  1. Eckstein walked? Now but the two guys before him did. without Eckstein's single that run doesn't score Oh I'm sorry. Those two walks before Eckstein were great.
  2. Eckstein walked? No but the two guys before him did.
  3. Hey Dusty...see what walks do when you take them?
  4. Cardinal announder on the ARAMN DP ball: What a GREAT play by Rolen. WTF???
  5. We're going to regret these missed opportunities.
  6. I'm really tired of hearing the Cardinals announcers bring up the homerun Pujols hit off Lidge in the NLCS. They think it was the greatest homerun in the history of the world. It won a game. Big deal, they lost the next one and it turned out to mean nothing. Shut up already about it!!!
  7. I don't think there was a 3-0 count on Luna. I just looked at Gameday again. You are correct. 2-1 count. My fault. That's what I thought it was but I've been known to be wrong occasionally. :)
  8. I don't think there was a 3-0 count on Luna. indeed there was Really? Well now, that was stupid. I'll bet Tony about had a heart attack.
  9. I don't think there was a 3-0 count on Luna.
  10. Earl Weaver's Fourth Law: "If you play for one run, that's all you'll get." Weaver's Fifth Law: "Don't play for one run unless you know that run will win a ballgame." http://danagonistes.blogspot.com/2005/04/wisdom-of-weaver.html Well, I guess it worked to perfection then.
  11. Blanco laughs at your assertion. As does Glendon.
  12. I know the reasoning behind the sac bunt. I just don't like it in the 3rd inning of a game. It takes you out of the possible big inning and you get one lousy run. One run isn't going to win this game.
  13. We really need to get something here. We can't let him off the hook yet again.
  14. Is Don Baylor managing the Cubs again. Sac bunt in the 3rd?
  15. Glendon will homer in his first AB! Would have been nice to have had a guy or two on base for it.
  16. Can we ask how much a brick set you back?
  17. Sullivan is probably just using the formula: Take the Cubs best guess and add 2 to 4 weeks.
  18. It's because they are going for the prized almighty strikeout which, in a lot of Cubs players and coaches eyes, is a lot more valuable than a groundout to 2B. A strikeout is not more valuable than a groundout to the 2B (except in certain circumstances). However, a strikeout is significantly more valuable that allowing the ball to be put in play. While I'll agree there are times when a pitcher needs a strikeout, I'll take an inning with 3 outs made via groundball or flyout on 6 pitches than a 47 pitch inning with 3 K's and 3 walks.
  19. It's because they are going for the prized almighty strikeout which, in a lot of Cubs players and coaches eyes, is a lot more valuable than a groundout to 2B.
  20. The problem there is that Eyechart can only play 1B. And he hits like a pitcher. Which means it will probably happen.
  21. I wonder where Morrissey gets his rumors? Take it for what it is worth: Apr 20 According to The Chicago Tribune's Rick Morrissey, rumors are popping up that the Chicago Cubs could acquire 1B Doug Mientkiewicz from the Kansas City Royals to fill the void left by 1B Derrek Lee (wrist) being out two to three months. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5775/news
