  1. Well that is just flat out false.
  2. Lock up your rabbits Dude... :D
  3. To make it simple, he should get the standard suspension for charging the mound, where punches/helmets are always thrown - no more, no less. I suspect that's pretty much where it will end up. When you charge a mound, at least the guy that you're attacking has an opportunity to defend himself. That's alot different than sucker-punching someone when they're comletely unprepared for an attack. I don't agree with what Barrett did but it wasn't a sucker punch. They were face to face and if AJ couldn't see it coming then he's an idiot. Well, he is anyway but that is not the point. If Barrett had snuck up behind AJ and punched him, that would have been a sucker punch. There's NO WAY that AJ could have expected what was coming, considering he hadnt' really done anything wrong. When you walk up to someone and clearly let them know that you're ready to fight, then it's not a sucker-punch. When you simply walk up to someone and punch them when they clearly don't expect it, then I consider it a sucker-punch, because they clearly have no defense against it. There was no way that AJ could have gotten out of the way of that punch, under the circumstances. To me, it's a sucker-punch. Well if someone had their face about 6 inches from mine and was mad as hell I think I'd prepare myself for the very real possibility that the other person might try to clock me. But that's just me.
  4. I think Ramirez needs a day off today. Maybe Dusty will start Neifi at 3rd, Womack at 2B and let Blanco catch. Barrett really needs a day off too so he can rest up for his suspension.

  6. I didn't realize during the suspension the Cubs (and Sox) have to play with their roster at 24 players. If the Cubs bring up Soto they have to send someone down during the suspension, it's not just a Barrett for Soto swap. For a team as bad as this, playing a man short seems really unfair. Oh well, it seems we've been about 8 men short the whole year.
  7. I keep thinking I've hit rock bottom but the Cubs just keep on pulling stunts like today and I just keep going lower and lower. When will it end?
  8. If the Cubs would release the little munchkin I'd pay his salary!!! Well, I would if I had the money. But I think if someone claims him off waivers they have to pay him. If he clears waivers and then they sign him the Cubs have to pick up his salary. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.
  9. I'm not doing anything Sunday. I can start. My fastball is probably only around 47 mph but I throw strikes.
  10. A living human being for Jose Macias
  11. Hey, it's not like we haven't lost 3 in a row to the Marlins before. :x
  12. I have a chronic bad shoulder so I'll take the DL spot that Prior always occupies. I might come back to pitch but don't count on it.
  13. Clearly...a miracle. For some of the younger fans...welcome to the mid to late 70's where there was no hope in the present and very little for the future.
  14. Nah, it's much more simple than that. No conspiracies going on. The fact is Jim and Andy don't have a clue about what is wrong with the Cubs and what needs to be done to fix it. I don't really think Jim and Andy think there is anything wrong. It's just all bad luck.
  15. You just know that when they announce the extension it will be because Dusty's status has been a distration to the team and they want to do away with the distraction. Give them stability. Blah, blah, blah... The only thing I can figure it that Dusty has some compromising pictures of Jim and Andy.

  17. I wasn't a fan of the fight but 10 games seems a tad harsh for hitting an opposing player with a glancing blow. I think he'll get 5 games and then get it reduced to 3 in the appeal.
  18. Huh? So what did he take exception to? No, you leave your mask on to keep someone from punching your lights out. According to him, the bumping afterwards. Do you actually think Oswalt was going to throw a punch so he could get ejected and risk hurting his hand? No, I don't think he would ever do something that stupid...but Barrett obviously must have thought it.

  20. The problem is that we have a whole lot of people with zero trade value. And if we trade anyone with any value we'll be even worse than we are now if that's possible. And letting the man rebuild the team that created this mess isn't a particularly attractive option either. The Cubs suck right now...and probably will for a long time. There is no way out of this mess except to start over completely, with a whole new front office, minor league operation, and manager and coaches. And that takes years.
  21. Barrett took exception to getting bowled over while standing on home plate? Face it, he's never blocked the plate in his life and had no idea that could happen to him. I know this is a Cubs board and everyone is pro Cubs but come on...it was good hardnosed baseball by AJ and had it been turned around and Barrett did the same thing to AJ at the plate everyone here would be cheering the great play by Barrett. Unless AJ has eyes in the back of his head there is no way he knew exactly where the ball was, the catcher was blocking the plate and AJ plowed him over. Good play. I still have visions in my head of Barrett standing up while Roy Oswalt was standing in the batters box and Barrett, with shin guards and a chest protector and a catchers mask on, wants to talk a little smack to little skinny Roy Oswalt. Pathetic.
  22. Hendry better get Dusty signed to that extension while the Cubs are on fire!
  23. What do you mean alter your life? If games 6 and 7 were tough to swallow, then you had some sort of emotional investment in the game. Which means you would have derived some pleasure in seeing them win and going to the World Series. And I don't think I asked you if you were satisfied without seeing a world series. You actually asked me if I've ever gotten any happiness out of the Cubs (which would insinuate that you have). You also accused me of searching for things to complain about, to which I replied you don't have to search to find reasons to complain about their current situation, unless, for some reason, you enjoy the current situation. I like the Cubs. You seem to like the Cubs. I don't even know where this conversation is going. I think the conversation is going the direction you steered it when you called goony's evil twin out by saying:
  24. 2 2/3 IP 86 pitches 7 walks 1 K 6 hits 9 runs - all earned Feels stiff the next day. Goes on DL for rest of year. Signs with Texas in off season. Wins the next 5 Cy Young awards while leading Texas to 3 World Series titles. Is inducted into HOF on first ballot.
  25. I'll believe it when I see it. :D
