  1. Apparently, the WSox asked for both Gray and Russell for Peavy with no cash included. I hope Beane hung up immediately.
  2. I really don't remember Marte getting much time last year, color me surprised.
  3. Then there will be another half dozen lists that inexplicably still think Lindor is the better prospect.
  4. Is this year's NL rookie class one of the best ever? Between Shelby Miller(2.3), Yasiel Puig(2.5), Jose Fernandez(2.0), Hyun Jin Ryu(1.8), Jean Segura(3.1) and Starling Marte(3.5) this class has half a dozen rookies who could finish with at least 3.5fWAR. It may not have a Harper or a Trout, but the depth is ridiculous.
  5. It's amazing how unnoticed his season is going behind the likes of Matt Harvey and Shelby Miler. He turned 21 just a couple weeks ago and he has posted a 2.74ERA along with a 1.04WHIP. All while striking out more than a batter an inning.
  6. Because he has as many home runs as walks He's also a shortstop who may hit 40HR. The rarity of that is just ridiculous.
  7. I don't see how he can't be a consensus top 10 guy after this year. Perhaps the largest offensive upside in the minors at a defensive premium position.
  8. Taillon+Polanco+Kingham+Stetson sounds pretty nice to me.
  9. Hmm, still at 65289. When I signed up I was hoping I would come up right around 2015, but it's not looking good. If the Cubs get competitive before then it could be a long long wait.
  10. Anyone noticed what Houston prospect George Springer is doing? 27HR, 52 extra base hits and a 1.000 OPS between AA and AAA to go along with his 30.2% K rate. He's got all the makings of a superior BJax.
  11. My response, "yeah, because they were so good with them". He says, "yeah they weren't good, but why trade 2 of the best players on the team". And some other dude says, "They traded Garza for 3 'prospects'. WTF! Does every year have to be a rebuilding year." So, I blocked him. (not really) but I'm not responding and that'll show him! Every time I try to talk baseball with friends I realize that I'm completely ruined for having a discussion with the average fan. The scenario is usually remedied with copious amounts of alcohol.
  12. You add Odor or Sardinas to the trio and that is absolutely ridiculous value for Garza. That's 3 guys who are either currently top 100 or at least in the honorable mention for the top 100.
  13. I'm not sure how to feel. On one hand one of the earth's greatest douches finally gets his; on the other hand, my fantasy keeper league team is now fairly screwed.
  14. Fine with me. From the little I saw, I wasn't particularly impressed.
  15. Although I'm irritated that this is going to drag on even longer, at least we don't have to worry about Olt being in the package anymore. This health snafu may end up netting the Cubs a better package.
  16. Give me any 3 of Jackson/Edwards/Olt/Odor/Sardinas/Alfaro and I'm completely thrilled with this trade. Ideally I'm hoping it's Edwards/Jackson/Odor.
  17. Wow I just now realized I completely forgot to put Valbuena's name in my post. I was wondering why people were confused. Obviously it makes no sense to call up Lake just to trade him.
  18. [expletive] Cleveland. I don't want Mr. Bauer. Nor do I, but I like Salazar quite a bit.
  19. Junior Lake is getting called up and Levine was on ESPN 1000 just recently saying he could be in a deal with Garza going to Cleveland. There's a decent amount of smoke there.
  20. I don't really care whatsoever if they land a pitcher. They just need to land a high quality chip and then they can decide how they want to use it later.
  21. 33 innings over 2 seasons, you can't really take much from that. And i'm not going to pretend to know everything on him, but what I read through the twitter leaves is that he is listening to a ton of people and changing his style, but he is attributing his struggles to that and would like to switch back. Also he's 22 years old. 22 years old and people are apparently expecting him to be all-star caliber already. There will be growing pains, and his upside is tremendous. He's worth targeting, IMO. It's the fact that he relies on people chasing to get outs. He'd rather walk a guy then throw a strike and let his defense do the work. He's also been on record about how he likes to pitch up in the zone. When you're facing ML players with legit bat speed, that's going to result in a ton of home runs. These are the kind of strategies that might work in the low minors, but they aren't going to work against the best of the best.
  22. Cecchini+Owens+Workman for Garza+Vogelbach makes a lot of sense to me. Granted I'd rather have Ranaudo, but that seems unlikely.
  23. I don't even particularly want Bauer anymore even if it was Bauer plus for Garza. The guy has been an unmitigated disaster in his brief time in the bigs and his complete unwillingness to change his style makes him not all that interesting. If he's willing to throw strikes and take a chance at giving up hits rather than walking the park then maybe we talk. The same thing goes with his refusal to stop intentionally pitching up in the zone.
