  1. MLB needs to do something because Loria just completely screwed that entire town and the players.
  2. I'm so tempted to go read it, but at the same time I know that if I do I'm just going to end up annoyed and losing that much more faith in humanity.
  3. I highly doubt that. You think we'll give a 32 year-old with his injury history an extension? I don't think giving him 2-3 years after this year would be all that unrealistic. I mean it's unrealistic to expect him to pitch particularly well before the trade deadline coming off his surgery, so banking on that to make him a worthwhile trade target doesn't make much sense.
  4. I don't see this one as a flip at the deadline. I see this deal as an audition where if Baker pitches well the Cubs extend him. Given how unlikely it is that a guy coming off TJS is going to pitch well in the 1st half, that's the impression I get.
  5. And that's really the only difference between their current or age-similar values. It's a big one, but not big enough to justify both of those statements being true. Castro's bat is also viewed in a much brighter light going forward is it not?
  6. I've been saying this for a while. The guy is only under contract for 2 years at which point he's going to require a huge contract. He plays corner outfielder which is one of the easiest positions to add an impact bat. He's coming off a merely OK year. His home OPS is .200OPS above his away OPS. Plus there's always rumors of chronic shoulder issues. He's still a very good young player, but not giving multiple top prospects for that.
  7. Texas already said they aren't trading Andrus for Upton. 1) Whoops, didn't see that 2) Why the hell not? No clue, I mean Andrus is obviously very good but when you have Profar he's expendable. My only thought is maybe Profar goes to 2B because Kinsler's name has been floated as a trade candidate. I also read something where Kinsler was mentioned as going to the outfield.
  8. Texas already said they aren't trading Andrus for Upton.
  9. The Cubs suck really really really bad. They have indicated a complete lack of interest in acquiring current major league free agents. They have told us over and over that the only way they will get better is by investing heavily on prospects, both foreign and domestic, and they've come up short in that regards. How do you not understand this? How are you not understanding that getting a 1/3 of their targets is still excellent? It's ridiculous to expect them to get every single target. They were the high bidder on Puig, and they supposedly weren't even given a chance to match the A's offer to Cespedes.
  10. That may be the first time I've ever seen a check down two minute drill.
  11. Campbell you are an incredible [expletive].
  12. Campbell has no balls what so ever. Keep checking it down you putz.
  13. If you do it during an offensive penalty your team doesn't even lose yardage on your cheapshot; there's no downside at all.
  14. There is zero excuse for him to be on this team tomorrow. If he can't block then he sure as hell be able to catch and he can't even do that.
  15. Get him off this [expletive] team tonight.
  16. Quit checking down, jesus christ.
  17. Podlesh absolutely sucks this year.
  18. What was the point of the pass Campbell?
  19. Bears doing absolutely everything possible on offense to avoid winning.
  20. Nope, it's 3 and long or nothing cause that's how Tice rolls.
  21. Oh [expletive] me, game over. Jason Campbell.
  22. Question is do they sign a FA in the offseason or spend a pick on TE in the draft to replace Davis? It's going to have to be FA, because Webb's replacement needs to be drafted in the 1st. Of course, Cutler and Marshall have been trying to recruit Clady which would be awesome.
  23. So Kellen fumbles, drops a pass, gets knocked off his route which leads to an int and yet I bet he still sees the field in the second half. The Bears collection of TEs may be the worst in the NFL. Bring in Jared Cook please.
  24. My favorite part is people saying he isn't a "Theo type player." Good players are Theo type players. Not everyone in Boston was a count working walk wizard. Not even to mention the fact that Castro still has a lot of developing to do and just so happens to be doing it at the big league level. And the fact that the two things this front office likely wanted him to focus on improving (patience and defense) are also the things he improved the most this season. BB% by year: 2010: 5.7% 2011: 4.9% 2012: 5.2% I get it that his second half was much more patient than his first half. That doesn't change the fact that 2012 didn't really represent an increase in patience from Starlin. It's certainly not an area where you can say he "improved the most this season". Based on the entire year you could probably say the improvement was minimal, but I'm sure you saw just as I did how drastically different Starlin's approach was in the second half. It's clear he was intentionally working on this.
  25. That still doesn't address bearjuice's point as to wanting to be entertained. The second half of 2012 was unbearable to watch. The second half was unbearable to watch when the prospects actually got to play? I would think you'd hate the 1st half a lot more. I rather enjoyed getting to watch Rizzo, BJax, Castillo etc etc get some game time.
