  1. Would broken bone be better news than torn ligaments? Obviously sprain or contusion would be best news.
  2. Its going in the Tanaka fund.
  3. They continually have the weirdest FO/Managers personalities Everytime I read Chip Hale's name I think of Tony Hale from Arrested Development. Buster Managing the DBacks..
  4. Especially first base. That is just plain stupid and actually slows you down. Ill give Javy this I was at the spring training game he dove into 1B and he used it to successfully avoid a tag. I love his fire.. that being said I want him healthy.
  5. It's a thumb contusion. I'd say not very. More concerned that hes diving into first base after breaking his hand diving into 2b last year.
  6. Javy needs to quit diving head first into bases.
  7. Hopefully it's here he's lurking, and hopefully he doesn't pull a Sean Gallagher's dad. What did Sean Gallaghers Dad do? Bryants Dad just seems like a proactive coach, pretty much what you would expect from a handson coach who played pro baseball.
  8. How has Javy looked this spring? In general who is doing well, and whose struggling? (not that either are huge indicators but Id rather see someone doing well).
  9. Literally laughed out loud in the office.
  10. Interesting that the Royals have the lowest expected wins out of the AL. Also surprised to see the Dodgers odds so high after this Giants offseason. The top 4 expected win totals are also all out of the NL. I know the projections clump a lot of data towards the median and its obviously expected one of those AL teams will out perform their projections and end up with a better record than a couple if not all of the NL top 4.
  11. Lets see him do all 9 in one game!
  12. I think it was Theo or Maddon said earlier this week that Schwarber would catch one to two days every week. That coupled with Soler in LF against smashing LHP's and the occasional day off for Heyward plus a little more frequent days off for Fowler I could see Soler still pushing 400 AB's. With all this talent I definitely dont want to see Grandpa Ross catching Lester EVERY single start. Mix him in some but we need to be getting Schwarber behind the plate more often and get these other guys some AB's. Not Ross as much as he seems to be a great guy. Late inning defensive OF of Fowler, Baez, and Heyward should be great too.
  13. I'd rather Fowler be new Coghlan, but whatever. The options, like I listed on the previous page, are pretty damn extensive. I would have guessed that it'd be Soler in RF, Heyward in CF, Schwarber in LF with Fowler picking up ABs at all three positions as the others get off days, against tough RHP, and when Schwarber catches. Soler as a roamer makes much less sense. People are assuming this makes Dexter the everyday CF, but I'm not buying that. Whoever was on ESPNRadio reported they signed Fowler to be their starting CF and will move Heyward back to RF but will get time in CF.
  14. When the Cubs unveil Bryce Harper in a few years.
  15. :hello: I thought he was goin to be a high avg doubles hitter. But i was 12.
  16. Thoughts? Id like to get this thread back on track to Baez. Not the biggest Baez fan. I believe we already have plenty of power and plenty of swing and miss. That said he's at the point you throw him to the wolves and see what he does. Give him a few months of regular playing time and if he slumps give him a shot to work out of it. No more kid gloves. If he is hitting .200 at the end of May, he's a defensive sub who can gives guys days off and sees 200-300 ABs a season. If he can .230+ with the expected power then he's a starter who you try to find 500 ABs by subbing him all over (2b, SS, 3b, OF). If he's the latter he'll probably take over 2b full-time next year and make Zobrist the super sub. Personally, if he's the latter, I'd rather trade him. Like I said we have plenty of power and too much swing and miss in the lineup already. If he is the latter I want to keep him. As BP said in the annual this year he can be the best bat at 2B by 2018, his power there can be unprecedented.
  17. Thoughts? Id like to get this thread back on track to Baez.
  18. Im pretty sure you changed your name to SammySofa because of a post I made too. Wonder if its in the archives.
  19. Sofa this is the stupidest thing I've ever read out of you. Javy goes by Javy, and the players & coaches call him Javy. We should change your name to SamuelSofa since you probably referred to slammin sammy as slammin samuel.
  20. I was extremely happen with what I saw from Javy in AAA last year and up with the majors. He is still going to strike out a lot but he definitely looked improved in that aspect. How many AB's can he get as a super sub? Can he play 5 out of every 7 games conceivably subbing in all three outfield spots, 2b, SS, and 3B? Will we see Schwarber catching once a week and Javy moving to the OF? Will we see late inning defensive outfields of Javy in CF, Heyward in RF & Soler/Schwarber or even both on the bench? If Rizzo eventually needs a day off do you move KB to 1B and Javy to 3B, Zobrist to 1B and Javy to 2b, etc? & of course what do you think of Javy's bat going forward?
  21. He's hit .276 .321 .367 .687 the last 2 years. If you want to help with wear and tear, you move him to the bench because his bat is garbage for 1b. So hopefully they move him to 1B.
  22. But they are both black Cubans.. Oh wait Vlad was Dominican.. Even though they dont play the same way I sorta see the comparison to Vlad. Similar body types, athletic, strong & sort of violent way of being athletic, from their swing, to the way they run. Some players are gracefully fluid, Vlad & Soler are kind of herky jerky in their elite athleticism.
  23. He was the best defensive CF of his generation and his offensive numbers are good enough, not many CF have a career ops of .900. I don't think people realize how good he was because he played for the Angles for so long. Was he better in CF than Griffey and Hunter (who a lot of his career overlapped with Edmonds)?
