  1. I was hoping they would at least be wearing the Cuba jersey!
  2. Even if you do miss him and have absolutely nothing against, why would you be the least bit upset with the super stud now wearing that number? I never understood this thought process. It's not an insult to wear a number somebody wore before you. Idc that its Graces number I just wish he had a cool number like 3 or 7 or hell give him Rynos 23..
  3. A lot of Cubs fans on facebook are posting welcome the best Cubs 3B since Ron Santo. Got me thinking. Wouldn't you at least think about trading KB for an Aramis at the same age (23)? Didn't Aramis lready have a studly major league season at like age 21? If I remember right he struggled a couple years after that but the Cubs got him at age 24 and took off. Wouldn't Aramis age 23 through his prime in this offensive environment be extremely valuable? (of course who knows if he would duplicate it in this era). I would probably lean towards Bryant but I think many forget how good Aram was.
  4. MLB.TV is probably the best option. I believe someone said in one of these threads that MLB Network would be cutting into Bryant's ABs today too. ESPN Sportscenter will be cutting in for AB's too. It is also been pretty much the Kris Bryant SportsCenter show the last couple hours too. His press conference is on ESPN right now.
  5. Yeah; I'm Mr. Pays No Attention to This Kind of Stuff and even I was well aware of Strasburg and Harper for a lonnnnnnng time. Bryant is gonna rule, but I don't think he's anywhere near that kind of hype. And Trout was kind of a relative slow burn, too. I'd be more interested in how you would rank them all as prospects though through a mixture of minor league stats, their respective prospect ranking at the time, and the talent/skills they had shown at that time (pre major league)? I know hype wise Harper was probaby number 1, he was on SI at like age 16.
  6. are we talking about how hyped they were or how good they projected to be as major leaguers? we could also include derek jeter, who was still a prospect going into 1996. I'm fine with discussing both.. I know ARod was insane at a very very young age and a number 1 pick so I assume he was a pretty bigtime prospect. I was 5 years old though so I dont remember..
  7. I guess ARod would just make it right? He's exactly 20 years ago from when he was a prospect? Would he be number 1 then?
  8. Im sure specifically I missed some late 90's guys..
  9. Now that he has wrapped up his Minor League dominance where would you rank him as a prospect compared to everyone in the past 20 years. Obviously Trout is ahead of him right now but as a prospect would you rank Bryant higher than Trout was as a prospect (pre major league dominance)? If you put a top 10 list over the past 20 years of prospects what would it look like? 1) Harper 2) Felix Hernandez 3) Strasburg 4) Trout 5) Prior 6) Puig 7) Andruw Jones Maybe - Idk just remember he was sick at a young age at MLB level 8) Evan Longoria 9) David Price 10) Joe Mauer I just did this off the top of my head and I guarantee I missed some that probably deserve to be there. Maybe Kerry Wood, Mark Tex, Buster Posey, Dylan Bundy... plus more.. Where would KB rank? What would your top 10 look like?
  10. I know this is up for debate. So I clarified it as post 1900. I've read a few books that seem to have the 1st World Series as apart of the modern era. I've seen some have it as post deadball era (which correct me if I'm wrong ended probably somewhere around the late 1910's). I'm sure there is other opinions too.
  11. Put the answer in the spoiler :(
  12. I posted this in the random musings but it should probably go here.. Cubs fans looking for a good trivia question.. bet this would stump most of you, including me before today. Without looking I challenge you to put your answer in the Spoiler. Who has the Cubs record for highest WAR in a season with the Cubs and highest batting average single season (Modern ERA)?
  13. Cubs fans looking for a good trivia question.. bet this would stump most of you, including me before today. Without looking I challenge you to put your answer in the Spoiler. Who has the Cubs record for highest WAR in a season with the Cubs and highest batting average single season (Modern ERA - lets say post 1900)?
  14. That's ridiculous Kind of weird there is nobody younger than a guy turning 23 in five months. I know Javy would be if he were up.
  15. I know it probably is fairly insignificant as well but when we have Russell, Bryant, and Baez all up (lets say they all turn out to be upgrades - I know that is a bit sunny but I still have faith in Baez being valuable at the 2B position) will batting the pitcher 8th be more beneficial then or less beneficial? Essentially if are bottom of the order is one of the best 6, 7, 8's in baseball is it better at that time to have the pitcher bat 8th or is it better when you have a weaker bottom of the order? Lets say we have the best hitting 8th best hitter in baseball, is it better to bat him 9 to cluster with 1, 2, 3 or is it better to bat him 8th (get more AB's & interact with 5, 6, 7?
  16. What in the world does this mean?
  17. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-2015-statcast-advanced-hitting-pitching-defensive-stats/ Pretty interesting read.
  18. That is a pretty awesome list.. I like it.
  19. Where are my stat junkies at!
  20. The rules are I get to pick 6 players that had less than 130 total homers in 2014 combined plus 1 sub. Is it worth it to grab Bryant even though he will miss a month? His 0 homers would give me a ton of flexibility. I definitely plan on grabbing Stanton. Other thoughts? How would you put this together?
  21. Ive made this comparison before and mid 90s Sammy with tons of Ks, lower averages, and HR totals would be insanely available in the MIF, especially in this run enviroment.
  22. My guess would be definitely. Im sure a home team has been 1 hit before but manufactured that hit into a run or it was a HR and won the game 1 -0.
  23. Hey guys, I'm planning on getting tickets to the Iowa Cubs game on Sunday, April 19th. I coach HS Softball so Sunday is really the only day I could make it out to Iowa for a game. Do you guys expect KB will still be in Iowa on April 19th? That is there 11th game of the year and I've read they technically only need 9 games to get the extra year of control?
  24. Do you have the article this is from?
  25. On the play hit back at Lester does anyone know if Olt was calling for the ball? It did not look like it to me. If I'm pitching int hat situation and my infield is not howling to go 3 then I am instinctively going 1. The infield needs to get loud there, pretty basic communication. As far as the pickoffs... it is a little strange that a lefty never throws over to 1st.
