I mean it makes sense. At this point for 2026 he's behind all of Steele, Shota, Boyd, Taillon, Horton, Brown and Assad. If they get a controllable pitcher here he's 9th on the depth chart.
I do think he's a good bet to hang around in the majors for a while as a 4th OFer, but to put him on the same level as Caissie and Ballesteros is just unjustifiable to me.
Alcantara has never really gotten the proper love here. The can play above average defense at a premium position. He doesn't need to put up an .850 OPS to be very valuable. You get a CFer who can put up a .240/.310/.440 line and that's probably a 3.5 to 4 fWAR guy.
