  1. I'll never understand why they pitched to Lee there but I'm glad they did.
  2. I think they should take the same approach with him that the Astros have taken with Everett. His defense is pretty good, his bat just needs to catch up now. He's still only 23 so he's got time to develop. I hope you're right. Could be looking at another washout with the coaching staff working with him though. Is it a coincidence our younger players get worse the longer they around Baker & Co.?
  3. He'd better not end up being hurt. It took him about a minute before he was ready to get back to the plate, and he didn't look that comfortable going down to first. Ha! I was just kidding about it but it wouldn't surprise me if he was hurt.
  4. Prior back to the DL after fouling that pitch off his leg.
  5. All of the pitchers under the direction of Rothschild shy away from the strike zone. It's pretty good when our minor league coaches have to undo what our major league coaches do to our players.
  6. If only we had some guy that could show them the benefit of not walking people. We could call that guy a pitching coach. Then maybe we could have another guy that could teach our hitters to not swing at bad pitches and take some those walks the other pitcher is offering. We could call that guy a hitting coach. (I thought about calling that guy a walking coach but Dusty would never stand for that.)
  7. Today is the first game of the rest of the season and we are 0-0. Go CUBS!
  8. Great article. I know he'd never take the job but I can dream.
  9. I agree bobbyd. I don't trust them and this is after putting my faith in Hendry for his whole tenure. IMO....He just does not know how to build a winning baseball team and I'd like to see him proactive but my faith has been shaken way too much for me to believe he'd do it the right way. I would like to see a change and let them dimantle this team the way they see fit and not have to pick up any more of the MacPhail/Hendry mess. Agreed. I wonder what Dallas Green is up to these days? :)
  10. At least there was a really good reason those teams sucked in the late 70's. The Wrigleys were just cheap. To suck this bad while spending a good chunk of change is mind boggling.
  11. \:D/ To be the worst team in baseball with a $95 million dollar payroll would be just awesome!
  12. I've never seen a Cub called safe at 2nd on the phantom touch the base play. It's a conspiracy. :D
  13. I fail to see how that wasn't a bone-headed play. If it were Jock doing it everyone here would be calling for his head. I think the point writing about that play was to show that Corey had enough confidence to attempt going to third on a great defensive CF. There were worries about Corey's confidence after the treatment of coaches and the fans in Chicago. I think that's a pretty poor example to use when he tries to "decoy" the CF and then gets nailed in the process. :D It was also used to show that when he made a mistake, the Baltimore coaches praised his aggressiveness. A play like that in Chicago would have yielded a solid amount of criticism. There is agressive and then there is stupid. Slowing down to decoy the CF and then getting thrown out by him is stupid, not agressive. And if the Oriole coaches praised him for that then they are dumber than our own brain dead coaches.

  16. "the Cubs swept the Wild Card Pittsburgh Pirates, in their first year in the NL East after a realignment resulting from the Florida Marlins' move to Las Vegas"
  17. I liked the shot of the guy face down on the top of the dugout after Dempster gave up the 3 run homer. Pretty much summed up how I felt.
  18. They will NEVER get it until tickets go unsold and they are left holding the worthless little piece of cardboard.
  19. Trust me, you'll lose the next 4 in a row. WRONG!! I trailed 3-1 early on but kept pecking away and went ahead 5-3 on a 3 run HR by Aram. Demp nailed down te save after I got an insurance run on an RBI double by Walker. 7-4 final. Greg Maddux gets the win Chicago Cubs World Champs! When is the parade?
  20. Fired? Firing someone implies something is wrong. Bean counters are working overtime counting the dollars the Cubs bring in. Having said that, the only one with the possibility of getting fired is the trainer. He's the one keeping Dusty's horses away.

  22. I've felt that way too for awhile now that they've already signed him and have just been waiting for a hot streak to announce it. The cool thing is that with this team that hot streak will never arrive. What a dilemma for Hendry! :)
  23. I have to agree. He is not overpowering and he walks too many people.
