  1. Are you talking about Jay Simpson? What makes him a two star prospect in your book and why does Rivals have him rated as 4 stars? Also, is Raphael Davis a sub 4 star prospect in your eyes too?
  2. IU will win the rematch in Bloomington. :P That honestly wouldn't shock me. Me either. As a side note, can someone please teach D.J. Byrd how to effectively pass the ball? I've never seen a crisp pass from him, and I don't believe I've ever seen him use a bounce pass. I think he's definitely improved as a player, but that's one part of his game that is horribly bad. I've actually been impressed with his passing this year. He has as many assists per game as Barlow, and he doesn't run point (obviously). I was actually surprised to see this assessment on him. I think there's plenty of ways he could improve his game, but passing wouldn't rank high on my list.
  3. We really should've beaten them. Even with the Sullinger protection I never watch anything outside of Purdue basketball up until the Big Ten Tourney. Has Sullinger been getting away with the elbow hook all year? He did it twice to Johnson last night and got and-one both times.
  4. it's a NECKTIE you [expletive] meathead. This looks like a meathead on meathead interaction. If my boss tells me to take off a tie, I'm taking it off the first time he asks. I certainly don't let him challenge me on it in front of customers/employees and still refuse. According to this, he was on the showroom floor when he was finally fired: http://mobile.chicagotribune.com/wap/news/text.jsp?sid=289&nid=36276841&cid=16273&scid=-1&ith=2&title=Latest+From+Breaking+News+Center
  5. I can't wait to see all these douche bag NFL analysts that have been ripping Cutler with their foot in their mouths. Then again, they will probably either comment on how that's not enough of an injury or will just pretend they never said it.
  6. Can't the Bears pretty much cut Taylor with close to not salary liability? I thought that's how his contract was structured so that all his guaranteed money was this past year. Not that I think Taylor is terrible, but they can get his production from a young draftee in the 3rd or 4th round. I'm wondering if Kruetz will sign a low-pay 1 or 2 year contract. If those happen, I think they'll have plenty of money to spend on one impact player. If they can snap up a vet left tackle and fill their other holes in the draft, that would be pretty good. If they could also grab a Vincent Jackson, that would be fantastic.
  7. I was at Purdue as an undergrad during the final years of the Keady era, and I think you're making this up just as a means of justification for a bad experience (or maybe a couple) that you've experienced watching your team play at Mackey. During Keady's final years, the students were pissed and wanted him out. I think it was ridiculous and at the time I thought Keady was doing a decent job. More than that, I thought his reputation spoke well enough for him, and there was plenty of other students that agreed with me there. Almost a JoePa sort of opinion of "he's earned the right to correct this". Regardless, the one thing I will say that even in down years the Purdue students and fan base in general were always passionate. They may have disagreed with Keady staying or going, but they were always passionate. They also always supported the players. Guys like Willie Deane, Kenneth Lowe, and Carl Landry may not mean much to you, but those guys were icons on the West Lafayette campus during those years. The bottom line is it's unfair to generalize me and my like in that way. It's presumptive, condescending, and uncalled for.
  8. I think it was pretty bad all around. Am I going to say the Bears should have won if the officiating was better? No. Packers won the game, end of story. However, there were a few calls that really cost the Bears big in terms of opportunities. The Cutler interception at the end of the half was a little unnerving. The ball hit the ground and josteled. They had a former NFL rules official in he booth that said he believed the call would be overturned and ruled incomplete. It was not. Not a huge missed opportunity because the Bears still needed I think 20 or 30 yards to get in field goal position. The obvious incomplete interception when the ball clearly hit the ground and was ruled incomplete by one official, but they ended up ruling complete. It forced Smith to use a challenge which caused him to be hesitant on throwing the flag on the near Hanie to Knox TD (I'm still not sure Knox got in or not, I couldn't tell by the replay so it probably doesn't get overturned). This was pretty inocuous as Taylor ran it in without a problem anyway. The big goof to me was the intentional grounding. It was clear that there were two receivers in the trajectory of a pass where Hanie was hit while throwing. I was appalled by that call. The Bears ended up converting on that series though, so again it didn't have a huge impact on the game, although it did take away 10 yards from their final drive. Again, the bad officiating didn't have a direct impact on the outcome and it did cost the Bears some opportunities, but it was bad. There's no doubting that. I know I'll get responses from you guys that there were bad call both ways, but I'm obviously going to point out the ones that went against my team after a losing effort. It's a coping mechanism.
  9. This is all you had to say. If you would have stuck to this, you wouldn't have had personal attacks in response. You had to be a dick about it though. Don't feign surprise, you know why you came in here and you knew what the response would be.
  10. Settle down. I don't think there's anyone that saw those plays in real time and didn't at least consider it questionable. Both correct calls, but I had to see a slow-mo replay to make a definitive judgment.
  11. Or why they played for a last second shot, down by 3 (having the ball with 25 seconds on the clock). Or why DJ Byrd took the crucial 3 (or why he was even on the floor over some other outside shooting options). Moore killed us shooting 2-14. When it's not your night, give it to someone else. He was painful to watch. Purdue clearly doesn't match up well with teams that have the size of Minny. That being said, they still should've won last night. They were collapsing on Johnson at the end of the game before the ball even got into his hands. Jackson tried to take it to the hole as a result, but he's just too short and the help defense shoved the ball back down his throat. Purdue didn't initially play for the last shot. I think Painter wanted them to try to go for a quick hoop with 20+ seconds go to, but whoever was handling the ball (I think it was Moore) tried to penetrate and was fronted, then just dribbled back and forth at the top of the key looking for an opening till Painter called the TO with 10 seconds left. The last play, I think Byrd was only in there to get a rebound if needed. The play was broken early and Minnesota forced it to him. He's not a terrible shooter, but I definitely would have rather had Smith, Moore, A.Johson and J.Johnson take the shot before him, in that order. Bottom line is it was very good execution by Minne and disgustingly bad execution by the Boilers. I'm disappointed, but my expectations for this team haven't been too high since Hummel went down. I'm just going to enjoy watching Johnson until the NCAA tourney and then just hope they can sneak by a couple of rounds. Final Four is a pipe dream at this point rather than expected.
  12. The high one is Boozer. I disagree, it's gotta be Korver.
  13. The initial call, I agree. I can't believe it wasn't called down by contact in real time. It was a fumble though.
  14. And this should also crown you drama queen of the forum. Not sure if serious. The defense got worked every time New England decided to try. I'm sure some of it is the snow hurting the pursuit aspect, but against good teams, they tend to bend and break. Look, the defense has proved, over the long haul that it's capable. This is unbelievable playing conditions. Everything is going the way of the Pats. I agree that if they run into this in the playoffs, it's going to be incredibly tough to win. However, it's tough to judge their performance over the whole season based off of this one game. Who knows, maybe the score is the same or more lopsided under regular conditions. We won't know unless they meet in the Superbowl. These conditions are perfect for what the Pats want to do and very detrimental to what the Bears defense wants to do. My apologies for the insult. Just a bit heated about this game.
  15. And this should also crown you drama queen of the forum. Anyone who thinks the Bears are as bad as they're playing today is chemically imbalanced. Or overly dramatic.
  16. No not really. Yes because giving up 5-8 yards consistently to good teams is a good idea. Cover 2 is reliance on luck when you cannot get a consistent pressure from your front four. Everyone knew coming into this game that Welker and Woodhead would be getting a ton of yards on the underneath crap. Let's just completely ignore the inches of snow on the field...
  17. Castro Fukudome Soto Ramirez Pena Byrd Soriano DeWitt I'm almost tempted to switch Pena and Ramirez, having three guys taking tons of walks in front of ARam would be very nice. If Fukudome gets traded. Castro Soto Pena Ramirez Byrd Colvin Soriano DeWitt
  18. Anyone else yell "HOLD ON TO IT!" as Manumaleuna plodded down the field like Lurch?
  19. Garza did a great job not giving up on the play. They only got 2 yards on the play, but it was about to go for a loss.
  20. When it involves striking a player in the back of the head, I would say so.
  21. I hope Schwartz gets fired for that call.
  22. Going for it on 4th mid field twice on a drive with over 12 minutes in the game... why did we have to get the Lions Superbowl?
  23. Any idea on what happens in the case where a team picks their own player in the rule 5 and does NOT keep him on the 25 man all year?
  24. currently?, Timmons, Willis, Hali, Wake and several other arguables I would only put Harrison, Ware, Timmons, and Willis on the same level as Briggs in terms of all around linebackers. Urlacher and Lewis are a step behind those guys. Everyone else are great pass rushers, but are not as good all around linebackers as the others IMO.
  25. They really cannot help that Robbie Hummel is made of glass. They definately have some talent, but like I thought they are missing Kramer and Grant more than most thought they would. I knew last year was their best chance to do it. You know... before Hummel went down that is.
