  1. If they're going to give him that strike zone, gl Cub hitters.
  2. You and I both know Hoyer was GM in name only for that team. Since this has become Jed's team, he hasn't even made the playoffs.
  3. Yes and I would hate it.
  4. Seems weird to extend a guy who has never made the playoffs. Though unlikely, if they somehow bombed and missed the playoffs this year wouldn't that be incredibly awkward that he was just extended.
  5. It just made him complain and campaign against other franchises that actually spent money.
  6. Emmanuel Clase is now a part of the gambling investigation with the Guardians, cross him off the list.
  7. From a new Fangraphs article with trades put together for fun https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-makes-some-deadline-trades-2025-edition/ Eovaldi is under control for 2 more years at 25M a year, but he's also old as hell(35) so I'm not sure how much you really want his age 36 and 37 season. On the other hand, he's been as good as just about anyone in the league this year. Unfortunately the previous two years he was more good than great. This has the making of one that could be a disaster, but Eovaldi unquestionably makes the rotation this year much much stronger.
  8. I think the Cubs can realistically greatly improve themselves without touching their top 4 to 5 guys, depending on where you have Alcantara. Merrill Kelly- reliable mid rotation guy, he doesn't have the big upside but he's safe and you feel just fine with him starting a playoff game. You can probably get him for maybe a Gallagher or Triantos type, I can't envision him costing much more than that. Sandy Alcantara- This is all depending on the ask. If they're willing to take a headliner of Alcantara go for it. He provides the upside Kelly doesn't so even if he falls on his face it's fine because you can get him in the lab this offseason and you still have 4 other starters who can make playoff starts not including Horton. Willi Castro- He's just such an obvious move that I'm really gonna be blown away if he doesn't end up on the Cubs. He checks all the boxes. He has lots of positional versatility and he mashes lefties. I can't imagine he gets someone in the top 10, probably more 1 in the 11-20 range and another from further out that Minnesota is high on. For reliever, I think the Cubs messed up not getting Robertson for just cash, but I'd go for Shelby Miller. He might cost you a top 10 guy, but I think it would be back end of the top 10 so maybe a Birdsell type.
  9. It's baffling. The trade for Quintana was basically equivalent in today's players to trading for Logan Webb and we'd all go nuts if we traded for Logan Webb to anchor this rotation. .
  10. 3 days to the deadline and still nothing from Jed, I'm getting ready to be underwhelmed.
  11. I think people are forgetting, based on how he pitched for the Cubs, how big a name Quintana was. The guy posted 4.9, 4.3 and 4.9 fWAR seasons before the season he was dealt to the Cubs and even in that season he posted a 4.0. That 3 year stretch put him at #8 in all of baseball, barely behind Jon Lester and ahead of such names as Cueto, Bumgarner, Hamels, Greinke and Strasburg.
  12. Baffles me that he gets paid to write and speak on a game he knows nothing about.
  13. Henderson is a top 100 prospect, who has dominated in his first 4 mlb starts. I think that is a lot of wishful thinking to find those comparable.
  14. If Logan Henderson is legitimately on the table for Suarez then I hope the Cubs are out. That's at least equal to giving up Wiggins which is just insane for 2 months of Suarez.
  15. Well that's unfortunate
  16. Well, that's a game Busch is going to want to forget.
  17. It irritates the living hell out of me that Andrew Vaughn is suddenly prime Miguel Cabrera now that he's on the Brewers. Over 1.000 OPS and more walks than strikeouts since joining them.
  18. Cardinals getting blasted again. They're definitely done.
