  1. The Bears must be the single worst team in the NFL against the slant. It's the reason they never beat GB.
  2. Actually sign him? So you would have signed Sanchez for 5/90? what about 6/96? At some point the contract no longer makes sense no matter how much people want their new toy right now.
  3. Damn, depending on those other pieces that's a really nice return on Dickey. If somehow or another Syndergaard or Sanchez is in that deal too then it's an absolute steal. On a side note, when was the last time that 3 of the top 10 prospects in baseball were traded in one off season?
  4. 10)Vitters 11)Johnson 12)Torreyes (I didn't realize I was so much higher on him then pretty much everyone else)
  5. Liriano is not getting anywhere near a 4 or 5 year deal from anyone. He's getting at best a 2 year. He's not exactly comparable to EJax who at least deserves a 4 year deal. I also don't agree this team is worse than it was opening day last year. The starters are at least as good.
  6. Swisher is still out there, not that I'm particularly interested.
  7. Exactly. They're approaching this like they can present a "fair offer" as if they have something else besides money/years to entice FA's here right now. They don't. Odds are you have to pay extra to bring people to a bad team. Then I'm willing to move on and get Marcum or somebody else on a one-year deal, wait for our prospects to grow another season and get closer, and then sign another Marcum to another one year deal next year. Because, to me, Sanchez and Marcum are the same type of pitcher. Except that Sanchez is one hell of a lot better.
  8. Sanchez hasn't even picked Detroit yet. Can we stop the trolling [expletive] until that happens?
  9. Sounds like they just leaked the Cubs' offer just to use it against the Tigers. So incredibly lame.
  10. How do these reports keep happening to the Cubs? I haven't seen any other free agent news where it was a done deal to another team and then we find out that it wasn't a done deal. This would be the third time in half a year.
  11. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS Every freaking time... :banghead:
  12. This is going to be a really solid rotation. Though I would have to think this signing means Garza or Wood are going to gone very soon.
  13. 8)Villanueva- Not much of a ceiling but he's a pretty decent bet to be an ok MLB third basemen. 9)Vitters- I still think that bat is going to perform. He always starts out slow when he gets promoted to a new. 10) Johnson- Good stuff that should play as a set up man or closer even if he can't hold up as a starter.
  14. And he's already been hurt. He's behind a lot of guys for me. Doesn't an injury just increase a pitcher's value to this organization? Do we really need this in the minor league forums too?
  15. I'm not sure what's left of the Angels farm system, but would a package involving Bourjos and Conger for Garza be acceptable? We could always expand the deal to include Marmol. No thanks. The Rangers have to be absolutely panicking right now. Garza for Olt sounds nice.
  16. Those Hamilton and Pujols contracts are going to be disastrous in just a couple years.
  17. Absolutely. If he can put up a .730ish OPS with that elite level defense and good base running I'd be thrilled. Not to mention a combination of Barney/Castro/Bourjos would make the Cubs a tremendously strong defensive team up the middle.
  18. I'm a fan of this. Stocking up the bullpen with high potential arms which can be flipped for prospects in the future. It's a cheap low risk way to continue strengthening the farm.
  19. They wont let him throw his cutter which is considered his best pitch.
  20. Prediction, by tomorrow Bauer will be called an overhyped nothing special arm and a terrible human being while Didi is a diamond in the rough with lots of untapped upside.
  21. God [expletive] Damn it. I wish we could've figured out a way to let AZ dump one of those guys on us, since they seemed hell bent on getting rid of one. Seriously, where the hell was Theo/Jed on that one?
  22. If Gregarious lands Bauer I am not going to be pleased. We've got the MLB proven version available.
