prospect must fail gods" so that Javy turns into a beast.

  15. yeah your right, but maybe a suitor for a trade wont pull the trigger till they see some mlb performance? no idea tbh And then if he struggles in the bigs, the suitor would say no. Why would the Cubs bend to that? (I don't think he's coming up right now; he was just double switched out due to in-game strategy which is frustrating when it's a prospect who needs as many reps as possible.) Maybe he was pulled due to attitude or something and they dont want to publicize it.
  16. Does Javy have the speed for CF? I know it is more than just pure speed but he was athletic enough for SS and seems to have decent baseball instincts plus a good arm.
  17. Maybe the reason those franchises have almost 50 World Series titles combined & the Cubs haven't won for 100 years is because they had better players.
  18. The Brewers have almost no choice but to head that way...not that it means they have the FO to get it done. For small market teams it's been a pretty common practice, if not intentionally, then just due to circumstance. Whether we'll see a larger market do it or to the level of the Cubs... I doubt it. Aren't the Astro's a pretty large market. 4th biggest city in the USA. Might not be as huge of a Metro area as maybe San Fran but its still plenty big.
  19. I thought I read the Cubs may have offered a little more than the Dodgers on Puig? Can we get back to discussing 05 Mark Prior though?
  20. Let's just say they could have had a $150 million payroll to work with. Inherited the same contracts and team of course. Then parallel paths were absolutely possible. As crappy as it was Id choose the total rebuild over parallel paths as well. Going two fronts I dont believe would have set us up nearly as close to the potential longterm dominance that is near now. I just believe our young lineup with this type of potential offense in the run environment right now is a very very good spot to be in.
  21. Yep. If you gave me a chance to do-over with an unnamed, generic, saber-savvy young GM who was interested in a true parallel fronts approach, I'd take it. If the Cubs miss the playoffs this year, and at worst that's an even-money proposition, they're 0-for-4. Coming back from 0-for-4 to a respectable ratio is not at all a gimme putt even with the kind of young talent this team has. A good GM could have had this team humming along with a solid team, a solid farm system and some solid results the last three years (with a non-zero chance of a WS title in one of them) instead of going nutso on 1 of the 3 and now finally starting to see it bubble up in the other two. What was a realistic offseason the first couple years that couldve put this team in contention? A lot of the guys everyone was clamoring for have been underwhelming.
  22. Im more interested in this whole thread. I forgot Prior was still a thing in 05. Was 05 the year a lot of doubt started to sprout up on this forum about Prior?
  23. Is Addison the youngest player in the NL? I remember Harper was opening day.
  24. Can someone post a really crappy lineup from a couple years ago. I saw someone do it the other day and want to show one to my pops.
