  1. The guy will probably throw a shutout in his first BP session.... Why couldn't they just let Hill do it like he does to the rest of the NL?
  2. This would be a better choice than Dusty. http://web.syr.edu/~cjbryzgo/monkey%20smile.jpg
  3. How would you like to have the two runs back Dusty and Jones cost us earlier?
  4. The score should be 4-0. Thanks to Dusty and Jones it's 3-1.
  5. Jones scores a touchdown and then spikes the ball.
  6. Another decision by Dusty that probably cost us a run if Pierre steaks, Cedeno moves him to 3rd and he scores on the Walker groundball.
  7. I hate sac bunts with Pierre on first.
  8. Did I black out or did Pierre just walk?
  9. Jose Macias, not once but twice, the 2nd time with a raise. Nefi not once but twice, the 2nd time with a BIG raise. Glendon Rusch, not once but twice, the 2nd time wiht a BIG raise. Bynum. Mabry. Lenny Harris. O'Leary. The list goes on.
  10. Hopefully Wood brings his bat with him. Depending on the lineup in his starts he should probably be hitting cleanup. :P
  11. So is yesterdays game the start of the 2006 collapse? :) I've noticed the only time Barrett confronts someone is when he has his full catchers battle gear on. 8)
  12. INteresting tidbit from last night: More Barry being Barry
  13. Agree with most of your points. I believe it is very rare when a manager wins a game for his team. On the other hand it is very possible for a manager to lose games and Dusty is King of this department. The combination of a bad GM anbd a bad manager makes this team doubly frustrating with not much hope in sight. There is just no excuse for this team having Bynum, Perez, Rusch, Hairston, Mabry, and Blanco on this team. Out of that group the best hitter is the pitcher.
  14. Why? I've never understood why people do that. Did the umpire change his mind because of it? Any fan that throws any object on the field should be ejected from the stadium. Cups included.
  15. With Sheffield and Matsui both on the DL I'll bet the Yankees don't stand pat like you know who.
  16. And Mabry's OBP is .237 against righties.
  17. that sure as heck would be nice...cuz i'm sure they have a life size cut up of Dusty that he will remove a section of clothing off after every win. C'mon dudes, if you win 90 games man you can see dusty naked! of course the wristbands stay on no matter what That's a pretty disturbing picture.
  18. That would be Casey Stengel talking about his 1962 Mets. http://quote.webcircle.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?position=Manager&page=2
  19. Dusty ain't going anywhere.
  20. So what could we get for Neifi, Bynum, Hairston, Mabry, Jones, and Pierre? :D
  21. I think it's a good move if they did it to bring him up and let him play. Any move that keeps Hairston, Neifi, and Bynum out of the lineup can't be bad...unless he under performs those three guys which will be really hard to do.
  22. Someone will call you a pessimist instead of a realist if you give up on a team that is 15 games out with 16 to go because mathematically it's still possible. I just don't think it's good to have a guy pitching that is injured, especially a guy that can't stay healthy when he is pitching and he isn't injured. And I don't care what the doctor said. If you are pitching you are risking injury and if you are pitching injured you are really pushing your luck. There was just very little to gain and a whole lot to lose by pitching Wood out of the bullpen.
  23. With the offensive outburst yesterday I see them getting shutout the next 3 games.
  24. If you are going to sac bunt, why put in a guy who's never successfully laid one down in his career? I would have much rather seen Maddux brought in to that situation if you're 100% sure you're going to sacrifice bunt. Bynum sucks. His skills suck. His fundamentals suck. I don't understand why he is in the Major Leagues. I honestly think at least half the people on this board would be more valuable to the Cubs than Bynum. At least I can catch an easy fly ball and lay down a bunt. Someone had to take the spot of Macias. :D
  25. I can't blame Hendry this year. Two of his top 3 starters haven't even pitched yet, and we don't even know if/when they will. So it's not really a 100 million dollar team nor a very talented one, despite the names we control. This year is just a continuing downward spiral from the previous two. Hendry resigned Neifi for two years. Signed Rusch for two years. He traded for Bynum? He traded for Hairston whom, I'd never have thought possible, has sunk below Neifi in the talent department. He was trying his hardest to trade Todd Walker (imagine this team without Walker...shudder). Jones, Pierre... Imagine this team if he would have seriously went after Tejada and Beltran in the free agent market after the 03 and 04 season. Yes, Beltran had adown year last year but he's looking pretty good lately for the Mets. Beltran will never be worth 2/3 of what he is making. Tejada I agree with. Sometimes you just have to pay the piper and overpay to fill a need. If you had a choice between Beltran in CF and Pierre which would you go with. And beside if they had paid for Beltran maybe they couldn't afford the contracts given out to Rusch, Neifi, and Jones. Win Win...
