  1. In that case: Howry has a brain. Farnsworth doesn't. Howry.
  2. ok Seriously, what are you talking about with the title of this thread? Wondering the same thing. What's the connection between the two? Farnsworth hasn't played with the Cubs since 2004. 2006 is Howry's first year with the Cubs. It was Novoa we traded Farnsworth for. I'm confused.
  3. Sometimes they will hold the appeal when the team is in NY. Sometimes they will bring the player to NY on an off day. Sometimes Watson will go to the player. I think the suspension starts immediately upon the decision of the appeal being made.
  4. So they are pretty bad either way. However, we're undefeated when Soto starts this year. :D
  5. Oh gods no, this lineup is terrible. Starting with the top. There is no reason why Walker shouldn't be leading off or in the 2 hole, along with Murton somewhere up there. Pierre and Womack need to be way down on the order. (Preferably off it completely, but we wont see that) I'd much rather see Womack in there than Neifi. Sounds crazy but I would like to see a lineup like this for a week and see how it goes: Murton Womack Walker Aram Jones Barrett Cedeno Pierre Pitcher Pierre could bunt Cedeno over so the pitcher can knock him in.
  6. Technically he was taking illegal drugs without a prescription so maybe he should be thrown in prison.
  7. I will remember Memorial Day 2006 for years. If felt like the Cubs won a World Series. (Gotta find your joy somewhere! :D )
  8. Not even the Cubs could figure how to lose this one now could they?
  9. Runner on 2B, 1 out. The umps ruled the homer a double.
  10. I am NOT going to feel guilty that we had a wrong call go our way.
  11. Personally I agree with you but Selig is no Giamatti.
  12. These days no lead is safe. We need every run we can get.
  13. Now why would you want a guy that gets on base hitting 1st?
  14. CUBS are 6-2 when they hit at least 2 home runs.... 12-29 when they don't Go CUBS !! Cubs are 18-0 when they outscore their opponents...0-31 when they dont. :D
  15. Thank you! If Bonds was on the Cubs, people on this site would have such a diffrent attitude on Barry. If you support Sosa especially, then how could you hate Bonds? Ludacris. Best hitter of our generation, people. Big difference between Sosa and Bonds. First off, Sosa's not breaking any records. Second, and most importantly, Sosa is a suspected cheater, while Bonds is a known cheater. Bonds is heralded as the greatest hitter of our generation because of what he has done from 2001 and forward. That's going back to when he was 36. The 4 greatest offensive seasons of his career occured after he turned 36. He was outstanding before that, but nothing he did in his prime was ever considered Ruthian. It's been everything he did after he started juicing in 99 or 2000. I'll give you that nothing he did before 98 was ever considered Ruthian. But Bonds was the greatest player of our generation before steroids and the steriods issue makes people forget about this. If Bonds wouldn't have taken steroids, he would have been a first ballot HOFer anyway. The guy was the quintessiential five tool player. He would have ended up with over 500 HR's and over 500 SB's. He wouldn't have 715 career HR's but make no mistake about it, Bonds was a great player without steroids. Also, I read Howard Bryant's "Juicing The Game" a couple months ago and there was a line that went something like "steroids turn a average player into a good player and a good player into a great player. But who knows what they would do to a great player." Well, I think we know and Bonds is the example. I agree that without his use of performance-enhancing drugs, Bonds would have been a fist-ballot HOFer. I also believe that his use of performance-enhancing drugs is cheating and should be punished by not receiving the honor of admission to the HOF. There must be consequence for his cheating. I can't even imagine what would happen to him if he is found to have juiced 1999-2004 or whatever. (Solid proof) I dunno what would happen, would he make the Hall of Fame? Palmeiro might have checked his ticket out after last years scandal...but Bonds has been such an incredible player, it would be hard to kick him out. Pete Rose was pretty good too.
  16. That was yesterday he wasn't available. His wife had a baby...yesterday.
  17. A double switch without Neifi? Is he still alive?
  18. Eyre is not looking very good. I expect his arm will fall off soon. Tying run to the plate.
  19. I can see Womack having a good streak, Lee coming back, Hendry trading Walker so Womack can play 2B, Womack getting hurt and Neifi getting the starting 2B job. Nice homerun Walker.
  20. He looked good. 85 pitches. More ground balls than fly balls. He hit 95 on the gun a few times and was 2-2 at the plate with an RBI.
  21. Oddly enough, pitching looks easy when they throw strikes.
  22. Not to worry. He walked a guy after being ahead 0-2.
  23. YIKES!!! Aardsma does not fill me with confidence.
