  1. Pierre looked like he slid too early and he slid so far he was hardly moving when he finally readhed the bag.
  2. Why isn't anyone bunting on Edmonds with the pulled abdominal muscle and make him move around at an unfamilar position?
  3. The stupid throw cancels out the nice play.
  4. I'd rather have Nevin starting at 1B and Walker at 2B even though they are facing a RHP. Why trade for a guy and then sit him on the bench?
  5. I'd rather everyone stay home and rest for 3 days. If we have to send someone send Blanco and his .070 BA.
  6. From the link:
  7. Haven't seen this posted. Excuse me if it has been discussed. Pitcher takes another step to rejoin Cubs
  8. You knew? How about the numbers for the next lotto drawing?
  9. Didn't they push him back two days? From Sunday to Tuesday?
  10. Thank you.
  11. I'd hate to see the DH in the NL right now. We'd lose some of our better bats if our pitchers didn't hit.
  12. Appeals date next up for Barrett, Anderson
  13. I'm all for it and have never defended Hendry in overpaying for bad bench players. I just think $12 million plus for a little over half a season for a 43 year old pitcher is not a good baseball decision, for the Cubs or any team. He's not superman and no one defies the effects of age forever. He didn't pitch a whole heck of a lot, but he had a 2.08 ERA and 0.81 WHIP at the WBC. Not too bad for an old geezer. Hey, we shall see. Seeing as how it's not the Cubs I'm sure it will work out just fine.
  14. I don't know about Billy. He's got very limited coaching history and has never really shown much desire to keep doing it. The great ones almost always fail when trying to teach their own craft. Example: Ted Williams.

  16. This is the atttitude the Cubs Front Office always has, and it bites them every time. They would always rather go for quantity over quality. He'll make $13 million for the rest of the year, or roughly equal to the salaries the Cubs are paying to: Hairston ((2.3) Perez (2.5) Rusch (2.75) Pierre (5.75) So would you rather pay $13 million for one great player, or $13.4 for four awful ones? Well that only works if you are planning on playing with only 21 players on the roster. I know they vastly overpaid for their bench but you do still have to pay players 22 through 25.
  17. When he is added to the major league roster, he gets a one-year contract worth $22,000,022 - his uniform number is 22. Because he won't be playing the full season, he gets only a prorated percentage of that, which would come to about $12.25 million if he rejoins Houston in late June. The tentative goal is to have him start against the Minnesota Twins on June 22 - if he's put on the big league roster on that day, he would earn $12,632,307. Oops...missed that part. Still too much though.
  18. That is just ridiculous to pay a guy $22 million for a little more than half a season no matter how good he is. I hope he breaks his leg in his first start.
  19. Lets see, $200 / 25 players = $8 per year per player. Not even Neifi would go for that.
  20. Correct, but they did have Everett, Taveras, Burke, Lamb, Bruntlett, Vizcaino, Rodriguez, Astacio, and Springer. We will not come back and make the WS, but they really weren't much better off. LOL...yeah but I have the benefit of hindsight. There guys got it done while ours most likely will weigh the team down like a barge anchor. It's usually a pretty safe bet that things won't go right for the Cubs.
