  1. If Marmol had any kind of offensive ballclub behind him, he could have won today. A rough first, but he settled in and pitched well. (a sentence you would NEVER see describing Rusch) Anything less than an ERA of 0.00 will land the kid back in the minors. With Glendon it's just "well he didn't hit his spots today" and then send him out there again 5 days later for another good beating. :( I truly despise Dusty Baker.
  2. Sending anyone out not named Glendon is downright lunacy. He not only is the worst pitcher on the staff but he's the worst pitcher in baseball...at any level. There is no way way that Marmol, Aardsma, Guzman, Marshall or anyone else has less upside to being on the major league roster than Glendon Rusch. This team is going nowhere. There is no logical reason in the world why these guys can't get their innings in at the major league level. So what if they struggle? We lose a game? Big flippin' deal. At least with the kids there is something to look forward to. With Glendon there is none. Plus the Cubs would probably save about $5 million on the post game food spread! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  3. Dusty is the manager. It could Marshall.
  4. I'd suggest that if they stick Murton in THIS platoon it would mean that they're on the same path as others they have given up on. I would still opine that if they had gotten or get a high OPS corner OF a platoon or Murton with Jones would be optimal for the team AND Murton's more gradual and solid progression. Sadly, Hendry did not sign Jock for 3 years to platoon.
  5. If they stick Murton in a platoon it is a clear signal that they have given up on him. I'd say it's an attempt to get his numbers up so they can trade him by the deadline for an A ball pitcher you've never heard of before and you won't hear of again. It sucks for the fans but it's probably the best thing that could happen to Murtons career.

I just figured he ate so much that he bursted at the seams. I was hoping he had an accident with a chain saw.
  7. 1-0? Okay, let's review what we know....... 25 MPH winds blowing out Gas can lefty on the hill Power hitting, all righty hitting team facing gas can lefty Cubs playing on WGN 1-0? I'll take that bet. :D It is the Cubs though. The worst thing for this team would be Glendon to have a stellar performance. And I could see the Cubs being shutout in those conditions too. In reality though I'll be very surprised to see Glendon get out of the 3rd inning and wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it out of the first inning.
  8. Move Neifi to SS and put Mabry at 3rd and Cedeno to the bench as he has too much talent to be included in this group of slugs. Maybe Pagan will be back in time to replace Jones in RF too?
  9. Come on, lets don't Rusch to judgement. 8) With our luck he'll throw 9 innings of shutout baseball to solidify his spot in the rotation ahead of Marshall, Marmol, and Guzman which will make them expendable to trade before the deadline. Oh yeah, they'll still lose 1-0 in the tenth. :P
  10. I didn't know we could make trades with the independent leagues. Enrique's in the Red Sox system. Currently sucking at AAA. So we have a shot? :D
  11. I doubt if you have to worry about it long as one of them is sure to be back on the DL within a very short time.
  12. And they think Barretts appeal will be Friday so he'll likely to be out for the whole series. If I were a Tigers fan I'd be feeling pretty good about the weekend.
  13. Walker has been out of the lineup because a deal is close to being finalized. Walker for Enrique Wilson. Wilson is more of the ideal player that Hendry and Dusty would like to see playing for the Cubs. He hardly ever clogs up the bases.
  14. I agree. He got progressively worse the longer he was around Baker & Co. and since he left he is getting progressively better at getting on base whether it's via walk, bunt, or not K'ing.
  15. Same thing was said about Patterson last year yet the Cubs found someone that was. :P
  16. Well, we do know everyone wants to play for Dusty Baker. :P
  17. We have a winner......I'll have faith in him when he does it in back-to-back seasons. Hopefully, Hendry's learned his lesson. I'll have faith in him when he can make it through a spring training just once. I am, however, hoping for the best from him and not hating him.
  18. The guy has been a breath of fresh air for my fantasy team and I demand the Angels keep him at the MLB level!
  19. This thread is more depressing than nostalgic. Anyone remember that time we won a world series title?
  20. Poor Corey. :( No kidding... With Derrek Lee still at my 1b slot, Aubrey Huff, Dmitri Young, and Matsui in my OF slots (now Corey in for Young and Matthews in for Godzilla), Chavez at 3rd (hammie tear),4 of my 5 pitchers sent back to the minors, etc.. Im starting to think my fantasy curse is for real. Might I suggest you pick up Neifi and Glendon and take one for the team?
  21. I'd prefer he were in an electric chair.
  22. Dusty Baker is one of the most stubborn folks I've ever seen. He will refuse to throw in the towel on something he believes should work, even though all evidence illustrates the failure. :x I agree. He and Hendry have dug themselves a large hole. The only way out is to admit they've been wrong all this time and I don't see either man being big enough to accept that fact.
  23. I wonder how much of it is just pride and stubborness with Hendry and Baker? It seems the more criticism they get, the more they dig their heels in to keep doing it their way like signing Rusch and Neifi to multi year contracts and batting Neifi 2nd. It's really scary what this team would be like had Hendry found a taker for Walker.
  24. Yeah, like that's going to be a problem for the Cubs in the post season. Maybe the Cubs could equip their base runners with them also and Dusty could call them up and tell them when to hold up on a routine flyball. The possibilities are endless.
  25. Have a drawing before the game everyday and pick someone out of the stands. :P
