  1. I would say it's already had an effect. He had 31 extra base hits all of last year. He already has 4 through 5 games.
  2. He runs about 195 to 205 depending on who you ask after Camp Colvin this off season.
  3. I'm no fan of Bogans, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but I do want to give him props for last night. He had an awesome game. He hit two of his three open three point shots and completely shut down Allen. Seven freaking points for Allen!
  4. Weird. I thought Chen was a lefty too.
  5. Johnson had 20.5ppg, 8.6rpg, and 2.3bpg. Sullinger had 17.2ppg, 10.2rpg, and 0.5bpg. I don't want to dismiss the value of rebounding, but Johnson clearly had the better season. Sure, Sullinger had a better FG%, but Johnson was playing away from the basket a lot compared to Sullinger who was pretty much in the paint. I just don't see how you can say the best player in the Big Ten was without much doubt Sullinger. That's clearly not the case.
  6. That's why I guessed Mathes has a shot. But yeah, Rusin did occur to me. I'm not sure the Cubs want to add Mathes to the 40 man roster. If he bombs and is demoted or is replaced by Wells in two weeks, it would seem like a real waste. Rusin makes more sense as he could stay on the 40 man regardless of how long he's up for. It's likely he'll get a couple of opportunities in the next few years if he were to blow this one.
  7. Anyone think Chris Rusin has an outside chance of being called up? There are two open spots on the 40 right now and the soft-tossing no name lefty formula has worked against the Cubs in the past. Maybe it could work in their favor for once?
  8. Something like that. It nothing aginst Russell, but hes a relief pitcher. Its what he is. as much as it sucks to lose 2 starting pitchers who happened to look great to the DL, they should use the opportunity to give someone a look see who has a future as a starter. After all, thats how Randy Wells ended up in our rotation. The only guy that really makes sense is McNutt, and I think it's way too early for him to get a start at the big league level. Carpenter isn't stretched out, so he'll only be brought up to fill Russell's spot in the bullpen if Russell is headed to the rotation. Also, Russell came up through the system as a starter. He pitched extended innings in the spring, is already on the 40 man roster, and can swing between the starter role and bullpen. It makes a whole lot of sense for him to make a start or two.
  9. You know that Sullinger will be back and they can't steal it from him again only to give it to another less talented Purdue kid, right? I'd take Sullinger over Johnson or Hummel so fast it'd make your head spin. I have no problem picking Sullinger over Hummel as the favorite for Big 10 Player of the Year next year. I do have a problem with people implying that Johnson stole the award from Sullinger this year. Especially given the disparity in points per game and blocks per game; Sullinger had much more talent around him and wasn't as important to his team as Johnson was to Purdue; finally, while Johnson's and Sullinger's numbers were about even when the Big Ten schedule started, Johnson pulled away after that point. Sullinger was a great player this year and a deserving All American. He was not as good as Johnson though.

  11. Scholarship offers to Gary Harris and Ronnie Johnson (Hammons too?). Lots of people seem to think that if Harris wants to come to Purdue - room will be made. Plus there is the Barlow situation. He's one mistake away from being gone - and if he does act up again, that WOULD be fine with me. He's been given a lot of chances and if he's a distraction again he needs to go. I keep forgetting Molock is coming in 2012. I thought there was still a scholarship available.
  12. Lawson has an achilles tendon injury he's recovering from. He's supposed to be ready, but I see them red shirting him anyway partly to get extra time to heal and partly because of the return of Hummel (Lawson committed before we knew Hummel would be playing in 2011-2012, obviously). The 5 is going to be a lot of Carroll with Marcius backing him up. Bade could get some time there if Carroll gets into foul trouble. That's how I see it anyway. GBI just posted an article yesterday saying Lawson is progressing way ahead of schedule. Not sure why I said knee before, yeah it's an achilles injury. Obviously Painter will want to have a look see in person. I think Hale will be a good shot blocker too. We really need a big in either 12 (if someone leaves) or 13 too. I'm really wondering if Bade will walk. He can still take a year off and play two years at a smaller school where he'll actually play. I think Lawson and Hale will surpass him by the end of this coming year (if not much sooner) and he'll be the 4th 4 or 3rd 5 in the rotation. He might just be content getting a Purdue education and being along for the ride though. I will be pissed if Painter starts Creaning players. Bade is not very good at basketball but he seems to be a good kid and Painter offered him the scholarship. There's nothing to indicate he'll dump Bade or any other player.

  14. Not happening. Nate Miles has "backed off". I posted the article on the previous page.
  15. NCAA didn't want to get stuck with another embarrassing Kansas situation where their forced to recognize a championship that should be revoked I just love the stuff this guy supposedly wrote. It's so obvious some PR person with UConn wrote it to him and told him to copy and paste or he wouldn't get his money.
  16. Looks like UConn will be able to enjoy thier championship worry-free too. They must have made a nice under the table pay day to Miles. http://www.courant.com/sports/uconn-men/hc-nate-miles-uconn-0405-20110404,0,1323270.story
  17. I also heard the UConn player yell what the [expletive].
  18. I have zero pity for Mizzou. Been sick to my stomach all freaking day about this.
  19. It's going to be weird cheering for Tennessee basketball. I'll admit, it'll be kinda nice to have fans of another team rooting for us instead of against us. Still hate to see Pearl gone, however. Do you have any thoughts on Martin as a head coach? I realize he wasn't a HC at Purdue, but you'll likely have more insight than I do anyway. He had a big hand in recruiting most of Purdue's higher profile players before leaving including the big 4 in 2007.
  20. You do realize his 2013 class is going to rival the 2007 class right? The 2012 class is nothing to sneeze at either. Really, he struggled recruiting 2008 and 2009. LewJack, Byrd, Smith, and Barlow are useful role players but that's about it maybe with the exception of LewJack who could be the #2 scorer next year. Bade is garbage, Hart doesn't do much for me and the jury is out on Marcius. 2010 he had two 4 stars and Carroll (a serviceable role player) - 2011 brings two athletic 6' 7" - 6' 8" forwards that Purdue is desperately in need of. He's had a peak of four 4 star players on the available roster. In 2013 he'll have 7 available to him and maybe 8 depending on what happens with the remaining 2013 scholarship (obviously that's if he stays). That's counting Lawson as a 3 star - I think some services have him as a 4 (and I think Hale is underrated). He's recruiting just fine now. In summary, Purdue had four 4 star recruits each of the last two years. Next year they're going to have four. 2012 they'll have five and 2013 five with one scholarship available . In his entire tenure at Purdue, he will not have had a 5 star player up until Kendall Stephens steps foot on the court in 2013.
  21. Not going to happen. If Purdue loses Painter, the basketball program won't exist... because I'm going to blow it up. The whole [expletive] University. So... make sure Weber pays a visit to West Lafayette within 24 hours of any announcement of Painter to Mizzou.
  22. Much like that Lincoln guy who proclaimed to twitter about Anderson going to Arkansas, this guy might end up right, but it won't be because he had any information. Painter is meeting with Mizzou tomorrow. I've heard he won't meet with them till Wednesday.
  23. I think you're really underselling Painter.
  24. It feels like a huge elaborate joke is being played on me. It's not a funny joke either.
  25. Where exactly are you hearing this from? I saw one person on Purdue's rival.com boards that posted this information and that reports are "surfacing all over the internet". Also, one Missouri sports blog is reporting that they have inside sources that say this will be announced on Tuesday. Color me sceptical. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Sports-Horn/161039770604007#!/pages/The-Sports-Horn/161039770604007?sk=info It's funny. The last few years have brought about this ridiculous reporting of everyone taking a stab at the story so they can take credit for making the scoop. Whenever a topic pops up like this, everone starts winging their darts at the board in hopes of hitting a bullseye. This is a pretty good breakdown of it.... http://www.theboilingpoints.com/2011/03/painter-missouri-situation-still-sticky.html Thanks. This at least links a couple of sources together. It's going to be a long couple of days...
